Busan Biennale, began from 2000, has been argued that it would improve 'intrinsic introspection related to localism' against 'a lifestyle forced by capitalism in a global dimension', by promoting urban esthetic imagination in the public sphere of the city and reflecting it upon exhibited artworks. But Busan Biennale seems to reflect partly an attempt for new place marketing or urban reimagineering as a part of postmodern culture, even thought it has been planned to be an authentic stage or public-place art for citizens. This paper is to examine Busan Biennale 2006, held from Sep.16 to Nov.25 in Busan main theme of which is 'everywhere', constituted with three major projects: the Contemporary Art Exhibition, Sea Art Festival, and the Busan Sculpture Project. Ths paper considers first some implications of the transformation of modem to postmodern city, focusing on spatial representation of the city and public place art, and then tries to evaluate whether Busan Biennale is really embedded in the local authenticity and esthetic imagination for citizen or not. As concluding remarks, this paper suggests that Busan Biennale would be continuously developed, when it is oriented more towards local public-place art for citizens with their active participations rather than towards urban reimagineering strategy to make and promote an image of Busan as a global city.

This study investigated the perceptions and the characteristics of elementary teachers on teaching science-arts integrated activities. Twelve elementary teachers who have taught in the third to sixth grade science lessons participated in this study. Data was collected by individual interviews lasting 60 to 90 minutes. Interview questions were composed of three aspects: 1) how elementary teachers perceive science-arts integrated activities, 2) in what ways elementary teachers address science-arts integrated activities, and 3) what difficulties elementary teachers experienced in addressing science-arts integrated activities. The results showed that, first, elementary teachers agreed that science-arts integrated activities have educational value in science learning. Second, most teachers focused on improving understanding of science knowledge through teaching science-arts integrated activities, while several teachers put emphasis on having experience of arts as well as understanding of science knowledge. And third, teachers experienced difficulties due to insufficient teaching materials and time to prepare for teaching science-arts integrated activities. Based on the results, we suggested educational implications for utilization of science-arts integrated activities in elementary education.
Modern technology in the development and convergence of art brought the rapid development of the media arts actively accommodating 'media art' digital media. It has to go to expand the area and limitations as a basis of communication in the 21st century, a new artistic creativity, through the gathering of the existing chain of modern digital mobile technologies and new genre public art that is based on interactive communication break down the boundaries between sectors It has evolved into. This fusion of high technology and the art of mobile interactive media art is to overcome the limitations of time and physical space, as an active subject of interaction and participation, and expanding the range of experiential communications, such as art and science, cultural industries giving provides a flexible platform for a variety of applications. This study presents an expanded paradigm of the new communication and interactive media that define the reporting year review through the literature on art, experiential mobile communications through a case study of mobile interactive media art that is used as a medium of artistic expression the interactive effect was analyzed as a possible new public art. Convergence and interactivity, mobile interactive media art as a buzzword experience has proposed a new approach to high-tech and art and meet the new sensibility of our life and communication, unlimited possibilities worthy of the contemporary trend of convergence and consilience with a new art genre is expected to continued to evolve and develop.

'Experiments in Art and Technology' Group was established in the mid-20th century, and then developed the larger interdisciplinary experiments into the range of art world and its outside field. The motive power of group's activities was the collaboration between artists and engineers traversing the boundary between old different disciplinary conventions. E.A.T was officially launched in 1967 by the engineers Billy $Kl{\ddot{u}}ver$ and Fred Waldhauer and the artists Robert Raushenberg and Robert Whitman. They performed various possibility of material, technology, and engineering available to contemporary art. By reflecting the function of art and technology in society, eventually they developed the methodology of new aesthetics which had organic relationship with contemporary world. In this sense, this research have its academic significance. This paper firstly examined the socio-cultural context of emerging the E.A.T. group as a representative model for convergent practice, and verified the fact that the collaboration between artists and engineers had produced the expansion of artistic expression as well as new relationship among art, engineering, and society by considering E.A.T's various projects. Therefore, I will refer the E.A.T. group as an exemplary model for concrete method of collaboration that contemporary discourses about convergence need.
This paper discusses a way to differentiate contents and enhance the competitiveness of art spaces in rural regions through place assets, noting the growing number of rural art spaces and their great potential as cultural spaces in recent years. First, we surveyed existing research and resources to understand the current status and roles of rural art spaces in the context of theoretical discussions on place assets. Based on this, we classified place assets into physical, human, and symbolic elements. After that, we conducted two case studies that apply this classification. For the case studies on the Ami Art Museum and the Potato Flower Studio, we investigated the sites and conducted in-depth interviews with the directors following a qualitative research method. Our findings through the case studies show that Ami Art Museum and Potato Flower Studio remodeled closed school buildings, which are known as physical place assets in rural areas. However, there was a difference in utilizing other place asset elements, and this resulted in different types of differentiated contents. We found three types of rural art spaces from two case studies: inhabitant-friendly, artist-friendly, and tourist-friendly. Finally, in our research, we presented a method of utilizing place assets that differentiate rural art places along with a method for developing differentiated contents. To conclude, the significance of our study is that it attempted to find out a way to make rural art spaces sustainable, and sought cultural regeneration in rural areas through revitalization of rural art spaces.
