Convergence Comparative Study of Presenteeism by Long-term Care Hospital Nurses Versus General Hospital Nurses (요양병원과 종합병원 간호사의 프리젠티즘의 융합적 비교연구)

  • This study is a descriptive study to investigate the presenteeism of nursing in long-term care hospital and general hospital. Data collection was conducted from October 01, 2019 to December 30, 2019. 74 nursing in long-term care hospital and 75 nursing in general hospital in this study. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS Win 21.0 program. Long-term care hospital nurses perceived higher health problems, job loss and perceiver productivity than general hospital nurses. This shows that there is no difference in work intensity according to the classification of patients in long-term care hospitals and general hospital nurses. In order to improve the quality of nursing care services in long-term care hospitals, it is necessary to manage the organizational aspects of long-term care hospital nurses' presenteeism.

Factors Influencing health Promoting Behaviors for Long-term care Hospital Nurses (요양병원 간호사의 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향요인)

  • This study examined the influence of self efficacy, social support, and health promoting behaviors of long-term care hospital nurese. Data were collected from March 1 to April 30, 2021 for 180 nurses who worked for 6 months at long-term care hospital nurses by D city. Collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 21.0. Nursing professionalism was positively correlated with the self efficacy(r=.35, p<.001) and social support(r=.34, p<.001). The significant variables explaining self efficacy(β=.290, p=.041) and social support(β=.189, p=.004) These factors explained 17.2% of health promoting behaviors. It is necessary to provide education that consider the self efficacy, social support of long-term care hospital nurse to help them establish an promotion view of health promoting behaviors.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate nurses' ethical dilemma and professionalism in long-term care hospitals. Participants in this study were 210 nurses working in 14 long-term care hospitals. Data analysis was done using SPSS / WIN 24.0 program. As a result of this study, the ethical dilemma of the nurse was moderate. The highest sub-area was 'nurse-patient relationship' and 'respect of life and human rights' was the lowest sub-area. The professionalism of the subjects was moderate, and the score of 'sense of mission' area was the lowest. Nursing ethics guidelines should be developed that reflect the ethical dilemma of nurses in long-term care hospitals, and will provide the right values for the ethical dilemma that nurses face in their workplace. When planning the nurses' professionalism education, it is necessary to have a strategy to enhance the sense of mission by emphasizing beliefs and values about nursing care.

Experience of the Role Conflict of Nurses in Long-term Care Hospitals (요양병원 간호사의 역할갈등 경험)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the experience of the role conflict among nurses in long-term care hospitals. Method: Data were collected through in-depth interviews with nine nurses in long-term care hospitals. Colaizzi's phenomenological method was used for data analysis. Result: In this study, five categories and twelve theme clusters were generated. The five categories consisted of 'Heavy workload,' 'Nursing job delegation of unclear regulations,' 'Unprotected doctor's job performance,' 'Non-systematic nursing assistants management' and 'Limit of competency.' Conclusion: These results will contribute to the role establishment of nurse in long-term care hospitals and the qualitative improvement of work by providing the grounds for the strategy development which improve working environment and job satisfaction of nurses in long-term care hospitals apposite to the case of Korea.

  • The purpose of this study examine to identify the mediating Organizational citizenship behavior in the relation Authentic leadership and Organizational support. Data were collected by self-report questionnaires targeting 229 caregiver in Daegu city and Gyeongsangbuk-do city. Data were analyzed with SPSS/PC ver. 21.0 programs. There were significantly positive correlations between toward the Organizational citizenship behavior, Authentic leadership and Organizational. As a result of analyzing the main factors the level of care performance for authentic leadership and Organizational support to be significant explanatory variables and this model's explanatory power was 50.0%. Therefore, it is necessary required to improve the Organizational support and leader's authentic leadership for the nursing work performance.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify, describe, and understand the meaning of experiences by clarifying the structure of the coping experience of end-of-life care(EOLC) experienced by long-term care hospitals(LTCHs) nurses'. Methods: Data were gathered from 16 nurses who had been working at LTCHs in Korea through one-on-one interviews and the data were analyzed by Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Results: It was structured and identified into 3 categories and 15 theme clusters. The emergent 3 categories were 'Long-term care hospitals nurses' attitudes towards for end-of-life care', 'End-of-life care stress', 'Coping with end-of-life care'. Conclusion: There is a need for practical and systematic education for LTCHs nurses' to positively change end-of-life care attitudes and reduce and prevent end-of-life care stress. In addition, it is suggested to operate programs that can improve coping skills or programs such as expert counseling.

