Effects of Health Practices and Oral Health Behaviors on Obesity in University Students (일부 대학생의 건강 실천행위 및 구강건강행위가 비만에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was to identify the obesity(BMI), health practices and oral health behaviors of university students and provide basic data for the development of a health promotion program for healthy campus communities. Total 177 students filled out a self-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed for descriptive statistics, chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression to evaluate the effects of health practice and oral behaviors on obesity. This study shows that the prevalence of obesity was 27.7%. Univarate analysis demonstrated that gender, age, the preference of salt, sleep in every day, self-perceived general health, the visiting the dentist during the past year were significantly different according to BMI. In multivariable regression, preference of salt, sleep in every day, the visiting the dentist during the past year were independent predictors of BMI, after adjustment of gender and age. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of obesity prevention program in overall, eating habit, mental health and oral health behavior in students.

Effects of Physical Activity Practice Rates and Knowledge Related to Cardiocerebrovascular Disease Prevention on Health Behavior Case Study Focusing on Middle Aged Women with Risk of Central Obesity (중심비만 위험인자를 가진 중년여성의 신체활동 실천율, 심뇌혈관질환 예방관련 지식이 건강행위에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of physical activity practice rates and knowledge related to cardiocerebrovascular disease prevention on the health behavior of middle aged women. Data were collected from Oct to Nov 2017 from 142 middle-aged women living in 24 Eup, Myeon, and Dong areas in North Gyeongsangbuk-do Province using a structured questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The major factors influencing health behavior were found to be alcohol consumption (${\beta}=0.15$, p=0.009), diet (${\beta}=0.16$, p=0.003), vigorous intensity (${\beta}=0.14$, p=0.011), marriage (${\beta}=0.19$, p<0.001), interest in one's own health (${\beta}=0.23$, p<0.001), and health recognition (ill: ${\beta}=0.31$, p<0.001). Alcohol consumption and diet were factors of cardiocerebrovascular knowledge, vigorous intensity was a factor of physical activity practice rate, marriage and interest in one's own health were factors of general characteristics, and health recognition was a factor in health-related characteristics. Health-promotion activity was positively correlated with knowledge regarding cardiocerebrovascular disease prevention (r=0.41, p<0.001) and physical activity practice rate (r=0.44, p<0.001). It will be necessary to develop and apply practical intervention programs based on disease prevention knowledge and physical activity to enhance the health behavior of middle aged women.

Influence of COVID-19 Knowledge, Risk Perception, Anxiety on Preventive Behaviors of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 코로나19 관련 지식, 감염 위험지각, 불안이 감염예방 행위에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate COVID-19 Knowledge, Risk Perception, Anxiety and Preventive Behaviors, and to identify the influencing factors on Preventive Behaviors of nursing students. Data were collected using questionnaires from 342 nursing students in Gwangju, November 2021. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. The total mean scores were as follows: COVID-19 Knowledge, 13.25±1.38; Risk Perception; 4.57±1.34, Anxiety; 44.55±9.66, Preventive Behaviors; 7.66±1.55. Preventive Behaviors was found to have significant positive correlations with COVID-19 Knowledge and Risk Perception). The most influential factors influencing the Preventive Behaviors of nursing students were Experience in education related COVID-19 prevention, Risk Perception, COVID-19 Knowledge. In conclusion, in order to develop the Preventive Behaviors of nursing students, it is necessary to apply a program that improve the COVID-19 prevention education and Knowledge, and to control Risk Perception according to the individual level.

A Study of Social Worker's Reflective Thinking and the Usage of Practice Skills (사회복지사의 반성적 사고수준과 사회복지실천기술의 활용정도)

  • This study investigated the relation between social worker's reflective thinking levels and the usage of social work practice skills. Dewey definded reflective thinking as active, persistent and careful consideration of any belief. And social work practice skills refer to those purposeful intervention activities, that are intended to alleviate client's distress, enhancing a client's coping abilities. Reflctive thinking levels consists of intensive reflection, reflection, understanding and habit action. The key of social work practice skills can be categorized into three major categories: supportive skills, therapeutic coping skills and case management skills. These categories were designed to apply to a diverse range of client populations. This paper proves that social work's reflective thinking ability and interactions with other workers have an effect on the intervention activities. In conclusion, this research indicates that if social works have a higher reflective thinking levels, they will creat practice siklls and social work practice knowledge.

Effect of Education of Diabetes Mellitus Patients on Health Behaviors Practice (당뇨병환자 교육이 건강행위실천에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • 본 연구는 당뇨병환자의 교육이 건강행위실천에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하기 위해 시도하였다. 연구대상자는 서울에 소재한 한 종합병원 내과 외래를 방문한 당뇨병 환자를 대상으로 실험군 51명, 대조군 51명인 총 102명이다. 교육 2회 실시 후 2010년 1월 5일부터 2월 5일까지 설문조사하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 당뇨병지식은 실험군에서 교육전 평균은 7.46점에서 교육후 10.12점으로 효과적으로 나타났다(P<0.01). 둘째, 당뇨병관리는 실험군에서 교육전 평균점수는 23.41점에서 교육후 26.17점으로 유의하게 높았다(P<0.01). 셋째, 상관관계 결과 당뇨병지식과 건강실천의지(r=0.26, P=0.03), 건강실천의지와 당뇨병관리(r=0.67, P=0.00)는 유의한 양의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 당뇨병 예방을 포함한 다양한 당뇨병 지식 내용의 프로그램을 개발하여 집중적인 교육이 필요하다.

