Complexity Reduction of HEVC SAO Intra Modes By Adjustment of Offset Values (HEVC SAO 인트라 모드 오프셋 값 조정을 통한 복잡도 감소)

  • In this paper, we propose a complexity reduction method of sample adaptive offset (SAO), which is an in-loop filter in high-efficiency video coding (HEVC). In the conventional SAO, an offset value is calculated for each coding tree block (CTB) to minimize the error between the original and reconstructed images. In order to determine the optimal offset value, all offset candidates are examined and the offset value that leads to the smallest rate-distortion cost is chosen. Thus, SAO occupies a significant amount of the computational complexity in the HEVC encoder. In the proposed method, we determine the least-used band (LUB) by considering the statistical characteristics of offset values and without processing the offset value included in the LUB. Also, in the offset value decision stage, we check only a certain number of candidates rather than all of them. Experimental results show that the proposed method reduces the encoding time by approximately 8.15% without yielding a significant loss in terms of coding efficiency.

  • This study porvides an empirical overview of the import patterns of Incheon port using an Engle-Granger cointegration technique and Johansen's multivariate cointegraion methodology test to check the stationarity of the model. The empirical results show that the import in Incheon port related to the economic variables. This paper also applies rolling regression to our model, indicating that import are endogeneous to the economic variable.

Convergence effects of collaborative peer tutoring on communication ability and self-leadership of nursing students (협동동료교수학습이 간호대학생의 의사소통능력과 셀프리더십에 미치는 융합적 효과)

  • This study is to find convergent effects of collaborative peer tutoring on communication ability and self-leadership of nursing students. According to the results of Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis test using SPSS/WIN 19.0 for the survey of communication and self-leadership before and after experiments, there were significant differences of personality type, discussion preference and leadership in communication, and of motive of admission, leadership and school grades in self-leadership. There were positive correlations between communication and self-leadership before and after treatments. The results of Wilcoxon signed ranked test showed cooperative peer tutoring increased communication ability and self-leadership significantly each(p=.008, p<.001). These results could be used in developing intervention programs for enhancing communication and self-leadership of nursing students after further studies with wider range of subjects and setting control group.

  • This paper deals with Reed-Solomon Coding for EUROFIX system EUROFIX is an integrated navigation and communication system, which combines Differential GNSS and Loran-C EUROFIX transmits DGNSS(Differential Global Navigation Satellite Systems) (data by pulse position modulation of Loran-C pulses. Loran-C system is regarded as a satellite backup system in recent. And now, it is important to detect and correct much errors in communication systems. Error corrections or correction algorithm is actively studied nowadays because of this. In this paper, we study and design encoder and decoder of Reed Solomon Code using Finite Galois Field Fourier Transformation for error corrections in EUROFIX data transmission. Through extensive simulation, the designed Reed Solomon code is shown to be effective for error correction in EUROFIX data transmission.

The proposition of attributably pure confidence in association rule mining (연관 규칙 마이닝에서 기여 순수 신뢰도의 제안)

  • The most widely used data mining technique is to explore association rules. This technique has been used to find the relationship between each set of items based on the association thresholds such as support, confidence, lift, etc. There are many interestingness measures as the criteria for evaluating association rules. Among them, confidence is the most frequently used, but it has the drawback that it can not determine the direction of the association. The net confidence measure was developed to compensate for this drawback, but it is useless in the case that the value of positive confidence is the same as that of negative confidence. This paper propose a attributably pure confidence to evaluate association rules and then describe some properties for a proposed measure. The comparative studies with confidence, net confidence, and attributably pure confidence are shown by numerical example. The results show that the attributably pure confidence is better than confidence or net confidence.

  • A voluminous research on efficiency employs the DEA(Data Envelope Analysis) models. There are, however, only very few that have an interest in the factors influencing such efficiencies. We, furthermore, do not see any studies which analyze the long-term efficiency of the logistics providers using the panel cointegration techniques. The purpose of this paper, hence, is to evaluate the efficiency, analyse its determinants and show a long-term relationship between turnover and the other variables employing the SBM(Slack Based Measure) model, Tobit model, the panel procedure and the FMOLS(Fully Modified OLS). The panel data are composed of 9 individuals and 6 years. The panel cointegrating vectors show that the group coefficient of asset and employees is not only significant but has expected signs, while some of the individual coefficients are insignificant or/and exhibit wrong signs. The panel cointegrating vectors from fully modified OLS also indicate that the estimated coefficients of the panel analysis tend to be overvalued and the asset influences the turnover far greater than the employee does.

Effects of the Instability of International Financial Market on Port Import from China in Korea (국제금융시장의 불안정성이 한국의 대중국 항만 수입에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper examines the relationship between port import from China and macroeconomic variables such as international financial crisis, exchange rate, and industrial production during the period 2000-2009. I employ GPH cointegration methodology since the model must be stationary to avoid the spurious results. The empirical results show that our model is stationary as well as mean-reverting. This paper also applies impulse-response functions to get additional information regarding the responses of the port import to the shocks economic variables such as financial crisis, exchange rate, and industrial production. The results show that the response of port import to exchange rate and financial crisis declines at the first and dies out slowly.

  • In this paper we propose an integrated media format for a photo album including media resources and corresponding meta-data The main purpose of the integrated media is to be more reusable meta-data and to facilitate constructing a photo album from a large number of photo images as well. The proposed media format is based on MAF(multimedia Application Format) which is recently going on progress in MPEG standards. In this paper, we propose the integrated media consisting of JPEG data and content-based meta-data based on MPEG-7 MDS. We verified the usefulness of the proposed media through experiments with implementation of encoder and photo MAF player for the MAF-based media format.

  • In this study, Multi-Values Logic processor was designed using the basic circuit of the electric current mode CMOS. First of all, binary FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) was extended and high-speed Multi-Valued Logic processor was constructed using a multi-valued logic circuit. Compared with the existing two-valued FFT, the FFT operation can reduce the number of transistors significantly and show the simplicity of the circuit. Moreover, for the construction of amount was used inside the FFT circuit with the set of redundant numbers like [0,1,2,3]. As a result, the defects in lines were reduced and it turned out to be effective in the aspect of normality an regularity when it was used designing VLSI(Very Large Scale Integration). To multiply FFT, the time and size of the operation was used as LUT(Look Up Table) Finally, for the compatibility with the binary system, multiple-valued hybrid-type FFT processor was proposed and designed using binary-four valued encoder, four-binary valued decoder, and the electric current mode CMOS circuit.

  • Recently, with the development of three-dimensional scanning devices and multi-dimensional array cameras, research is continuously conducted on techniques for handling three-dimensional data in application fields such as AR (Augmented Reality) / VR (Virtual Reality) and autonomous traveling. In particular, in the AR / VR field, content that expresses 3D video as point data has appeared, but this requires a larger amount of data than conventional 2D images. Therefore, in order to serve 3D point cloud content to users, various technological developments such as highly efficient encoding / decoding and storage, transfer, etc. are required. In this paper, V-PCC bit stream created using V-PCC encoder proposed in MPEG-I (MPEG-Immersive) V-PCC (Video based Point Cloud Compression) group, It is defined by the MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) standard, and provides to be composed of segments. Also, in order to provide the user with the information of the 3D coordinate system, the depth information parameter of the signaling message is additionally defined. Then, we design a verification platform to verify the technology proposed in this paper, and confirm it in terms of the algorithm of the proposed technology.