The Study of Work Environment of Nurses in Long-term Care Hospitals (요양병원 간호사의 근무환경 실태조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the work environment of nurses in long-term carer hospitals and to help in their work environment improvement through these results. A cross-sectional survey was conducted. A convenience sample of 179 subjects including staff nurses and nurse managers over head nurses working in long-term care hospitals located in Gwangju city were recruited. The data were collected from July to December 2015. A structured questionnaires were used as a study instrument, and included questions regarding subjects' general characteristics, hospital-related characteristics, and work environment. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS ver. 22.0. The results showed that 73.2% of subjects were working in hospitals established by individuals. The most of long-term care hospitals accepted accreditation program. The ratio of nurses to nurse aiders of was 1:2. The numbers of off duty was 8 days, and average annual salary was 2,500~3,000 ten thousand won in nurses of long-term care hospitals. Based on these results, work environment of nurses of long-term care hospitals was not good. Therefore, the results suggest qualitative research to investigate deeply how to recognize on work environment like this for nurses of long-term care hospitals.

  • Currently, the number of Long-Term Care Hospital in Korea is continuously increasing with the increase in the elderly population. Patients admitted to Long-Term Care Hospital are mainly elderly with chronic diseases, and because they are for long-term care, they often die in Long-Term Care Hospital, and the importance of end-of-life care is gradually increasing. In spite of these characteristics Studies on end-of-life care for nurses in Long-Term Care Hospital are mainly quantitative studies, and there is a limit to in-depth understanding of end-of-life care experiences. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of Long-Term Care Hospital nurses' nursing experienceof end-of-life patients through a phenomenological method, and to describe and understand the meaning of the phenomenon in depth. The subjects of this study were 7 nurses who had worked for more than 6 months at a nursing hospital located in C city. The research method was in-depth interviews, and data were collected from December 2021 to March 2022. The interview date were analyzed by Giorgi's phenomenological method. As a result of the study, 'nurses' attitude toward end-of-life care', 'ambivalence toward life prolongation', 'reality of end-of-life care in Long-Term Care Hospital', and 'reflection on life and death' were found. Therefore, it is thought that End-of-life nursing Continuing educationand interventional education programs should be developed to change Long-Term Care Hospital nurses' end-of-life care attitudes and improve coping skills.

  • This study is a descriptive research study that examines the level of terminal care nursing care and the effects on terminal nursing in the internal and external control beliefs of nurses in the nursing geriaic hospital.. The subjects consisted of 442 nurses, and data were collected through structured questionnaires.. The data were analyzed with descriptive that used SPSS WIN 22.0, and AMOS 5.0 statistical program was hypothetical model and path analysis of research hypothesis. As a result, terminal care of geriatric hospital nurses was statininificant to the terminal care stress, fatigue and locus of internal & external control. and the higher the internal control belief, the less stress of the terminal care and the higher the terminal care performance As a result, this study providers a more terminal care performance, It is considered that nursing hospital nurses who develop strategic programs and terminal care nursing will need to provide quality nursing education and work environment improvement.

Convergence Effects of Perceived Value of Work and Organizational Communication Satisfaction on Nursing Confidence of Nurses in Convalescent Hospital (국내 요양병원 간호사의 일가치감과 조직커뮤니케이션 만족이 간호역량에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • The study aimed to identify convergence effects of nurses' competence of convalescent hospitals. During from July 2019 to August 2019, data were collected from 161 nurses of 8 convalescent hospitals in D city using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS / WIN 25.0 program by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Stepwise Multiple regression. The findings showed that nursing confidence of nurses at convalescent hospitals was explained 55% by value of work, organizational communication satisfaction, graduate school, no experience of leave of absence, and two shifts work type. The results indicate that to promote nursing competence of participants, it is necessary to improve value of work and organizational communication satisfaction and to provide job training program for re-employed nurses or to graduate school.
