  • This study was designed to develop the scale of paternal parenting attitudes which has become an area of interest in child fostering study recently. Considering various factors extracted from previous Korean and foreign studies, the authors constructed a questionnaire composed of total 57 questions. It was applied to 126 mothers from families with no psychiatric patient in Seoul and Pusan who had at least onechild older than age 12 by random sampling. Then the authors extracted the factors which were able to compose the scale and evaluated the concurrent reliability. Also the authors selected mothers of 47 schizophrenic patients and 29 bipolar I patients diagnosed with the criteria of DSM-IV who have treated in Seoul National Mental Hospital and 46 controls which consisted of randomly selected mothers from normal families for the discriminative validity test. The results were as follows. The authors extracted 5 subscales of active participation, democratic guidance, warmth, hostility, devotion for education and Cronbach’s ${\alpha}$ value of each subscale which shows its internal consistency was .82, .78, .65, .78, .61 respectively. In the discriminative validity test, all subscales except ‘devotion for education’ subscale significantly discriminated between fathers of schizophrenics and control group. Furthermore ‘active participation’ subscale and ‘warmth’ subscale showed significant difference between fathers of control group and resting both father group of schizophrenics and biopolar I patients.

  • Some Volunteer Fire-Fighting Teams (VFFTs) play an important role in Civilian Volunteer Disaster Prevention by being managed effectively, but the others do not. There can be many cause-analyses about this difference. VFFTs aren't a profit-making organization and are a group which has no compulsion. So it is important that who the leader is, and what type of leadership he has. Furthermore VFFTs have hierarchy like fire-fighting teams and so the leader's command and judgement bring about the actual distinction in the organizational operation. Under this background, the survey has been carried out on the trust of leader and leadership type which may maximize the organization commitment. Consequently, to make efficiency of District Disaster & Volunteer Aid Network increase by augmenting organization commitment. The leader of VFFTs should get the transformational leadership rather than transactional leadership and have paternal or democratic leadership in the decision-making process. Especially we have to create a traditional and unique korean Volunteer fire-fighting organization culture through paternal leadership. Additionally, the trust on leaders should be recognized as a fundamental factor to obtain more performances beyond expectation by increasing the success and output of the team, mutual understanding and cooperation.

  • Owing to the production of conventional concrete/cement, the climate crises is increasing and is mainly caused greenhouse gas (GHG) emission into the environment by industrial process. To reduce the emission of GHG, and excessive consumption of energy, research on geopolymer binder is increasing as it is environmentally friendly compared to the conventional binders such as Portland cement. The research on improving the strength and durability of geopolymer cement becomes one of the trending researches. Generally, the strength and durability of geopolymer binders are improved by altering alkaline solution & its concentration, the precursor materials and curing temperature & time, which significantly influence the chemical composition and microstructure of geopolymer to which the strength and durability of geopolymers relies. This paper included the detailed discussion on the factors affecting the mechanical properties and durability of geopolymer binder and the influence of reaction mechanism on the strength and durability of geopolymer is also discussed in this paper.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess actor and partner effects of mothers' and fathers' parenting stress and family cohesion and flexibility on warm parenting behavior. Methods: The sample consisted of 1,471 couples from the Panel Study of Korean Children. The sample was drawn from the sixth wave of data collection, including mothers and fathers of children aged 60-66 months. Data were analyzed via actor-partner interdependence models. Results: The findings illustrated that the actor effect of parenting stress on warm parenting behavior was significant in mothers and fathers, but there was no partner effect. They also revealed that actor and partner effects were significant in relation to mothers' and father's parenting stress and family cohesion and flexibility. Moreover, there was an actor effect of family cohesion on warm parenting behavior for mothers and fathers, but its partner effect was significant only in mothers. Finally, the mediating effects of family cohesion and flexibility between parenting stress and warm parenting behavior was verified. Conclusion: The results highlight not only the need for dyadic data analysis for mothers and fathers but also the need to consider in depth the fathers' role in parenting. Additional implications are discussed.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the sequential mediating effects of self-esteem and positive peer play interaction between warmth parenting and the social competence of preschoolers. Methods: The 7th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children(2014) was used to analyze 1,113 preschoolers. Sequential mediation effects were analyzed using SPSS Process Macro(Hayes, 2013). Results: Warmth parenting indirectly affected preschooler's social competence (cooperation, assertion, self-control) by yielding sequential mediation effects on self-esteem and peer play interaction. Namely, warmth parenting does not directly affect social competence but does have a significant effect on preschooler self-esteem, which positively affected peer play interaction. This path increases the social competence(cooperation, assertion, self-control) of preschool children. Conclusion/Implications: In order to increase the social competence (cooperation, assertion, self-control) of preschool children, it is important for the preschooler to consider themselves a worthy person and to learn positive interaction techniques through warmth parenting.

