Benthic Marine Algal Flora and Community Structure of Yongho-dong Area in Pusan, Korea (부산 용호동 일대의 저서 해조상 및 군집구조)

  • Benthic marine algal flora and community structure of Yongho-dong area in Pusan, Korea were investigated seasonally in intertidal and subtidal zones by a quadrat method along 5 transect lines from July 1996 to April 1997. In this area, a total of 99 species including 3 blue-green, 13 green, 26 brown and 57 red algae was found. Among them, 33 taxa, together with dominant Ulva pertusa and Corallina pilulifera, occurred throughout the year. Enteromorpha spp. and Ulva spp. vertically distributed in upper and middle zone, while Simphyocladia latiuscula, Chondria crassicaulis, Corallina pilulifera and Sargassum sup. in lower zones. Biomass per unit area exhibited a wide range of variation, from 1,241 g/$m^2$(spring) to 1,648 g/$m^2$(summer) in fresh weight. Maximum and minimum species diversity were recorded in spring and autumn, respectively. Results of the UPGAM cluster analysis suggest that the examined 5 sites can be divided into two groups, sites exposed to open sea (transects 1, 2, 3) and comparatively sheltered sites (transects 4, 5) faced with the Pusan Harbor. The former group is represented by large brown algae, Sargassum and Hizikia, while Ulva pertusa and Lomentaria species are mainly found in the latter group. A calcareous alga, Corallina pilulifera occurred dominantly in both groups throughout the year. In conclusion, number of species in this area was remarkably reduced as compared to the previous data. This result may suggest probably more change of algal vegetation in future, considering the physical and chemical pollutions loaded in the coastal marine environment of this area.

Characteristics of Incident Waves on Seaweed Farm Field Around Gumil-up Sea, Wando (완도 금일읍 주변해역 해조류 양식장에 내습하는 해양파랑 특성)

  • Wave field measurements were made over a period of 18 days to study the spatial distribution of incident wave on seaweed tarm field around Gumil-up Sea, Wando, Korea. These measured data were compared with data from the Geomun-do ocean weather/wave observation buoy. A numerical simulation model that combined the offshore design wave with the seasonal normal incoming wave was used to study the incident wave distribution surrounding a seaweed farm. The results are summarized as follows. (1) On-site wave measurements showed that the major relationship between maximum and significant wave height was $H_{max}=1.6H_{1/3}$. (2) Offshore incident wave energy reaching the coast was greatly influenced by the wind direction. A north wind reduced the incident wave energy and a south wind increased it. (3) The calculated maximum wave height under the design wave boundany conditions was in the range of 4~5 m and the reduction in the incident wave height ratio ranged from approximately 38.1% to 47.6% at Gumil-up Sea. Under normal wave conditions, the maximum wave heights were 3.6~4.0 m in summer and 2.3~2.7 m in winter while the reduction in the incident wave height ratio was about 41.8% to 49.1%. (4) The sea state in the southern area of Gumil-up was the most affected by ocean waves, whereas the sea state in the northern area was very stable. The significant wave ratio in the south was about six times that in the north.

  • Bypass surgery is performed for insuring continuity of a blood supply that is restricted due to obstruction of the native blood supply. Two types of surgery are commonly carried out: one is anatomic bypass and the other is extraanatomic bypass. Especially, extraanatomic bypass surgery is performed in patients who are a high risk for performing anatomical bypass surgery. The risk factors for anatomical bypass surgery are old age, infection, previous surgery and trauma. A 96-year-old patient underwent extraanatomic bypass surgery from the right femoral artery to the left femoral artery due to total occlusion of the left iliac artery, and 7 years after that operation, a pseudoaneurysm abruptly and spontaneously appeared from the bypass suture site without any predisposing factor. The lesion was revealed to be an organizing thrombus.

Estimation of Bathymetry Changes using Hyperspectral Measurements -Focused on Haeundae beach- (초미세분광 측정치를 이용한 해저지형 변화산정 - 해운대를 중심으로 -)

  • Shallow water depths were estimated using Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager (CASI)-1500 and mapped to analyze the bottom bathymetry changes due to the rip currents in Haeundae beach, South Korea for the first time. The depths were estimated empirically using the maximum reflectances from 420nm to 597nm wavelength of CASI and 47 in situ water depth measurements, which were compared with ground-truth bathymetry measurements. The comparisons showed that the RMSE was 1.1m with a correlation coefficient of 0.76. In addition, CASI imagery showed remarkably detailed bottom features, especially those resulting from the rip currents within the beach. Two different channels carved by the rip current were analyzed and characterized with respect to the width and slope compared to surrounding regions. While the west side of the channel showed a wide and gentle slope, the east side of the channel showed a narrow and steep slope. The estimated bathymetry map revealed that the uneven offshore bottom features were related to the transport and accumulation of sediments by the rip current, which reaches hundreds of meters offshore. Accordingly, the accumulated sediments were estimated by adding topography changes compared to the depths of the non-rip current regions. The sediments were accumulated in off channels as much as almost twice the amount of annual sand supplements along the Haeundae beach.

