Seismic performance of Piers in Seohae Grand Bridge (서해대교 PSM교 교각의 내진성능)

  • 서해대교는 국내에 교량구조물에 관한 내진설계가 도입되기 전 설계된 교량으로서 현재 내진설계 규준에 적합하지 않은 종방향철근 및 횡방향 철근이 겹침이음된 중공육각형 단면의 철근콘크리트 기둥으로 이미 시공이 완료된 상태이다. 최근, 지진에 대한 사회적 관심이 대두됨으로서 내진 설계 규준에 적합하지 않은 철근상세를 가지 서해대교 PSM교 교각의 내진성능이 의문시되었다. 따라서, 비내진 철근상세를 가진 서해대교 PSM교 교각의내진성능 평가를 위하여 교각의 축소모형 실험을 수행하였으며, 실험결과 종방향철근 겹침이음이 교각의 전체적인 내진거동에는 큰 영향을 미치지 않으며 기대 이상의 연성을 발휘할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 논문에서는 축소모형 실험결과에 의한 시험체의 파괴양상, 유효강성, 연성, 응답수 정계수 및 등가점성감쇠비를 분석하였으며, 아울러 가속도변위 응답스펙트럼을 이용하여 서해대교 PSM교 교각의 내진성능을 평가하였다.

A Study on the Speed Performance of a Medium Patrol Boat using CFD (CFD를 이용한 중형 경비정의 속도성능 평가)

  • The primary objective of the current work is to predict speed performance of the medium patrol boat over $F_N=0.5$ employing experimental materials based on the CFD before model tests. In other words, the predicted brake powers according to ship speeds are assessed satisfying the main engine capacity. The subject ships are selected the two different stern hull forms. The flow computation are conducted considering free surface and dynamic trim using a commercial CFD code(STAR-CCM+). The resistances of the bare-hull are obtained from CFD. Wave patterns, pressures and limiting streamlines on the hull and velocity distribution in the propeller plane for the two hull forms are compared using CFD. The effective powers of the object ships are assessed based on CFD. Resistance increase according to the attached appendages and quasi-propulsive efficiency are employed the experimental datas. Speed performance prediction method concerning high speed vessels like a medium patrol boat is developed employing CFD and experimental data.

A Study on the Self-Weight Consolidation Procedure of Very Soft Ground Reclaimed by Dredging Clayey Soil (연약한 준설 매립 점성토지반의 자중압밀 과정에 관한 연구)

  • This study is performed for the development of a field monitoring and test technique both of self-weight and hydraulic consolidation by which the soil parameters of dredge-reclaimed clay can be obtained effectively. The field monitoring development and tests mentioned above make it possible to reproduce the process of the self-weight consolidation from settling to reclaimed soft ground. The experimental research is mainly focussed on the characteristics of self-weight consolidation of dredged clayey soil. And theoretical study has pointed out the limits in the application of Terzaghi's one dimensional consolidation theory in interpreting reclaimed clayey ground. Furthermore, a finite difference analysis has been made on the basis of Mikasa s self-weight consolidation theory which takes the problems of Terzaghi's theory into consideration. The relationships between specific volume, effective stress, and the coefficient of permeability of Kunsan reclaimed clayey soil have been obtained by laboratory tests. On the other hand, through the field monitoring, pore pressure, total pressure, and water levels have been measured after pouring. The results of these experiments have been analyzed, and compared with those from Terzaghi's method and the finite difference analysis of Mikasa's self-weight consolidation theory. In conclusion, the measured settlements is comparatively consistent with Mikasa's self-weight consolidation theory rather than Terzaghi's consolidation theory.

Fluid Flow Characteristics of Al2O3 Nanoparticles Suspended in Water (알루미나 나노유체의 유동 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper we report fluid flow characteristics of $Al_2O_3$ nanoparicles suspended in water. Especially, the effects of volume fraction with the range of 0.01% to 0.3% and tube diameter with $310{\mu}m$ to 1.735mm on the pressure drop and the effective viscosity of $Al_2O_3$ nanoparicles suspended in water are experimentally investigated. It is shown that the effective viscosity of water-based $Al_2O_3$ nanofluids with 0.1 Vol.% through a circular tube of 1.024mm diameter is increased to about 6%. The effective viscosity from experimental results is compared with that from Einstein model. With the comparison, we show that Einstein model for determining the effective viscosity of nanofluids is not applicable to water-based $Al_2O_3$ nanofluids.

  • 시스템이 슬라이딩모드의 존재조건을 만족하는 경우, 전동기의 상태가 전동기의 파라미터에 의존하지 않고 결정되는 절환 초평면에 수렴하기 때문에 파라미터에 불감한 응답을 나타낸다. 본 연구는 소형 유도전동기에 의한 외란 및 파라미터의 변동에 대하여 로바스트(robust)와 동시에 정확한 응답을 나타내는 교류서보 전동기 구동시스템을 실현하는 것이다. 이를 실현하기 위해서 가변구조 제어이론에 기초한 슬라이딩모드 제어를 적용하여 유도전동기 자계 슬립주파수형 벡터제어를 실현한다. 이상적인 전동기에 대한 시뮬레이션의 결과에 의해서 관성, 점성마찰계수, 부하 토오크 등 의 파라미터의 변동 및 외란에 대하여 로바스터성이 있다는 것을 알 수 있고 슬라이딩모드 제어의 도입이 교류전동기 서보제어에 유효한 것을 확인하였다.

