본 연구는 대학생 영어 글쓰기 수업에 있어서 동료피드백을 활용한 수업이 어떤 효과를 발휘하는지를 밝힌 것이다. 대학 현장에서 많은 학생들은 글쓰기에 상당한 부담을 갖고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 상황을 반영하여 학생들의 부담을 덜 수 있는 효과적인 영어 교수법이 바로 동료피드백을 활용한 글쓰기라 할 것이다. 이는 글쓰기 과정 중심에 초점을 맞춘 것으로 발달단계, 초고작성단계, 수정편집단계에 유용하게 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

This study investigated the current state of writing in research papers of science education with focus on the translationese and basic Korean grammar, and found a way of improving the Korean language. The science education research have characteristics of both social science and natural science, and of having more quantitative than qualitative research, which could influence the writing of the research paper. The translationese means the conventional expression originated from foreign language other than Korean. The basic Korean grammar includes 'agreement,' 'spelling, word spacing, punctuation mark,' 'causative suffix,' 'use of English or loanword,' and the translationese is divided in 'English,' 'Japanese,' and 'English and Japanese.' The sentences in nine research papers in the 'Journal of the Korean Association for Science Education' were analyzed, and the problematic sentences were discussed and provided with alternatives. The cases with high frequency include '-jeok,' 'use of English,' 'expression of the plural,' 'passive voice of the verb with -hada,' '-go inneun,' '-eul tonghayeo,' '-e daehayeo,' 'gajida,' 'genitive case marker -eui,' 'passive voice with subject of thing,' and 'causative suffix, -sikida.' Based on the results, the characteristics of writing of science education research papers were described as 'writing of quantitative research,' 'objective writing of academic research,' and 'writing of research of foreign origin.' In order to improve the writing of research paper of science education, the science education researcher should pay attention to basic Korean grammar and the translationese, and be familiar with the concrete examples of problematic cases. The results of this study could be used in the education of writing and grammar of Korean language.

This study aims to examine the effects of CF about learners' English writing through FL on English improvement and the factors that influence class satisfaction. For achieving this purpose, response to CF and feelings about CF were selected as predictive variables. It is intended to investigate how these variables predict learners' satisfaction. A total of 94 university students were placed into two groups: 48 experimental group, who received CF on their writing through FL, and 46 control group given traditional instruction. All the participants took pre/post tests including writing tasks, and the experimental group completed a questionnaire after the instructional treatment. The findings indicated that FL affected English improvement and both response to CF and feelings about CF predicted class satisfaction. Based on the findings, this study sheds light on the implications of how to manage the FL class efficiently.

This paper presents the current status of creative writing education through examining studies which have been published since 2000 and discusses the future direction. Following the Korean government's educational slogan to nurture creative and competent talents, creative writing, as one of foundational skills across disciplines, had begun to be introduced into the curriculum of liberal arts colleges from early 2000s and has become a required course since 2015. Although many studies on creative writing education have been conducted during this period, whether creative writing, which enhances creativity dealt in cognitive sciences, can be recognized as an independent field of study calls for in-depth discussion. The ongoing issues concerning creative writing education involve a lack of professional instructors and absence of the operational and evaluative system. What's necessary is a clear definition of the extent of creative writing education; the educational efficiency of the proposed contents also need further verification. Therefore, as the basis for future constructive conversation, the current paper recapitulates the literature on creative writing education in Korean universities, classifying studies based on periods and cases of contents, and presents the direction regarding the operation of and research on creative writing education.

This study aims to examine how the use of Padlet, an online platform, affects students' English writing anxiety and English writing strategy in online college English writing classes. A total of 64 college students participated in the study and completed the survey including English writing anxiety, English writing strategy and demographic information. For the study, we divided participants into 2 groups, experimental group using Padlet for their writing tasks and control group using college e-learning during a semester. The results showed that students using Padlet used more writing strategies than the students using college e-learning platform. The use of Padlet, however, was not statistically significant on writing anxiety. English writing anxiety was differed by English level, but decreased at the end of semester regardless of English level. The results imply that Padlet is a useful online learning tool for English learners to actively use English writing strategies and even for learners with low English writing proficiency.

