  • Traditionally, the engineering field has been dominated by face-to-face education focused on experimental practice, but demand for online learning has soared due to the rapid development of IT technology and Internet communication networks and recent changes in the social environment such as COVID-19. In order for efficient online education to be conducted in the engineering field, where the proportion of experimental practice is relatively high compared to other fields, virtual laboratory practice content that can replace actual experimental practice is very necessary. In this study, we developed a line tracer model and a virtual experimental software to simulate it for efficient online learning of microprocessor applications that are essential not only in the electric and electronic field but also in the overall engineering field where IT convergence takes place. In the developed line tracer model, the user can set various hardware parameter values in the desired form and write the software in assembly language or C language to test the operation on the computer. The developed line tracer virtual experimental software has been used in actual classes to verify its operation, and is expected to be an efficient virtual experimental practice tool in online non-face-to-face classes.

  • The aim of the study was to verify the effects of simulation-based stroke care education on the nursing performance ability and satisfaction among nursing students. The study used a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. A total of 64 nursing students in a nursing college participated in this study. The participants were assigned conveniently according to the academic year to either the experimental group in 2013 (n = 32) or control group in 2014 (n = 32). The experimental group received a simulation-based stroke care education, and the control group received a clinical placement with self-directed practicum. The data was analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the scores of the overall nursing performance ability (z = -3.373, p < .001) and satisfaction (z = -3.245, p = .001) in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group. Overall, simulation-based stroke care education is an effective teaching strategy of improving the nursing performance ability and satisfaction among nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of simulation-based practice and clinical practice on nursing students' critical thinking disposition and nursing process confidence. This study is a quasi-experimental design using the non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest only design, targeting 103, 4th grade(51=control group, 52=experimental group) in the Department of Nursing at D University. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program, and the main research results are as follows. Students who experienced simulation-based practice showed significant improvement in critical thinking tendencies(t=-3.28, p=.001) compared to those who experienced clinical practice. There was no significant difference in nursing process confidence (t=-1.78, p=.079), but it was significantly higher in actual application, collaborative contsistency, and nursing contsistency. As a result, There were no significant difference in some, but it was contfirmed that simulation-based practice improved the critical thinking disposition and nursing process confidence in of nursing students. In addition to clinical practice, it is considered necessary to study simulation-based practice using repetitive practice and standardized patients in a free simulation practice environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to test the effects of simulation practice education on clinical judgment, self-confidence, and clinical performance ability of nursing student. This study used a one group, pre-post test design. The subject of this study were 45 second grade nursing students who participated in the simulation practice education. Data were collected before and after the simulation practice education using the questionnaire. As a result of this research, the improvements of the clinical judgment, self-confidence, and clinical performance ability were statistically significant. Therefore, the simulation practice education has a positive effect on nursing students in terms of the clinical judgment, self-confidence, and clinical performance ability.

  • The purpose of present research is to offer a specialized educational opportunity for potential users, university students in radiology, by developing specific curriculum on site at KAERI, using HANARO research reactor and National radiation research facilities. The specific items of this research accomplished are: First, Development and operation of various curricula for specific research using HANARO and National radiation research facilities to provide university students with opportunities to use the facilities. Second, Operation of the experiment training programs for university students in radiology to foster next generation specialists. Third, through the on-site experiment training for students in radiology, support future potential experts of the radiation research fields, and broaden the base. A textbook and a teaching aid, a questionnaire have been developed to support the program. 714 university students have completed the courses for radiology experiment from 2006 to 2017. It is hoped that these experiments broaden public awareness and acceptance by the present and potential future utilization of the research reactor and national radiation research facilities, thereby bring positive impacts to policy making.

  • In this paper we suggest an effective teaching plan for measurement engineering by utilizing the NI-ELVIS(National Instrument Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite). ELVIS is a development platform for LabVIEW-based design and prototyping environment. It consists of LabVIEW-based virtual instruments, a multifunctional data acquisition device, and a custom-designed benchtop workstation and prototyping board. Therefore it can replace the expensive instruments for the effective education in the area of electrical engineering. This platform can be applicable for the sensor instrumentation engineering study, though it is a multidisciplinary learning including electrical engineering, sensor technology, signal processing and data analysis. We hope this approach can be used for the other educational area related the electrical experimental education.

  • This study was done to compare the effects of learner-led and faculty-led fundamental nursing practice on skill performance, self-directed learning, problem-solving competency, and satisfaction. The learner-led practice was consisted of pre-class open lab and peer supervision. The faculty-led practice was consisted of faculty supervision for a student individually without pre-class open lab. The study was a pre-posttest, non-synchronized, quasi-experimental design between two groups. Data from 134 nursing students in either faculty-led (n=54) or learner-led fundamental nursing practice group (n=80) was collected using a checklist and self-reported questionnaire. Nursing skill performance score and class satisfaction of the learner-led group were significantly higher than those of the faculty-led group. This study showed that learner-led fundamental nursing practice consisting of pre-class open lab and peer supervision was an efficient practice method to improve students' skill performance and satisfaction maintaining their self-directed learning ability and problem-solving competency.