Late Quaternary Sequence Stratigraphy in Kyeonggi Bay, Mid-eastern Yellow Sea (황해 중동부 경기만의 후기 제4기 순차층서 연구)

  • The Yellow Sea has sensitively responded to high-amplitude sea-level fluctuations during the late Quaternary. The repeated inundation and exposure have produced distinct transgression-regression successions with extensive exposure surfaces in Kyeonggi Bay. The late Quaternary strata consist of four seismic stratigraphic units, considered as depositional sequences (DS-1, DS-2, DS-3, and DS-4). DS-1 was interpreted as ridge-forming sediments of tidal-flat and estuarine channel-fill facies, formed during the Holocene highstand. DS-2 consists of shallow-marine facies in offshore area, which was formed during the regression of Marine Isotope Stage (MIS)-3 period. DS-3 comprises the lower transgressive facies and the upper highstand tidal-flat facies in proximal ridges and forced regression facies in distal ridges and offshore area. The lowermost DS-4 rests on acoustic basement rocks, considered as the shallow-marine and shelf deposits formed before the MIS-6 lowstand. This study suggests six depositional stages. During the first stage-A, MIS-6 lowstand, the Yellow Sea shelf was subaerially exposed with intensive fluvial incision and weathering. The subsequent rapid and high amplitude rise of sea level in stage-B until the MIS-5e highstand produced transgressive deposits in the lowermost part of the MIS-5 sequence, and the successive regression during the MIS-5d to -5a and the MIS-4 lowstand formed the upperpart of the MIS-5 sequence in stage-C. During the stage-D, from the MIS-4 lowstand to MIS-3c highstand period, the transgressive MIS-3 sequence formed in a subtidal environment characterized by repetitive fluvial incision and channel-fill deposition in exposed area. The subsequent sea-level fall culminating the last glacial maximum (Stage-E) made shallow-marine regressive deposits of MIS-3 sequence in offshore distal area, whereas it formed fluvial channel-fills and floodplain deposits in the proximal area. After the last glacial maximum, the overall Yellow Sea shelf was inundated by the Holocene transgression and highstand (Stage-F), forming the Holocene transgressive shelf sands and tidal ridges.

  • 역들의 공간적 분포가 불균질하고 역의 크기가 큰 역암의 경우 암석 전체를 대표하는 물성치($E_m,\;c,\;\Phi$ 등) 구하기 위해서는 매우 큰 시험기기가 필요하다. 따라서 커다란 역을 포함하는 역암의 경우 직접 암석실내시험을 통한 물성치 산정은 현실적으로 거의 불가능하다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위하여 이 연구에서는 개별요소법을 이용하여 역암의 물성치를 산출하는 방법을 제안한다. 그 방법은다음과 같다. (1) 역암내의 역의 물성과 기질부의 물성을 각각 실내실험을 통하여 파악한 후 이들 (2) 두 물질의 거동양상을 구현할 수 있는 개별요소집합체의 개별요소간의 물성을 결정한다. (3) 역의 함량, 크기 모양 공간적 분포양상등의 역암 조직과 유사한 개별요소 수치해석시료를 만든 후, (4) 이를 수치 해석실험 (이축압축실험)에 사용한다. 이러한 수치해석실험을 통해 현재까지 만들어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 역의 강도가 기질의 강도보다 높은 역암의 경우, 역의 양이 증가할수록 일축압축강도, 내부 마찰각, 점착력이 증가하지만 증가 양상은 선형이 아니다. 탄성계수의 경우 역의 양과 상관 없이 변화하지 않는다. 둘째, 역과 기질 사이 표면의 점착력이 약할 경우 이러한 표면에서 최초 미세 균열이 형성되기 시작하므로 이 점착력은 물성치를 산출하는 중요한 인자이다. 따라서, 향후 이에 대한 자세한 연구가 필요하다고 판단된다. 결론적으로,설계 또는 시공시 직접시험에 의한 물성치의 파악이 어려운 역암 또는 직접시험을 위해 대량의 시료를 필요로 하는 함력 미고결지층, 핵석층, 풍화암과 같은 시료의 물성치는 별도로 측정된 물성들 (예, 역과 기질)을 이용한 개별요소법을 통해 구할 수 있다.로 나타났다.TEX>, DIN/DIP비 표층수 $23.91\pm3.42$, 저층수 $23.43\pm3.38$이었으며, 전반적으로 해역별 수질기준 I등급 내지는 II등급을 유지하고 있었고, 공간적으로는 외해측으로 갈수록 외해수와 혼합 확산되어 양호한 수질을 나타내었다. 장기적인 변동특성은 세그룹으로 구분되어진다.기 실험결과 용출용매로 증류수와 해수를 이용했을 때, 제강 슬래그에서 용출되는 납, 구리, 카드뮴, 수은의 용출 경향의 차이를 확인할 수 있었고 이에 따라서, 납, 구리, 카드뮴의 용출 유해성은 낮기 때문에 해양구조물로의 제강슬래그 유효이용은 적합할 것으로 판단되었다.im80%$로 계산되었다. 열형광선량계로 측정된 방사선량은 각각 1.8, 1.2, 0.8, 1.2, 0.8 (70 cm 거리) cGy로 측정되었으며, 환자의 복부 표면에서의 서베이메터를 이용한 측정량은 10.9 mR/h였다. 차폐구조물의 사용 시 전체 치료 동안에 태아선량은 약 1 cGy 정도로 평가되었다. 결론 : AAPM Report No.50의 자료에 따르면, 임산부의 방사선 치료 시 태아의 방사선 피폭선량은 5 cGy 이하일 경우에 방사선 피폭에 따른 태아의 위험이 거의 없는 것으로 제시되고 있다. 본원에서 차폐 구조물을 설치하였을 경우에 측정된 태아선량은 약 1 cGy로 측정되었고, 고안된 차폐구조물은 태아에 도달하는 방사선량을 감소시키기에 적합한 설계임이 입증되었다. 아니라 일반종합병원에서도 CTX-M형 ESBL 생성 E. coli와 K. pneumoniae가 존재하며 확산 중임을 시사한다. 앞으로 CTX-M형 ESBL의 만연과 변종 CTX-M형 ESBL의 출연을 감시하기 위한

