The Effect of Workplace Spirituality of Art Psychotherapists on Perception and Attitude toward Delinquent Youth (예술심리치료사의 일터영성이 비행청소년에 대한 인식 및 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of workplace spirituality of art psychotherapists on the perception and attitudes toward delinquent youths. The subjects of this study included 115 art psychotherapists in Seoul City. The analysis methods were frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 22.0 program. Study results found that the vocational consciousness and transcendental consciousness of art psychotherapists had a significant influence on the perception of delinquent youths, and the inner consciousness, empathy consciousness, and community consciousness did not have a significant effect. Second, it was found that art psychotherapist's inner consciousness, community consciousness, and transcendence consciousness had significant influences on attitudes toward delinquent youths. This means that the higher the art psychotherapist's vocational consciousness and transcendental consciousness, the higher the perception of delinquent youths, and the higher the inner consciousness, community consciousness, and transcendental consciousness, the higher the attitudes toward delinquent youths. The implications of this study are expected to provide basic data for preparing plans to improve the perception and attitudes toward delinquent youths by art psychotherapists.

An Integrative Review of Meditation Program for Stress Relief of Nurses (국내 간호사의 스트레스완화를 위한 명상프로그램에 관한 통합적 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study was to review meditation programs for stress relief of Korean nurses. Whittmore and Knafl's integrative review methods were used. The search yielded 97 articles, 7 of which met the criteria and were included in the review. One of the selected studies was a randomized controlled quasi-experimental design and six were a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Meditation programs varied from 5 to 8 sessions. All of the meditation programs measured the effect on stress as various meditation programs. However, there was one study confirming the degree of stress management maintenance after the end of the meditation program. Although there are contents to strengthen the practice and will of nurses, it was confirmed that it was difficult to evaluate sincerity. Therefore, a highly accessible program for nurses in various clinical situations and strategies to strengthen participants' practice and will needs to be included in the meditation program content.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of a new bibliotherapy program on the happiness index of University students. The results were as follows: Firstly, we can raise the happiness index through the new bibliotherapy program. More specifically, we can reduce negative emotions to a great extent, and raising the level of satisfaction with life is effective. But increasing positive emotions is not easy. Secondly, Effect of bibliotherapy program on the factors of Happiness is different by various situations. Thirdly, reaction of participants of bibliotherapy program to religeous and spiritual media is different.

Church School Kindergarten Teacher Education Programs for Teachers' Perceptions and Needs Analysis (교회학교 유치부 교사교육프로그램에 대한 교사들의 인식 및 요구)

  • This study aims to analyze the recognition and demands of church school kindergarten teachers enrolled in a kindergarten teacher training program. 278 kindergarten teachers in the Seoul and Gyeonggido area were chosen as the research objects and questionnaires were distributed to and recollected from them. The questions cover 3 areas: the recognition, necessity and contents of the training program for kindergarten teachers. The data from the collected questioners were processed to bring in frequency and percentage by question and an X2 test was employed to see whether there was a difference among background variables. In addition, mean and standard deviation were used for the questions regarding the program contents. The results showed that the teachers had a deep interest in and awareness of the necessity of the program. Among the demographic variables, they turned out statistically different by academic career, education-related career and major. Second, the list of the demands they made for the training contents for kindergarten teachers showed that they wanted, in the order of importance; educating parents, understanding young children, handling techniques of troubled children, effective communication skills with young children, and understanding their traits and teaching methods by trait and spiritual training of teachers.

Effects of a Spiritual Care Education Program based on the Action Learning on Spiritual Needs, Spiritual well-being and Spiritual Care Competence of Nursing Students (액션러닝 기반 영적간호 교육 프로그램이 간호대학생의 영적요구, 영적안녕 및 영적간호역량에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the action learning-based spiritual care education program on nursing students' spiritual needs, spiritual well-being, and spiritual care competence. This study was a pre-post test design with single group and participants were recruited from second-year nursing students at a University. From September to December 2014, the students participated in the action learning-based spiritual care education program, which were held 16 times, had decreased their spiritual needs and improved spiritual well-being and spiritual care competence. The data were analyzed using paired t-test with the SPSS WIN 23.0 statistics program. The results of this study indicate that the action learning-based spiritual care education program was effective in decreasing spiritual needs and improving spiritual well-being and spiritual care competence for nursing students. The nursing students, which provide a holistic care, will grow up to be a professional nurse by learning the nursing process including spiritual care. Also, an action learning-based education program should be developed in the various fields.

