  • The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a scale to measure the ethical awareness of users who accept artificial intelligence technology or service. To this end, the constructs and properties of AI ethics were identified through literature analysis on AI ethics. Reliability and validity were assessed through a preliminary survey(N=273), after conducting an open-type survey to men and women(N=133) in 10s to 70s nationwide, extracting the first questions, and reviewing them by experts. The results of an online survey conducted on men and women(N=500) were refined by confirmatory factor analysis. Finally, an AI technology ethics scale was developed. The AI technology ethics awareness scale was developed with 16 questions in total of 4 factors (transparency, safety, fairness, accountability) so that general awareness of ethics related to AI technology can be measured by detailed factors. In addition, through follow-up research, it will be possible to reveal the relationship with measurement variables in various fields by using the ethical awareness scale of artificial intelligence technology.

  • Along with the advances in medical technology and the economic development, more terminally ill patients are receiving hospice and palliative care services. Moreover, hospice and palliative care clinicians have been showing considerable interest in studies that aim to improve the quality of said care for patients and their families. Meanwhile, after the government has strengthened its policy to protect research participants, the institutional review boards (IRBs) are more closely examining various ethical issues related to patients' vulnerability when reviewing protocols for hospice and palliative care research. However, terminally ill patients should be provided with guaranteed qualities of hospice and palliative care to improve and maintain their quality of life. To that end, support should be provided for efforts to conduct ethical and safe studies with hospice and palliative care patients. Thus, this review paper proposes ethical guidelines for hospice and palliative care research. The guidelines could be appropriately used as a reference for researchers who should prepare for ethically safe and scientifically valued research protocols and the IRBs that will review the protocols.

  • This paper analyses the codes of ethics of eight engineering societies in USA and Korea focusing on fundamental canons, and major findings are as follows. Firstly, engineering societies in Korea began to make a code of ethics recent1y. Secondly, codes of ethics in USA have similar contents by mutual learning contrary to Korean cases. Thirdly, some codes of ethics in Korea are very poor and their presence are not well perceived. Fourthly, codes of ethics in Korea don't cover comprehensively responsibility to the public, to employers or clients, and to the profession. • In today's era, where internet technology and culture are advancing rapidly, the importance of systematic internet ethics education has been underscored to address the insufficient levels of internet ethics among college students. This research primarily focused on assessing the level of internet ethics among college students, who represent a significant proportion of internet users. The innovative Flip Learning teaching method and the introduction of the Wheeler Model, along with the application of frequency measurement theory, allowed us to explore ways to maximize the effectiveness of the education. It was confirmed that students who received internet ethics education demonstrated improved levels of ethics. This study concluded that significant progress has been made in systematizing and effectively promoting internet ethics education. It also proposed the need for systematic ethics education and provided future directions for improving internet ethics education.

  • This paper deals with nanoethics as a sort of extension of engineering ethics utilizing various books, articles, and reports concerning historical, social, and ethical aspects of nanotechnology. After a brief examination on the place and development process of nanotechnology, ethical issues on nanotechnology are analysed including safety problem, impact on environment, violating privacy, social inequity, military use, and human enhancement. The basic principles on nanoethics are proposed such as promotion of public understanding, construction of participatory governance, contribution to sustainable development, commitment to precautionary principle, and compliance with research integrity. Lastly, integrated method in nanoethics education is illustrated putting lecture model, investigation model and discussion model together. This paper can provide the contents available for nanoethics education, and make a basis for the sound development of nanotechnology.