  • Our study investigates the impact of paternalistic leadership on organizational citizenship behavior in the Chinese context. First, we explore whether the benevolent, moral, and authoritative dimensions of paternalistic leadership positively influence organizational citizenship behavior. Second, we examine the mediating role of affective commitment. Third, we investigate whether power distance orientation and follower's age moderate the paternalistic leadership-affective commitment-organizational citizenship behavior mechanism. The results confirm the positive effects of the three sub-dimensions. We also confirm power distance orientation and follower's age moderate the effect of benevolent and moral aspects of paternalistic leadership. These underscore the importance of a dimensional analysis of paternalistic leadership. Theoretical and practical implications are also suggested.

  • This paper aims to analyse the recent changes in social welfare services from a relational perspective. Discourses of the privatization of welfare state, the welfare mix approach, and consumerism have provided frames for interpreting the changes in social services in Korea. The nature of social welfare services, being a "relational goods" requires its focus to be in its relational aspects: the relation between service user and service practitioner; the relation between service user and provider; the relation between service user and government; the relation between service practitioner and provider; the relation between service practitioner and government; and the relation between service provider and government. Analysis of such relations will explore their transformation toward formalness and equality in social welfare services. In conclude, the study reveals a process of modernization, defined as a transition from informal relations to formal contractual relations, based on one's rights, responsibilities and obligations. Previous relations, of paternalistic, arbitrary and hierarchical characteristics, can be seen as being substituted by more formal, institutionalized and equalized relations. In terms of service purchasing contract between service user and service provider and employment contract between service provider and service worker are recognized with the latter characteristics. This relational analysis leads a discussion concerning the creation of institutional basis of one's rights and responsibilities in the fields of social welfare services in Korea.

  • This study attempted to discover the dimensions of Korean culture, with the presumption that the cross-cultural studies(Hofstede, 1980, 1997; Schwartz, 1992, 1994; Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner, 1997; House et al., 2004) have limitation to explain non-western culture including Korean culture. Even though there are some Korean cultural studies, they used heuristic approaches applying the authors' experiences and intuitions. This study applied the Cultural Consensus Theory to overcome the previous studies' shortcomings and to discover the dimensions that can be empirically proved by data. In specific this study conducted in-depth interview, used content analysis, did frequency analysis, and applied pilesort technique, multidimensional scaling and network analysis. As a result, this study obtained five categories: public self-consciousness, group-focused orientation, affective human relations, hierarchical culture, and result-orientation. It is expected that these dimensions can be used as important variables that may explain Korean social phenomena.

  • This study was conducted to find out the psychosocial-demographic factors affecting the ambivalent sexism and attitudes toward homosexuality of school health teachers. The data were collected from December 1st to 31st, 2019 by administering a structured online questionnaire for 138 school health teachers in S city. The data were analyzed via SPSS/WIN (25.0) to run Kruskal-Wallis 𝑥2 test, Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman's rank correlation, and Stepwise multiple regression. The results showed that the influential factors on the hostile sexism include authoritarian personality, age, extrinsic religious orientation, and education. Compared to this, the benevolent sexism had the influential factors of authoritarian personality, age, and education. The influential factors to the attitudes toward homosexuality found to include authoritarian personality, whether or not have a religion, and intrinsic/extrinsic religious orientation. School health teachers affect the educational experiences of students of their gender stereotyping and prejudice in the school environments. Therefore, it is needed to establish and provide training programs for school health teachers so that they can have reflections on their gender perspectives themselves, which may lead to true educational changes based on gender equality.