Spiritual and Psychosocial Effects of the Spirituality Promotion Program on Clinical Nurses (영성 증진 프로그램이 임상 간호사의 영적 및 심리사회적 상태에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of the Spirituality Promotion Program(SPP) for young nurses working in the stressful university hospital environment. Methods: The study included 41 nurses in the experimental group, nurses who had worked less than 5 years and completed 8 weeks of SPP between June and July in 2011. The control group, 44 nurses, also received the same program after the study was completed. For the study, a survey was conducted of all participants concerning spirituality, perceived stress, positive and negative affect, empathy, job satisfaction, and leadership practice. Results: No significant difference was found between the two groups on study variables. Perceived stress decreased significantly in the experimental group (p=.012). Spirituality (p=.019), positive affect (p=.014), empathy (p=.004), job satisfaction (p=.016), and leadership practice (p=.021) increased significantly in the experimental group. Conclusion: The results show that the Spirituality Promotion Program has positive effects on the spiritual and psychosocial aspect of young nurses. Continuation of this program for nurses is recommended in order to help them develop their self-care ability and improve nursing competency.

How the middle-aged women view her own life? (중년 여성들의 삶에 대한 조명)

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify what's the middle-aged experience until now and what's the middle-aged women shed light on their life. The phenomenology study design was used and Giorgi method was used for this analysis. We selected 7 middle-aged women for this study such as 2 professor, 1 dentist, 1 own-business woman, 1 house house wife, 1 Nurse, and 1 farming woman. The result of this study were as followers; there were 7 structure factors such as 'poor family economic status', 'meaning of family-of-origin', 'dynamic social experience', 'marriage', 'heartrending', 'getting feeling of aging', and 'focus of life'. According to the results of this study, the participants who were more positive feeling of their poor family status, they were more becoming professional job in the adult age. And they shed light on their life with spirituality through the dynamic social experience, marriage, and heartrending. Therefore we suggest that right spiritual program for the better old aged time for them.

Predictors of Successful Aging in Community-dwelling Elders and Mediation Effect of Transcendence (지역사회 노인의 성공적 노화 예측요인과 초월감의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify predictive factors of successful aging and to determine mediating effect of transcendence between successful aging and influencing factors of community-dwelling elders in Korea. 162 elders were participated in this study who visited seniors welfare center and senior citizen center. Data were analyzed by PASW 18.0 for t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and hierarchical regression analysis. Transcendence, parent-child relationship, depression, spirituality and perceived economic status were statistically significant influencing factors, explained 77% of successful aging in community-dwelling elderly. The mediating role of transcendence was identified about parent-child relationship, depression, spirituality and perceived economic condition. The study findings demonstrated that transcendence was significant variable affecting successful aging. The variables affecting successful aging such as transcendence, parent-child relationship, depression, spirituality, perceived economic status can be utilized for nursing strategies to successful aging in community-dwelling elders.

Effect of The Spiritual Care Module Education Program for Nurses (간호사의 '영적간호모듈' 간호교육프로그램의 적용 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to verify the effects of spiritual care module education programs by applying it to nurses. Method: The study employed a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design in a quasi-experimental basis. Subjects were 93 nurses (46 in an experimental group and 47 in a control group) with more than two years clinic experience, attending a bachelor program of K University, in I city, Korea. The program consists of courses with 2.5 hours per week for seven weeks. Result: Scores of spiritual needs and spiritual nursing competence increased significantly in the experimental group. The score of spirituality and spiritual well-being also increased in the experimental group, but not significantly. Conclusion: The spiritual care module education program was considered to be an effective nursing intervention education course. Nurses educated with this program seemed to perform better nursing interventions for subjects facing difficulties or confusion by helping them restore and cope with those problems by themselves. Therefore, it is recommended that spiritual care module education should be settled as a regular course of nursing college with consideration to the corrections and supplements mentioned in this study.

Effects of Integrated Dementia Managing Programme for the Elderly with Mild Dementia in Nursing Home (요양시설 입소 경증치매노인의 통합 치매관리 프로그램의 적용 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the integrated dementia managing programme for the elderly with mild dementia in which the physiological, cognitive, emotional, sociological and spiritual aspects have considered. Methods: This study employed non-equivalent control group pre-post tests with the repeated measure design. The subjects of the study were 39 elderly with mild dementia (20 in the experimental group and 19 in the control group) who have admitted to two nursing homes in B city. The data were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA. Results: There were significant interactions between two groups and times in self-efficacy (p=.011), cognitive function (p<.001), depression (p=.005), spiritual well-being (p=.002), and quality of life (p=.037). The integrated dementia managing programme of this study showed significant positive effects on the quality of life for the elderly with mild dementia. Conclusion: On considering the current trends of aging and increasing number of the elderly with dementia, this integrated programme would be highly recommended to be used in nursing homes for the elderly with mild dementia, and contribute to improving their quality of life, and saving the social and medical expenses as well.
