The purpose of this study was to identify groups depending on the change trajectory of child maltreatment in childhood and early adolescence. For this study, the data from waves two through six (2011-2015) of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) were used. Participants included first-grade (n=2,300) and fourth-grade (n=2,325) elementary school students. A latent class growth model (LCGM) using Mplus 7.21 was adopted to classify the types of developmental trajectories of child maltreatment. The main results were as follows: First, in physical abuse, childhood from the second to the sixth grades was classified into four groups: decreased, low maintenance, increased, and no maltreatment type. In addition, early adolescence from the fifth grade of elementary school to the third grade of middle school was also classified into the same types. Second, in emotional abuse, childhood was classified into three groups: decreased, increased, and no maltreatment type. Early adolescence was classified into four groups: decreased, low maintenance, increased, and no maltreatment type. Third, in neglect, childhood was classified into four groups: maintenance, low decreasing, low increasing, and no maltreatment type. Early adolescence was classified into three groups: maintenance, low increasing, and no maltreatment type. According to the change of child maltreatment by developmental period, physical abuse continued from childhood to early adolescence, whereas emotional abuse and neglect increased in early adolescence compared to childhood. This study is meaningful in classifying latent classes depending on maltreatment types. Theoretical and practical implications were suggested based on the study results.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of maternal risk factors for adverse childhood experiences on children's emotional and physical abuse and neglect as well as parenting stress. Methods : This is a secondary data analysis study utilizing raw data from the 2017 National Survey of Child and Family Life Experiences. A total of 1,937 mothers with at least one adverse childhood experience were categorized into low-risk (1-3), moderate-risk (4-6), and high-risk (7 or more) groups to examine the differences in children's emotional and physical abuse and neglect and parenting stress and identify the influencing factors through regression analysis. Results : Maternal adverse childhood experiences were 50.4% in the low-risk group, 39.8% in the medium-risk group, and 9.7% in the high-risk group. Child emotional abuse was 45.0%, child physical abuse was 13.2%, child neglect was 3.5%, and parenting stress was 2.13 (±0.61) on average. Adverse childhood experiences were significantly more likely to be associated with emotional and physical abuse, neglect, and parenting stress in the medium- and high-risk groups than in the low-risk group. The regression analysis showed that the model explained 35% of child emotional abuse, 25% of child physical abuse, 19% of child neglect, and 16% of parenting stress. Conclusion : The higher the risk of adverse childhood experiences of parents, the more their children experience emotional abuse, physical abuse, child neglect, and parenting stress.
Based upon the first national sample of adult men and women, the study aims to examine the prevalence of chid sexual abuse in Korea and factors related to the incidence of child sexual abuse. The results of the study show that 20.8% of the sample experienced one or more types of sexual abuse in their childhood, which indicates that Korean society is not any longer immune to child sexual abuse. With regard to how to cope with sexual abuse, "not informed to anyone and did not get any help at all" is the most major one for all types of sexual abuse. Even those who got help were reported to depend heavily upon private routes such as parents, relatives, or friends, indicating the urgency of establishing systematic intervention schemes for the problem. The results of a logistic regression analysis show that gender of the child, involvement in delinquent behaviors, economic status of the family, number of siblings, and residence in high-crime region are significantly related to the incidence of child sexual abuse. These results of the study would be expected to provide a useful guideline for developing policies or intervention programs aimed to prevent or address child sexual abuse.