The purpose of this study is to analyze Yun Chi-ho's English Diary both quantitatively and qualitatively. A corpus of 574 diary texts is created from his first and last years in an English speaking environment, and analyzed by two language analysis programs, RANGE and Coh-Metrix. His later diaries have more words in total, and longer average sentence length than his earlier diaries. Also, the Coh-Metrix indices in syntactic complexity and referential cohesion are higher in his later diaries. A qualitative analysis of 57 diary texts shows some improvement in his use of language forms. The most frequent topics of his journals are Christianity, everyday life, politics of Korea and his English studies. His constant effort to keep his journal and correspondence with foreigners, almost all in English, is estimated as one of the key factors for his successful English acquisition. Educational implications for EFL writing courses are discussed.

The purpose of this paper is to develop RPG based learning content for English low-achievers at elementary school and to verify the educational effectiveness of this content. Design strategies were elicited by reviewing curriculum and literature. Educational RPG was developed based on ADDIE model. The researchers implemented them in four 5th-grade English low-achievers for two months. Free writing, interviews and observations of the homeroom teacher were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the content. As a result, English low-achieving students became interested in RPG itself, raised their expectations and became more satisfied in learning. When students completed missions while playing games, they gained satisfaction and were challenged by the new missions. This had a positive effect on learning motivation, or "continuing motivation" as mentioned by Keller.

The present study was conducted to investigate science and engineering graduate students' proficiency in technical English writing and their perceptions of research ethics. Given that graduate students in science and engineering colleges usually write journal articles as well as dissertations in English, this study examined their experience of and preparation for technical English writing, writing practices, and research ethics including plagiarism. The results of the study show that it is very necessary to intensify education on research ethics and to provide educational training in proper citation practices. These findings can be used as a basis for the development of future academic curricula and other support resources to improve science and engineering graduate students' technical English writing.

Coleridge's fame as a poet rests on the achievement of the mystery poems, "The Anceint Mariner," "Kubla Khan," and "Christabel." Coleridge's achievement in "Christabel" goes far beyond what previous critics have imagined. Coleridge is one of a handful of great writers who are included as representatives of androgyny. Throughout his life, Coleridge was accustomed to point out feminine qualities within himself. "Christabel" exemplifies the kind of writing contemporary feminist theories call l'écriture féminine. L'écriture féminine is not necessarily the creation of women but may rather be the works of those who refuse to identify with the father and the laws of paternal discourse. "Christabel" becomes Coleridge's most daring symbolic story. "Christabel" appears in its full significance as a vehicle for some profound insights into the dynamics of relationships between men and women, fathers and daughters. Through her deformity, Geraldine is actually the casualty of her father's hatred of women, and is the embodiment of all its anti-virtual aspects. The poem shows no bitterness against women, only compassion and remorse. Coleridge is sympathetically presenting Christabel's suffering as a woman at the hands of an overmastering man. Also, "Christabel" demonstrates woman power as well. In fact, the one person whose tales have any real effect within this narrative is the ambiguous Geraldine. Geraldine excels at story-telling, at making words act for her. Perhaps, despite the appearance of the surface, in which men hold all the cards, it is in fact women, or the feminine, so necessary to procreation and creativity, who hold sway here. This apparent dominion of the feminine derives at least partly from Coleridge's use of the conventions of that feminine genre, the Gothic romance. L'écriture féminine is a concept defined by its divergence from a dominant cultural norm. One may speculate that the fragmentary state of "Christabel" and "Kubla Khan" is in fact congruent with this mode of writing. If these poems imply a theoretical écriture féminine, they are by definition "incomplete," for completeness is a standard of patriarchal language and culture. More perplexing even than the other "mystery poems," "Christabel" is the true fragment of the three.

With the recent rise in the use of AI-based online translation tools, interest in their methods and effects on education has grown. This study involved 30 prospective elementary school teachers who completed an English writing task using an AI-based online translation tool. The study focused on assessing the impact of these tools on English writing skills and their practical applications. It examined the usability, educational value, and the advantages and disadvantages of the AI translation tool. Through data collected via writing tests, surveys, and interviews, the study revealed that the use of translation tools positively affects English writing skills. From the learners' perspective, these tools were perceived to provide support and convenience for learning. However, there was also recognition of the need for educational strategies to effectively use these tools, alongside concerns about methods to enhance the completeness or accuracy of translations and the potential for over-reliance on the tools. The study concluded that for effective utilization of translation tools, the implementation of educational strategies and the role of the teacher are crucial.