Spawning Density and Recruitment of Janpanese Anchovy, Engraulis japonica in the Southern Sea of Korea in 2007 (2007년 남해안 멸치의 산란밀도와 어장가입)

  • Spatio-temporal distribution of eggs and larvae of Japanese anchovy Engraulis japonica in the southern sea of Korea was determined using data obtained from icthyoplanktonic surveys and oceanographic observations between Goheung Peninsula and Goeje Island from May to August 2007. Commercial anchovy catch and size composition from four local fishery cooperative associations were also analyzed in relation to the geographic distribution of eggs and larvae. The abundance of anchovy eggs increased from May to July and was lowest in August. Eggs were mainly distributed between Namhae Island and Goeje Island, where water temperatures were $15{\sim}24^{\circ}C$ and salinities were 32~35‰. In 2007 anchovy landings between Namhae Island and Goeje Island were 11,409 tons at Tongyeong association, 4,137 tons at Masan association, and 2,487 tons at Sacheon association. However, landings between Goheung and Yeosu Peninsula were only 4,411 tons (at Yeosu association). The catch by anchovy tow net was high in the area where eggs were abundantly distributed. This indicates that the distribution of egg density was directly correlated with recruitment of E. japonica. All growth stages were abundant in the study area, indicating that this area is a major spawning and growing ground of E. japonica in Korean waters.

바실러스에 의한 중금속 제거 및 EPS 추출물질 비교에 관한 연구

Variations of Sediment Textural Parameters and Topography around Gangneung Harbor after the Completion of Harbor Construction (강릉항 완공 후 주변해역의 퇴적물 조직변수와 지형의 변화)

  • To investigate the changes in depositional environment around Gangneung Harbor, we analyzed the surface sediment textural parameters and topography data collected five times from February 2007 to February 2009. In the study area, sediments were mainly composed of sand and its sediment size became finer at offshore sites. During summer time, however, the sand grains became coarser than winter season near Namhangjin Beach, inside the harbor, and offshore areas. On the other hand, the grain size of Anmok Beach showed a gradual finer trend with time. Compared with the previous studies conducted before the completion of Gangneung Harbor construction, the mean grain size became finer on Anmok Beach, while it was coarser on Namhangjin Beach. The bathymetric changes observed over a 2-year period showed predominant erosion in the area of 5 to 10 m water depths and deposition in 2 to 5 m water depths. The shallower area less than 2 m water depths showed an alternating trend and yet slightly more dominant erosion process. The sediment textural parameters and the distribution of erosion and deposition have changed continuously. Results imply that such changes show long-term trends as well as seasonal variations in which the trend may have been formed after the completion of Gangneung Harbor construction.

Numerical Model Study for Structure and Distribution of the Keum River Plume (금강 풀룸의 구조와 분포에 대한 수치모델 연구)

  • To examine the structure and distribution of the Keum River plume produced by continuous river discharge we carried out three-dimensional numerical model experiments with or without Coriolis force and tide. When Coriolis force is included but tide is not the model plume forms the clockwise circulation north of southern channel in the developing stage. As the plume expansion progresses the center of circulation moves to the southwest, with fuming the discharging axis of low-salinity water to the southwest from the mouth of southern channel. These results are explained mainly in terms of barotropic geostrophy by surface slope maintained with accumulated low-salinity(buoyant) water in front of the estuary mouth due to of offshore strong salinity front. When the M$_2$ tide is included the model plume extends farther to the northwest, forming large tongue-like salinity distribution. The tidally averaged surface flows of the offshore plume are mainly in geostrophic balance. These changes in plume distribution are explained in terms of low-salinity water advection by tidal excursion and active tidal mixing; the former supplies low salinity water to the north off the estuary mouth and the later increases mean sea level along the plume and surface salinity in northern shallow coastal area. The main features of observed Keum River plume(Lee et al., 1999; Choi et al., 1999), which showed the northwestward deflection of the plume axis and northward deepening of the plume thickness from the estuary mouth region, are well reproduced by the model in which tide is included.
