  • The purpose of this study is to develop a research model and to verify the effects death anxiety has on subjective health status, economic status, depression and social support for the elders and their quality of life. The survey targeting 330 elders from the 17 senior citizen centers in Dong-do-chun and Nam-yang-ju city was carried out from 2008.8.1 to 2008.9.31. To summarise the research result, 6 hypotheses among 9 hypotheses concerning the direct effects were supported. In another words, health status, depression and social support are valid and the direct effect of depression, social support and death anxiety are valid as subjective quality of life as an endogenous variable. In the case of indirect effects, 2 indirect effects among all 4 indirect effect hypotheses are valid. In another words, the effect the subjective health status has on the subjective quality of life is valid as the mediating effects of death anxiety and the effect depression has on the subjective quality of life is also valid as the mediating effects of death anxiety. Based on the results of this study, a proposal to reduce death anxiety among the elderly is suggested.

  • This study examined the relationship between psychopathology(depression, anxiety, aggression), maladaptive cognitions(negative cognitive errors, attributional biases), and age of children with ADHD. 40 ADHD children and their mother completed questionnaires assessing depression, anxiety, aggression level and maladaptive cognitions of children. The results showed that maladaptive cognitions of children with ADHD was not significantly associated with their depression, anxiety, aggression level. Age was negatively related to internal stable attributions for negative events that was characteristic in depression, and had significantly effect on internal stable attributions for negative events. As age of ADHD children increased, their internal attribution for negative events reduced. It seems that their depression and anxiety level is associated with current stress event rather than maladaptive cognitions. Suggestions and limitations of this study, and the directions for future study were discussed.

A total of 303 consecutive RLS patients were assessed by self questionnaires and participant's medical records were reviewed for obtaining their clinical information. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. The quality of sleep was positively correlated with symptoms(r=. 21, p<.001) and depression(r=. 37, p<.001). The results of multiple regression analysis showed that significant variables influencing the quality of sleep were depression(${\beta}=.35$, p<.001), age(${\beta}=.21$, p<.001), and severity(${\beta}=.15$, p=.005). The explanation power of this regression model was 21.0% and it was statistically significant. As a result, to improve their sleep quality, the nursing interventions are required for RLS patients who have the depression, age, and severity.

Results: Among the psychosocial factors, the educational level and physical health, showed significant discriminative score in the SWS. A prior medical history was associated with a significantly low SWS score. Satisfaction with life was associated with a significantly high SWS score. These factors a showed significant discriminative EWS score rather than a RWS. Among the religion factors, the satisfaction with their religion showed significant difference in the SWS. The SWS score especially the EWS affected the anxiety and depression of the Korean Combined Anxiety and Depression Scale (CADS). The subjective feeling of life score was associated with a significantly EWS low score and the subject's satisfaction with their whole life score was associated with a significantly high EWS score. Conclusion: Spiritual well being has significantly effects on anxiety depression and the quality of life in active old age people, and the subject;s spiritual well-being might be a new factor for assessing health in old age.
