Collision Detection and Resolution Protocol for Intra-Vehicle Wireless Sensor Networks (차량 내 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 충돌 검출 및 해결 프로토콜)

  • This paper proposes a medium access control protocol for collision detection and resolution when a large number of sensor nodes transmits data in vehicle. The proposed protocol selects a random collision detection (CD) slot after data transmission, suspends its transmission and senses the channel to check whether a collision occurs by the detection of both energy level and jam signal. The proposed scheme uses multiple CD phases and in each CD phase, colliding stations are filtered and only surviving stations compete again in the next CD phase; thus, the collision resolution probability significantly increases. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol using the multiple CD phases has significantly better throughput than the conventional protocol. In addition, according to the number of CD phases and the number of CD slots per phase, the throughput aspect of the proposed scheme is investigated and the optimal parameters are derived.

Subspace Method Based Preceding for Spatial Multiplexing with Limited Feedback (제한된 피드백 정보를 사용하는 공간 다중화를 위한 부 공간 방식 기반 Precoding 기법)

  • In this paper, for spatial multiplexing with limited feedback, we propose subspace method based preceding in which the active bases are selected at the receiver from a finite number of basis sets Down at both receiving and transmitting ends, conveyed to the transmitter using limited feedback, and assembled into a preceding matrix at the transmitter. The selected bases are conveyed to the transmitter using feedback information on both the index of the selected basis set, which defines the most appropriate set of coordinates for describing a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel, and the principal bases maximizing the capacity in the selected basis set. We show that the proposed subspace method based preceding provides a capacity similar to that of the closed-loop MIMO even with limited feedback.

An Hierarchical Key Management Scheme for Assure Data Integrity in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN에서 데이터 무결성을 보장하는 계층적인 키 관리 기법)

  • A main application of sensor networks are to monitor and to send information about a possibly hostile environment to a powerful base station connected to a wired network. To conserve power from each sensor, intermediate network nodes should aggregate results from individual sensors. However, it can make it that a single compromised sensor can render the network useless, or worse, mislead the operator into trusting a false reading. In this paper, we propose a protocol to give us a key aggregation mechanism that intermediate network nodes could aggregate data more safely. The proposed protocol is more helpful at multi-tier network architecture in secure sessions established between sensor nodes and gateways. From simulation study, we compare the amount of the energy consumption overhead, the time of key transmission and the ratio of of key process between the proposed method and LHA-SP. The simulation result of proposed protocol is low 3.5% a lord of energy consumption than LHA-SP, the time of key transmission and the ration of key process is get improved result of each 0.3% and 0.6% than LHA-SP.

Scalable and Robust Data Dissemination Scheme for Large-Scale Wireless Sensor Networks (대규모 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 확장성과 강건성이 있는 데이터 전송 방안)

  • In wireless sensor networks, data dissemination is based on data-centric routing that well matches the publish/subscribe communication paradigm. The publish/subscribe paradigm requires decoupling properties: space, time, and synchronization decoupling. For large-scale applications, the three decoupling properties provide scalability and robust communication. However, existing data dissemination schemes for wireless sensor networks do not achieve full decoupling. Therefore, we propose a novel data dissemination scheme that fully accomplishes the three decoupling, called ARBIETER. ARBITER constructs an independent network structure as a logical software bus. Information interworking between publishers and subscribers is indirectly and asynchronously performed via the network structure. ARBITER also manages storage and mapping of queries and data on the structure because of supporting different time connection of publishers and subscribers. Our simulation proves ARBITER show better performance in terms of scalability, network robustness, data responsibility, mobility support, and energy efficiency.

  • In this study, we propose newly designed feedback field-effect transistors that utilize the positive feedback of charge carriers in single-gated silicon channels to achieve steep switching behaviors. The band diagram, I-V characterisitcs, subthreshold swing, and on/off current ratio are analyzed using a commercial device simulator. To demonstrate the changing characteristics of hysteresis, one of the important features of the feedback field effect transistor, we simulated changing the gate insulating material and the gate metal electrode. The fluctuation in the characteristics changed the $V_{TH}$ of the hysteresis and showed a decrease in width of the hysteresis.