This study investigated the differential effects of childhood trauma, especially neglect, emotional abuse, and physical abuse on stress perception in relation to the ToM (theory of mind), among one-hundred and fifty five college students. For this purpose, self-reported childhood neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and stress levels during the previous week were measured. Social cognition was measured using a ToM questionnaire which asked respondents to guess the intentions of the person in each vignette by providing additional hints. In order to examine the predicting role of childhood trauma and mediating role of ToM, two distinct structural models assuming full (Model 1) and partial (Model 2) mediational effects were compared using structural equation modeling. The partial mediational model was supported and the main results were as follows. First, childhood neglect indirectly predicted stress perception through the effect of the ToM. Second, childhood emotional abuse directly predicted stress perception. Third, childhood physical abuse had no distinct effect on stress perception. Finally, the limitations of this study and the implications for future studies are discussed.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of child neglect and abuse by parents on school adjustment of school-aged children focusing on mediating effect of school-aged children's self-awareness and peer attachment. For this purpose, we analyzed the data of fourth wave Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) including parents' child neglect and abuse, school-aged children's school adjustment, self-awareness and peer attachment. A total of 2,378 children and their parents using structural equation model of mediating effects responded to the survey. Measurement model and structure model had favorable goodness of fit and the results of structure models on each path were as follows. First, school-aged children's school adaption had negative correlations with parent's child neglect and abuse, but positive correlations with their self-awareness and peer attachment. Second, parent's child neglect and abuse influenced on school-aged children's school adjustment by partial mediators, their self-awareness and peer attachment. These findings showed practical way to increase school-aged children's self-awareness and positive peer attachment.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of childhood abuse experience, analyze factors affecting gender role attitudes, find out the moderating effect of social support, and suggest preventive measures and alternatives for childhood abuse experiences. proceeded. This study was conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, through a domestic violence survey conducted every three years in accordance with the 「Act on the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Victim Protection, etc.」 Analysis was performed on 4,546 people and 4,514 men. As a result, it was found that childhood abuse experience had a negative (-) effect on gender role attitudes, and the analysis of the moderating effect of social support also showed a negative (-) effect. In the future, it is necessary to strengthen awareness of childhood abuse prevention and child protection from the beginning of life, and it is suggested that the level of children's parental education and social support and sufficient measures be prepared for future research.
The purpose of this study was to explore the concurrent and lagged effects of parental neglect and abuse on longitudinal changes in late childhood school adjustment. This study utilized survey data from the fourth through seventh iterations of the Korean Child Youth Panel Study conducted on fourth-year elementary school students through first-year middle school students. The data was analyzed using latent growth modeling. The results were as follows. First, the level of school adjustment decreased gradually. Second, both neglect and abuse had concurrent effects on school adjustment. Third, neglect had lagged effects on school adjustment but abuse did not. The paper discusses the implications of these results. The results of this study can be used to better understand and support children who have suffered neglect or abuse adjust to school during late childhood.
To verify the mediating effects of parent attachment and self-resilience between childhood abuse trauma among Ex-offenders, prsent study collected data from 510 Ex- offenders who are given the housing support from Korea Rehabilitation Agency. SPSS 21.0, M-plus 7 programs were used to analysis the collecting data. As a result, there were positive correlation between childhood trauma and recidivism, and there were negative correlation among the recidivism, parent attachment, and self-resilience. Indirect affect of parnet attachment was found between childhood trauma and recidivism. Also, indirect affect of self-resilience was found between childhood trauma and recidivism among the Ex-offender. The implication, and limitation of this study are discussed.

This study illuminates the relationship between childhood abuse experiences and early maladaptive schemas, and compares the moderating effects of expressive suppression and cognitive reappraisal within this relationship. Conducting a self-report survey among 220 graduate students in Daejeon and Chungcheong regions, data from 210 participants were analyzed. The results notably revealed that the interaction effect of suppression, but not cognitive reappraisal, significantly moderates the relationship between childhood abuse experiences and disconnection/rejection schemas. Specifically, high levels of expressive suppression were associated with a decrease in the negative impact of childhood abuse on disconnection/rejection schemas, whereas low levels of suppression increased this negative impact. This suggests that for individuals with long-standing early maladaptive schemas, which have solidified over time akin to personality traits, cognitive reappraisal strategies may be less effective in inducing change. Conversely, expressive suppression strategies may more effectively reduce the intensity of disconnection/rejection schemas, among other early maladaptive schemas. These findings provide important implications for understanding the long-term effects of childhood abuse and developing intervention strategies to mitigate its resultant maladaptive schemas. Based on the outcomes of this study, suggestions for future research are discussed, along with the potential applicability and limitations of suppression and reappraisal strategies in psychological interventions.
This study has the purpose to examine trauma of male, female alcoholics and understand the factors influencing the trauma and relative influence of trauma to provide implementing social welfare practice.