Profound changes have occurred in the archival landscape since the advent of community archives and the global spread of archival art. This trend can be seen in Korea where a noticeable growth in archival arts and local community archives can be observed. This study explores how archival arts in Korea function when they are specifically intended to play a role in local community archiving. For this purpose, we analyzed the 'Gyeonggi archive_Now (2018)' and 'Seongbuk Documenta (2016-2018)' exhibitions, which were both exemplary cases of archival arts exhibited in connection with local community archives. Based on the analysis of the Gyeonggi Archive, which was aimed at strengthening the local identity of Gyeonggi Province, as well as the analysis of Seongbuk Documenta, which focused on the loss of place that resulted from redevelopment projects in the area of Seongbuk-gu, this study identifies the multiple roles of artists in archiving work. This study also reveals the variety of archiving works that exist and illuminates the value that such initiatives have in constructing local identity and reviving a sense of place. In particular, this research shows that archival art has the potential to empower local community archives while also providing opportunities to boost artistic creation. Our research concludes by highlighting the necessity of promoting the right environment and conditions that are required for archival arts if they are to play a role not only in keeping records and memories but also in producing further knowledge and discourse in a local community.
This study examines the forms and current status of online performance content production in the field of the performing arts through diversified video media platforms. For this, it studied the leading case of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment and analyzed the unique brand value innovation elements of Cirque du Soleil, the background and current status of the digital hub platform of "Cirque Connect", and its various sub-contents that have diversified original contents. Digital platform applications and sub-content production in the field of the performing arts require an understanding of the needs of the public, who are familiar with media content appreciation, and strategic planning that takes into consideration everything from the initial stages of performance planning to the creation of varied sub-contents. This will promote the improvement of sub-content quality and increase the product value of digital contents in the performing arts through distinctions made from other various forms of cultural and artistic contents. environments in which information from various perspectives related to performance works can easily be accessed through online platforms will enhance the popularity of the performing arts field and allow the performing arts industry to expand its base in rapidly changing cultural enjoyment methods. For the performing arts field to be competitive within cultural trends that are being diversified, the most important tasks to be completed are gaining brand value innovation that enhances the artistic and cultural value of performance works and based on this, producing various sub-contents.
Recently, the socio-economic interest in Large Language Models (LLMs) has been growing due to the emergence of ChatGPT. As a type of generative AI, LLMs have reached the level of script creation. In this regard, it is important to address the issue of discrimination (sexism, racism, religious discrimination, ageism, etc.) in the performing arts in general or in specific performing arts works or organizations in a large language model that will be widely used by the general public and professionals. However, there has not yet been a full-scale investigation and discussion on the issue of discrimination in the performing arts in large-scale language models. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to textually analyze the perceptions of discrimination issues in the performing arts from LMMs and to derive implications for the performing arts field and the development of LMMs. First, BBQ (Bias Benchmark for QA) questions and measures for nine discrimination issues were used to measure the sensitivity to discrimination of the giant language models, and the answers derived from the representative giant language models were verified by performing arts experts to see if there were any parts of the giant language models' misperceptions, and then the giant language models' perceptions of the ethics of discriminatory views in the performing arts field were analyzed through the content analysis method. As a result of the analysis, implications for the performing arts field and points to be noted in the development of large-scale linguistic models were derived and discussed.
The goal of the study is to provide a new type of audio-visualization method through case analysis and work production based on Polysomnography(PSG) data that is difficult to interpret or not familiar to the public. Most art works are produced with conscious actions during waking hours. On the other hand, during sleep, we get into the world of unconsciousness. Therefore, through the experiment, want to discover if could get something new when we were in the subconscious state, and if so, wondered what kind of art could be made through it. The study method is to consider definition of sleep and sleep data first. The sleep data were classified into normal group and Narcolepsy, Insomnia, and sleep apnea by focusing on sleep disorder graphs that is measured by sleep polygraph. After that, I refined and converted the acquired biometric data into a text-based script. The degree of sleep in the text form of the script was rendered as a 3D animated image using Maya. In addition, the heart rate data script was transformed into a midi format, and the audition was implemented in the garage band. After Effects combines the image and sound to create four single channel images of 3 minutes and 20 seconds each. As a result of the research, I made an opportunity for anyone easy to understand the results, having difference with the normal data, through art instead of using difficult medical term. It also showed the possibility of artistic expression even when conscious actions did not occur. Through the results of this research, I expect the expansion and diversity of artistic audiovisual expression of biometric data.
The purpose of this study is to objectively examine the effects of integrated art therapy on cognitive function and depression in the early dementia elderly, and to identify and discuss the process of change in the early dementia elderly through a comprehensive analysis through behavior change observation diary. As a research method, a mixed study was designed using in-depth analysis through qualitative studies as well as quantitative studies on the effect of integrated art therapy on cognitive function and depression in the elderly with early dementia. The quantitative study conducted a pre-post examination of 20 elderly people with early dementia using the day care center in P-gu, Suwon, and the qualitative study analyzed the behavioral change observation diary of 10 elderly people with early dementia. These findings show that first, integrated art therapy had a significant effect on the cognitive function of the elderly with early dementia (p<.001, t=-5.871). Second, integrated art therapy had a significant effect on the depression of the elderly with early dementia (p<.001, t=5.325). Third, the integrated art therapy program changed to a positive attitude before and after cognitive function and depression of the elderly with early dementia. By revealing the effect of integrated art therapy on cognitive function and depression of the elderly with early dementia through the results of this study, it is meaningful as basic data for research related to the elderly with early dementia as well as providing effective information on integrated art therapy programs related to the elderly with early dementia.