MRI Artifact Correction due to Unknown Respiratory Motion (미지 호흡운동에 의한 MRI 아티팩트의 수정)

  • In this study, an improved post-processing technique for correcting MRI artifact due to the unknown respiratory motion in the imaging plane is presented. Respiratory motion is modeled by a two-Dimensional linear expending-shrinking movement. Assuming that the body tissues are incompressible fluid like materials, the proton density per unit volume of the imaging object is kept constant. According to the introduced model, respiratory motion imposes phase error, non-uniform sampling and amplitude modulation distortions on the acquired MRI data. When the motion parameters are known or can be estimatead a reconstruction algorithm based on biliner superposition method was used to correct the MRI artifact. In the case of motion parameters are unknown, first, the spectrum shift method is applied to find the respiratory fluctuation function, x directional expansion coefficient and x directional expansion center. Next, y directional expansion coefficient and y directional expansion center are estimated by using the minimum energy method. Finally, the validity of this proposed method is shown to be effective by using the simulated motion images.

  • In the conventional public switched telephone network(PSTN), there are various types of modulation that can be used in ADSL to offer fast data communication, two of which are CAP(Carrierless Amplitude Phase) and DMT(Discrete MultiTone). As we consider the current situation, DMT is getting more predominant in the market than CAP. One of the reasons is that it gives high performance in spite of its high complexity Since DMT divides the full range of bandwidth into 256 sub-channels, it can be highly adaptive in the circumstances, where the problems of attenuation and noise caused by the propagation distance are very crucial. In this paper, a new bit loading algorithm for DMT modulation is proposed. The proposed algorithm can be efficiently implemented in a way that it requires less computation than the conventional modulation techniques. In contrast to the conventional algorithms which perform sorting processing, the proposed algorithm uses look-up tables to reduce the repetition of calculation. Consequently, it is shown that less processing time and lower complexity can be achieved.

Ray Tracing Method Based on Spectral Distribution for Reproducing a Realistic Image (실사영상 재현을 위한 분광분포 기반의 광선추적기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an improved reproduction algorithm for a realistic image of the real scene based on the spectral distribution of lights and objects. The proposed method for the realistic image is focused on a more accurate reproduction of an image incident on the sight of the viewer. At first, to reproduce an image accurately incident on a sight of viewer, we used the backward ray tracing method based on spectral distribution of object and illuminant representing its physical characteristic used in real. Next, we propose utilizing the improved shading model of the reproduction algorithm of realistic image by applying Bouguer-Beer's law to consider an optical absorptive property of transparent objects. We also define a new ambient light term which is considered the diffuse reflection of neighboring objects instead of constant ambient light. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reproduce the visually similar image with a scene incident on a sight of viewer.

The Synchronous Control System Design of a Dual Electric Propulsion System for Small Boats (소형 선박용 듀얼 전기추진시스템의 동기제어시스템 설계)

  • Recently, electric propulsion systems are used for unmanned surface vehicle, fish finder boat, etc. Some of these propulsion systems can be constructed of two electric motors and propellers for advanced impellent force. In this case, the speed difference generated between two propellers, namely, the synchronous error has a bad influence on the energy efficiency and course error. In this study, a synchronous control system is designed to restrain synchronous error caused by disturbance and mismatched dynamic characteristics. The control system is composed of the reference model, pre-filters, speed controllers, and synchronous controllers. The reference model is used for calculating the decoupled synchronous error and control input for each propulsion system. The pre-filters and speed controllers are designed in order that the propulsion system may follow the reference signal without overshoot and input saturation. And the synchronous controllers are designed from the viewpoint of stable and quick synchronization through root locus mothed approach. Finally, the simulation results show that the designed control system is effective for the disturbance.

Research on the Development of the Supercritical CO2 Dual Brayton Cycle (초임계 이산화탄소 이중 브레이튼 사이클 개발 연구)

  • Because of the growing interest in supercritical carbon dioxide power cycle technology owing to its potential enhancement in compactness and efficiency, supercritical carbon dioxide cycles have been studied in the fields of nuclear power, concentrated solar power (CSP), and fossil fuel power generation. This study introduces the current status of the research project on the supercritical carbon dioxide power cycle by Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER). During the first phase of the project, the un-recuperated supercritical Brayton cycle test loop was built and tested. In phase two, researchers are designing and building a supercritical carbon dioxide dual Brayton cycle, which utilizes two turbines and two recuperators. Under the simulation condition considered in this study, it was confirmed that the design parameter has an optimal value for maximizing the net power in the supercritical carbon dioxide dual cycle.
