Analysis of Data Processing Efficiency using Duplicated Data Removal in AMI (AMI의 중복데이터 제거를 통한 데이터처리효율성 분석)

  • Due to widespread construction of AMI(Advanced Metering Infrastructure), various service tends to increase, which are not only remote metering service collection measuring data but also demand management and energy saving using measuring data. In order to support a stable management of such services, it is necessary for measuring data to be processed efficiently. In this paper, we analyze a performance of measured data processing efficiency using duplicated data removal according to AMI construction purpose on real environments.

  • AMI enables bi-directional exchange of information between utilities and consumers in order to maximize energy efficiency. To enable the AMI, it is essentially required to construct stable communication networks. This paper shows the AMI system based on IEEE 802.11s as one of the communication methods. Experimental results show that the wireless mesh network technology achieves a stable communication performance over a wide coverage.

  • In future digital environment, energy management system will meet the real-time capability to process the emergency events, unexpected blackouts or over-load, and the high speed to provide the consumer service events such as remote meter reading. According to, energy management system needs the simple and independent information exchange model which can transmit various energy event information in real-time. In this paper, we developed an esXML that was divided into two modelings, device modeling and event modeling, based on XML using object-oriented modeling. As a result of experiments, the system was able to exchange information independently and efficiently.

  • TETRA is the standard of Digital Trunked Radio System suggested by the ETSI(European Telecommunications Standards Institut ). It is adopted as Electric Power IT Wireless Backbone Network in Korea. Police station and Fire Station are using TETRA network. Currently, Power Automation Protocols are DNP3.0 in Distribution Automation System, DLMS in Auto Metering Infrastructure, IEC61850 in Substation Automation. These protocols are transmissions using CDMA or WCDMA modem. If Power Automation protocol uses TETRA networks, it can be interoperable with the systems in police or fire stations. And it has outstanding ability to handle problems in a disaster situation. So, This paper propose a gateway system of Power Automation which can transmit the power automation protocol using TETRA.

  • In this study, we developed AMI terminals of 1 (reader): N (small transmitter). Currently, the government is focusing on the Gas AMI demonstration project to advance the outdated metering system of the urban gas industry, led by the government-sponsored ministries. The supply of gas AMI meters has the advantage of resolving uncertainties in privacy violations and measurement information and preparing for consumer safety through gas leakage detection. In the case of existing AMI meters, readers and transmitters were 1:1 methods, while this technology can be extended to multiple generations with a 1:N method, and a technology that can extend battery life by implementing a low-power design is applied. We hope that this research will contribute to the gas AMI supply project in the future.

  • Home network service is evolving into a service that can receive contents such as remote education, home automation, remote meter reading and various entertainment anytime and anywhere by connecting all household appliances in home with wired and wireless network. In this paper, an intelligent home gateway installed at home is connected to the mobile communication terminal from the outside to solve the problems of the existing home network and configure and maintain a more efficient and comfortable home network environment for the user, In the window, the login page is activated to confirm the user access authority, and the user proceeds the authentication procedure through own login information. When the normal authentication procedure is performed, the intelligent home gateway maintains only the network connection with the user, and the user presents the intelligent home network system using the RFID which is accessed by the intelligent home network system.

  • 지구온난화와 화석연료의 고갈 등 에너지관련 문제들이 발생함에 따라 제한된 자원의 효율적인 소비가 중요한 연구주제로 다루어지고 있다. 특히 자원수입국인 우리나라의 경우는 국제 유가 급등과 같은 에너지파동에 상당히 민감하기 때문에 에너지 관리를 통한 정확한 수급정책 수립 및 효율적인 소비생활이 무엇보다 중요하다. 이를 위해 우선적으로 취할 수 있는 해결책 중의 하나가 댁내 가전기기의 불필요한 전력낭비를 최소화하는 것이다. 이번 연구에서는 전력선통신(PLC)기반 원격검침 인프라를 활용하여 1차적으로 가전기기의 대기전력을 지능적으로 관리함으로써 전력낭비를 최소화하고 2차적으로 전력소비모니터링 서비스를 제공함으로써 사용자가 능동적으로 전력소비를 줄일 수 있도록 하는 지능형 홈에너지 관리시스템을 개발하였으며, 실제 수용가를 대상으로 구축, 운영함으로써 향후 에너지를 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Remote water meter monitoring is essential in U-city applications, whoγe digital water meter is a key component. While there are several kinds of water meters, the way to use has sensors has the merit of better preciseness, but the drawback of more power consumption. In this paper, we suggest an advanced sensing algorithm to diminish the power consumption while keeping the quality of preciseness. Our approach is to use less precise hall sensor for detecting the start of water impeller rotation with lower power consumption. During the rotation, a high precision hall sensor is used to meter the amount of water consumption. Our algorithm is analyzed to get 2 times lower power consumption than the previous algorithm.

  • In this paper, geographic information system(GIS) for an intelligent power distribution network was implemented with location informations acquired from automatic meter reading system, where the location informations of power line communication(PLC) modems installed at customer side were collected at data concentration units(DCUs) of headend equipment via PLC and then were transmitted to front end processor server. By displaying the connection status of the power distribution network on GIS map, operation of advanced metering infrastructure(AMI) or management of power grid system could be performed intuitionally and in real time, because the configuration state of the power grid could be easily monitored. The feasibility of the proposed system was confirmed with the especially constructed laboratory-level test bed and the verification test of the system will be carried out for a real power distribution network.

  • Many kinds of carbon emission monitoring systems or integrated systems have been developed so far. However, despite of the development of related techniques, they tend to be lack of statistic processing functions for feedback and policy-making data for users. In this study, a new CEMS (Carbon Emission Monitoring System) has been suggested and implemented in Sejong City, Korea. This system adapted automatic remote reading system from the site management agency as data hub to collect the electricity, gas and water usage of each household. The CEMS is consisted of 6 parts; carbon emission measurement, carbon emission standard setup and management, statistic analysis and the incentives. CEMS is distinguished with other systems for its UIs for users and the administrators. Also, data sharing with urban information system(UIS) of local government to produce information for users and policy-makers. This system makes it possible to investigate the change of energy consumption patterns, especially depending on the family structure and the housing characteristics. Furthermore, analyzing their correlation with carbon emission, it is expected to provide basic data used to establish urban environmental policies.