Development of a Tool to Measure Childcare Teachers' Safety Practice care Behavior (보육교사의 안전돌봄 실천행위 측정 도구 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop safety care practice measurement tool for childcare teachers. The tool for this study was developed and validated according to DeVellis' scale development process. The construct validity of the instrument was analyzed by major analysis of Varimax rotation, and the internal inertia was verified by Cronbach's α. The final scale was a 4-point scale, consisting of 22 items in 7 domains. The total explanation was 59.32% and the Cronbach's α was .80. Therefore, it is judged that the tool developed in this study is a useful tool to measure the level of safety practice care behavior of childcare teachers.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand and define the health-promotion behavior of adolescents in Korea. This study collected data from twelve high school students using group and individual in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed qualitative study with grounded theory method by Strauss and Corbin(1998). As for the study result, the core phenomenon was the Lifestyle without health promotion and the mediation conditions for controlling were Parents' Care for Health, Friends with Health Behavior, and lack of exercise environment, and the action/interection strategy to correspond to this situation was Strengthening the will to practice health promotion, Imitate a friend with a nice body, Learning parental health behavior. This study will serve as basic data in developing health promotion programs for the practice health promoting behaviors of high school students.

A Study on the Influence Factors of Health Promotion Behavior of Examinees Preparing for The Civil-Service Examination (공무원시험 준비 수험생들의 건강증진행위 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the health promotion behavior level, health beliefs, and self-efficacy of individuals preparing for civil service examinations, as well as the main factors that influence their health promotion behavior. The study subjects were 290 individuals who were preparing for civil service examinations in Noryangjin, where there are a lot of private institutions that provide training for the examinations. Data were collected by questionnaire surveys conducted from December 1 to 19, 2017. With the use of SPSS ver. 23, descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression were conducted. On average, the score for health promotion behavior practice was $2.37{\pm}0.45points$, health beliefs $3.13{\pm}0.45points$, and self-efficacy $3.55{\pm}0.74points$. Health promotion behavior was significantly positively correlated with perceived severity and perceived benefits, which are sub factors of health beliefs (r=.60, p<.001; r=.55, p<.001), while it was significantly negatively correlated with perceived barriers, which are a sub factor of health beliefs (r=.32, p<.001). The factors that influenced health promotion behavior were perceived health condition and perceived barriers, and the explanatory power of health promotion behavior was 25.1% (F=13.58, p<.001). In general, respondents studied for the examinations for a long time and were under severe job pressure; accordingly, they need to have quality meals, regular exercise, and regular medical check-ups to enhance health promotion behavior to control their stress.

Knowledge, Attitudes and Compliance Regarding Infection Preventive Behaviors for MERS among Staff in Long-term Care Hospitals (요양병원 종사자의 메르스에 대한 지식, 태도 및 감염예방행위 관계)

  • This study was conducted to identify the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and compliance regarding infection preventive behaviors among long-term care hospital staff during a Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) epidemic. The subjects were 211 staff members of a long-term care hospital in J province evaluated using a structured survey. Data were collected between June 15 and July 15, 2015 and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 24.0 based on an independent t-test, ANOVA, and Welch test, while post-hoc tests were conducted using the Scheffe test and the Grames-Hawell test. The MERS knowledge score of the staff at the long-term care hospital was high for nurses and nurse aids, who had experienced infection management when they received influenza vaccine in the previous year and were provided with easy access to hand sanitizers. Attitude towards MERS was more positive for nurses than nurse aids and caregivers. The degree of execution of infection preventive behaviors in terms of daily activity was high when influenza shots were received in the prior year; in terms of caring for patients, it was high when influenza shots were received in the previous year and they had easy access to hand sanitizers. The relationship between knowledge, attitude, and infection preventive behavior regarding MERS was such that high knowledge and positive attitude led to a higher degree of execution of infection preventive behavior. Therefore, during periods of high prevalence of newly infectious diseases such as MERS, it is important for the long-term care hospitals to conduct infection management education including the characteristics of the MERS disease, its transmission, and its prevention to enhance knowledge regarding MERS and induce positive change in attitude to improve the level of infection preventive behaviors.

The Caregiver's Knowledge and Practice about Preventive Behavior for Urinary Tract Infection in Long-term Care Facilities (노인요양시설 요양보호사의 요로감염 예방행위에 대한 지식과 실천)

  • The purpose of this study was to survey the knowledge and practice about preventive behavior for urinary tract infection in caregivers, and ultimately to provide the basic information in terms of urinary tract infection prevention. Participants in this study were caregivers who working at the 7 long-term care facilities in J-city of South Korea. Total 198 were participated in this study. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and scheffe test were performed using SPSS Windows for 21.0 program. The correct answer rate for the knowledge about preventive behavior of urinary tract infection was 79%. The practice of urinary tract infection preventive behavior were significantly differed by the number of nurses, the number of elderly, working time and the experience, perceived importancy, necessity with education for urinary tract infection. The preventive behavior for urinary tract infection in caregivers should be supervised by health care providers. Moreover, it should be needed to educate and apply the basic education program to improve the caregivers' knowledge and practice for preventive behavior in urinary tract infection by healthcare providers. Continuous infection monitor and education by healthcare providers can be contributed the quality of elderly caring services and development of monitoring system for urinary tract infection in long-term care facilities.
