  • This paper has been studied about algorithm teaching methods for improving the problem-solving skills and creativity in rapidly changing information society. Especially the algorithms for teaching about computer is very important. Because it is effective learning content for finding the best solution to solve a problem and improve the students' logical thinking. However, teaching algorithms can be monotonous to children on account of using only computer and languages. So It needs to consider about the cognitive structure and level of elementary school students. Therefore, this study has the purpose to acquaint students with the principle of algorithm and improve problem-solving and creativity using games, not computer.

The Implications of Content Schemata for Standardized Reading Tests

  • This article reports that a testee's content schemata have detrimental effects on the validity of standardized reading comprehension tests. in case that the reading passages constitute his prior background knowledge framed by regular academic pursuits focused on a major field of study. The empirical research findings on such a reliability issue have shown that the Korean subjects' familiarity with the content domain of the reading materials may substantially enhance their test performance, operated as unfair advantages over the other participants at the same level of English proficiency who do not possess technical knowledge closely related to the contents of the test passages. Based on these results, it may be argued that the reading text should be composed of maximally neutral contents to every testee to avoid the possible overlapping between a test-taker's content schemata and the content domain of the materials. Therefore, this article claims that the tenets of schema theory with its long-standing foundation on culturally predetermined content and formal schemata need to be expanded to cover professional knowledge structures, like those acquired by higher education, as the hard-wired framework of an individual's original culture-specific background knowledge.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the speaker recognition system which can select one of operating modes in FES for general paralysis patients. As spiral injury by traffic accident, industrial disaster, or stroke has been increased, the development of FES(Functional Electrical Stimulator) system is urgent to prevent paralysis and atrophy, and to assist the patients walking. For these patients we developed FES system(1). To operate this system one of several operating modes must be selected. As this can not be done by general paralysis patients, an attempt has been tried in this study to select the mode by speaker recognition system. RSC-300 of sensory co. has been chosen as a speaker recognition chip, and PIC16F84 is adapted to interface RSC-300 and FES system.

Relationship between Preschoolers' Executive Function and Verbal Ability (3, 5세 유아의 실행기능과 언어능력의 관계)

  • The aims of this study are to investigate the differences of the preschoolers' executive function and verbal ability according to their age, and to identify whether the preschoolers' executive function is related to their verbal ability. The participants in this study are 151 children, ages 3-and 5-years old from five child-care centers located in a middle-income region of Seoul. Statistical methods used for the data analysis are the frequencies, means, standard deviations, an independent t-test, and Pearson correlation. The major findings are as follows. First, an age difference is found for children's executive function. The 5-year-olds are more likely to succeed on tasks of executive function than the 3-year-olds. Also, age difference is found for children's verbal ability. The 5-year-olds perform better on tests of verbal ability than the 3-year-olds. Last, the 3-year-olds' and 5-year-olds' executive function is related to their verbal ability. Inhibition and cognitive flexibility are significantly correlated with verbal ability. These results suggest that preschoolers' executive function and verbal ability develop during preschool age. These results also suggest that preschoolers' executive function is related to their verbal ability.

  • The objective of our large credit project-based undergraduate subject is to help students to combine programming language skills and learned algorithms into a complete IT solution. This paper describes our experience in running an undergraduate 9 credit project-based subject 'Enterprise Solution Development' of Youngsan University. Proven educational effect showed that solution development experience helps students be more competitive in the job market thus makes contribution in human resource development.

A Study on Modelling Readability Formulas for Reading Instruction System (독서교육시스템을 위한 텍스트수준 측정 공식 구성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine factors affecting text difficulty and to model objective formulas which measure readability scores. Some readability-related factors such as total number of letters, total number of syllables, total number of unique syllables, total number of sentences and total number of paragraphs were found through correlation analysis. Some regression equations with these factors as their variables were produced through regression analysis. A model estimating readability score from total number of unique syllables was a good formula, while a model with two factors, total number of unique syllables and new syllable occurrence ratio, was a better enhanced one. The readability score represents detailed level so we can recommend students read texts corresponding to their reading levels.

  • Because the 3-Tier structure cia share a business logic, the reuse of existing code could be guaranteed Al so tiny and little client application in charge of user interface can he made that it doesn't need plenty of client memory and calculation capability. Catering system that capable of meal material code management autom atic production of requiring quantity, purchase and shipping management menu management, account management was developed for grafting 3-Tire structure technology using database language and ADO(ActiveX Dat a Object). This system improved production in field of school lunch program and saved o(poises. finally, this system is suitable to the service environment of school lunch program and lots of utilizations would be anticipated.

  • The communication and collaboration of mobile agents are efficient in doing information processing in the Internet. Therefore, this paper proposes an efficient communication mechanism that support to inter-agent communications and collaborations. For the remark mentioned above, a mobile agent system provides an indirect meeting mechanism as well as an extended information pool, which has an effect on decreasing network bandwidth. In addition, some proposed communication methods can support to message multicasting so that those are effectively adapted for a model of group agent. Finally, the proposed mechanism is implemented and analyzed in the MAS, a mobile agent system model developed by the Java language.

  • In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, programming education is becoming more important. However, it takes a lot of time and practice for students to acquire programming skills. In particular, students find it more difficult to learn object-oriented languages such as JAVA and C++, which are widely used in the industrial field. In this paper, we propose a visualization method of object interaction that can help to educate the concept of object-oriented programming, understand functions, and improve source code analysis and understanding. The proposed visualization method automatically changes the existing source code and visualizes the operation of the objects simultaneously with the execution of the program.

  • This study is for developing a programming education course to improve pre-service teachers' pedagogical content knowledge(PCK) of programming education. A 40-hour training course was designed with App Inventor, a block-based mobile programming environment, and with problem-based learning method and project-based learning method. After the curriculum was adopted to 12 undergraduate students, the effect of education was tested with a programming PCK questionnaire. As a result, after a 20-hour problem-based learning class, overall score and teaching method score were enhanced significantly. After another 20-hour project-based learning class, content knowledge, teaching method, and curriculum score were improved.