  • In this research, the ground with smeared zone was reconstructed using the large consolidation test apparatus. And the reconstituted kaolinite samples at different locations were retrieved for the oedometer test. From the oedometer test results the permeability- void ratio-effective stress behavior was investigated. Based on the experimental analysis, spatial differences of permeability according to the drainage distance by both smear and radial drainage consolidation reduced as the consolidation proceeds and eventually disappeared in normally consolidated region. And the spatial variation of permeability by radial drainage consolidation showed larger differences in smaller extent than the spatial variation of permeability by smear.

  • The multiphase simulation of a liquid jet in a lab-scale ramjet combustor with a plain orifice type injector was studied with a commercial CFD tool, a FLUENT program. The objectives of the current study are to analysis the breakup characteristics of a hexane liquid jet in a cross flow and to derive the correlation between flow conditions and drag force coefficients in a test section. From the result of a numerical simulation, we concluded that a DPM and Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ model with an enhanced wall treatment were available to simulate the multiphase flow simulation. And the calculated distribution of a hexane vapor concentration was well-matched with experimental results.

Aerodynamic Corrections for Load Analysis of Micro Aerial Vehicle (초소형 비행체 하중해석을 위한 공력보정)

  • Aerodynamic influence coefficient linearly relates pressure with downwash in panel method for load analysis in which the viscosity of a flow is ignored and the compressibility cannot be taken into account in transonic region. Since the planform of an aerodynamic surface determines the coefficient, the panel method has a limit to the analysis of low Reynolds number flow. The accuracy of the pressure distribution can be improved by a direct correction to the pressure or a correction to the downwash, which is considered the change of camber or thickness, using the aerodynamic coefficients from wind tunnel test as constraints. A premultiplying correction method as well as a postmultiplying correction method is applied to a micro air vehicle to provide more accurate aerodynamic pressure for trim and load analyses. Theoretical aerodynamic pressure is obtained from the panel method. Correction factor matrix and correct pressure coefficient are computed for the conditions with two constraints in addition to single constraint. The postmultiplying correction method gives a better improvement in pressure distribution on micro air vehicle due to the flow characteristics on it.

Reduction Factor of the Site Coefficient due to the Foundation Embedment in the Soft Soil Layer for the Seismic Analysis of a Building (건축물의 지진해석을 위한 연약지반에 묻힌 기초로 인한 지반증폭계수에 대한 저감계수)

  • In this study, the reduction factor of the code-defined site coefficient due to the embedment of a foundation was estimated for the seismic analysis of a building built on a soft soil site. This was done by utilizing the in-house finite element software P3DASS, which has the capability of pseudo 3D seismic analysis with nonlinear soil layers. A 30m thick soft soil site laid on the rock was assumed to be homogeneous, elastic, viscous and isotropic, and equivalent circular rigid foundations with radii of 10-70m were considered to be embedded at 0, 10, 20 and 30m in the soil layer. Seismic analyses were performed with 7 bedrock earthquake records deconvoluted from the outcrop records of which the effective ground acceleration was scaled to 0.1g. The study results showed that the site coefficients are gradually reduced except in the case of a small foundation embedded deeply in the weak soil layer, and it was estimated that the deviation of the site coefficients due to the foundation size was not significant. The standard reduction factor due to the foundation embedment were calculated adding the standard deviation to the average of 5 reduction factors calculated for 5 different foundation radii. Standard reduction factors for the site amplification factor were proposed for the practical amplification and the codes of KBC, etc., in accordance with the average shear wave velocity of the site, and the site class.

Fracture Characteristics of Concrete at Early Ages (초기재령 콘크리트의 파괴 특성)

  • The objective of this study is to examine the fracture characteristics of concrete at early ages such as critical stress intensity factor, critical crack-tip opening displacement, fracture energy, and bilinear softening curve based on the concepts of the effective-elastic crack model and the cohesive crack model. A wedge splitting test for Mode I was performed on cubic wedge specimens with a notch at the edge. By taking various strengths and ages, load-crack mouth opening displacement curves were obtained, and the results were analyzed by linear elastic fracture mechanics and the finite element method. The results from the test and analysis showed that critical stress intensity factor and fracture energy increased, and critical crack-tip opening displacement decreased with concrete ages from 1 day to 28 days. By numerical analysis four parameters of bilinear softening curve from 1 day to 28 days were obtained. The obtained fracture parameters and bilinear softening curves at early ages may be used as a fracture criterion and an input data for finite element analysis of concrete at early ages.
