The Effects of a School Zone Improvement Project on Crash Reduction Regarding Land Use Characteristics (토지이용 특성별 어린이 보호구역 개선사업의 교통사고 감소효과 분석)

  • The first phase of School Zone Improvement Project introduced to enhance the safety of school-routes were completed by 2007 and the second phase of the project will be continued from 2008 to 2012. Since a huge budget is required for the project, there is a need to evaluate how many child-related crashes were reduced through the project, prior to the implementation of the second phase. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of the School Zone Improvement Project on reduction in child-related crashes with data collected from the database of the National Police Agency. This study employed a Before-and-After study with comparison group to assess how many crashes were reduced. The results showed that the number of child-related crashes were decreased by 10, which is about 39% reduction in crash frequencies. With respect to the land use characteristics of school zones, the number of reduced crashes in residential zone, commercial zone, and mixed zone were 2.41, 3.8, and 0.5, respectively. The results may provide a significant implication for the second phase of the project that there is a need to establish different plans for improvement project with respect to land use characteristics.

Accident Prevention and Safety Management System for a Children School Bus (어린이 통학버스 사고 방지 및 안전 관리 시스템)

  • As the use of children's school buses increases, accidents caused by the negligence of school bus drivers and ride carers have also increased significantly. To prevent such accidents, the government is coming up with various policies. We propose an accident prevention and safety management system for children's school buses. Through this system, bus drivers can easily check whether each child is seated and whether the seat belt is used, so it is possible to quickly respond to children's conditions while driving. With the ability to recognize faces by analyzing camera images, children can use a seat belt that is automatically adjusted to their height. It is therefore possible to prevent secondary injuries that may occur in the event of a traffic accident. In addition, a sleeping child-check system is provided to confirm that all children get off the bus, and a text service is provided to inform parents of their children's locations in real time. Based on Raspberry Pi, the system is implemented with cameras, pressure sensors, motors, Bluetooth modules, and so on. This proposed system was attached to a bus model to confirm that the series of functions work correctly.

A Development of Traffic Safety Education Application Using Mixed Reality (혼합현실을 활용한 교통 안전교육 애플리케이션 개발)

  • In this study, we developed a "Zetton Children's Traffic Safety Education" application using mixed reality to help children experience a variety of traffic situations indirectly and to help them defend themselves from accidents. We analyze the types of high mortality child traffic accidents to set learning goal. And we developed the experience-oriented contents that players could acquire signal systems and traffic information naturally and funny in the course of playing scenarios according to designed various traffic situations. In order to verify the educational effectiveness of the developed application, children were given traffic safety education through after-school education activities. The result shows that the frequency of right answers to questions related to traffic safety awareness and learning objectives is increased.

Structural Analysis of Door Safety Device (도어 안전장치의 구조해석)

  • This study is door safety device for the structural analysis are described. Recently emerged as a key point of the door safety and increase the need of a door safety device. In order to improvement this inconvenience, the door safety device was design and structural analysis by using CATIA. CATIA utilizes door safety device element model for displacement, stress and strain energy were obtained. Consideration of door open angles were $95^{\circ}$, $100^{\circ}$, $105^{\circ}$, $110^{\circ}$, $115^{\circ}$, $120^{\circ}$. These results will be provided to develop new concepts of door safety device as initial data.

어린이 물놀이 안전사고 및 응급처치

  • 주로 여름철에 발생하는 익사사고는 강에서 멱을 감는 소년층에서 가장 많다. 대부분은 안전수칙을 잘 지키지 않거나 수영미숙 등으로 사고가 많이 일어나며 또한 수심이 갑자기 깊어지는 경우에 일어나기도 한다. 그 외에도 수영장이나 바다에서도 익사가 발생하고 있다. 익사사고는 기도에 물이 들어가는 질식사가 주원인이나, 실제로 기도나 폐에 물의 양이 많지 않은 경우가 대부분이며 때로는 기도에 물이 전혀 없는 후두경련으로 인한 기도폐쇄 즉 건성익사도 있다. 사고 시 소생술 시작이 늦으면 늦을수록, 소생술자의 경험이 미숙할수록 치사율은 높으며 나이가 어릴수록 소생 후에도 더 위험하다.

  • In order to realize a safety society in traffic accidents, Korea prepared comprehensive government-wide measures in 2017. Efforts are being made to minimize accidents while walking by children and the elderly by lowering the speed limit in urban areas from 60 km to 50 km and limiting the vehicle to 30 km in the case of child protection zones. In this study, after pre-processing each data with the status of vehicle registration and traffic accident spatial data (GIS) by designating a specific area, Danyang-gun, where the rate of child traffic accidents is increasing every year, it is intended to understand the structure of the data and find out the structural pattern of the data analytical studies were conducted.

  • There is high probability of children's traffic accidents. Because their physical, mental attribute are weak. Major part of the accidents happen during walking. Above all, jaywalking is the biggest traffic accident reason. Many traffic accidents take place on the road to school or near the home area. So Ministry of Public Administration and Security legislated children safeguard zone since 1995. But a study are inadequate the safety facilities on the effectiveness verification in the school zone. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of safety facilities. The vehicle speed is a direct correlation traffic accident. So in this study, the MOE(Measure of Effectiveness) is average travel speed in the school zone. The results shows that hump, rised pedestrian crossing has an effect.

  • 어린이들은 어른에 비해 신체조건이나 정신조건이 연약해 특별한 보호가 필요하다. 어른이 돌보아주는 것이 마땅하지만 경제적 여건 등으로 혼자 남겨질 수 밖 에 없는 경우 이를 대신할 로봇이 필요하다. 어린이를 위협하는 위험요소들 중 환경오염과 안전사고에 대한 문제를 파악한 후 해결방안을 제시하였다. 로봇의 대상으로 어린이들이 선호하는 펭귄을 선정하였고 아이디어스케치, 3D 렌더링을 진행하여 최종모델을 제작하였다. 가상 시나리오를 통해 로봇의 사용 사례를 제시하였다.
