Abstract This paper describes the design and implementation of software framework which supports the processing of real-time stream data like audio and video in distributed object-oriented computing environment. DAViS(Distributed Object Framework supporting Audio/Video Streaming), proposed in this paper, abstracts software components concerning the processing of audio/video data as distributed objects and separates the transmission path of data between them from that of control information. Based on DAViS, distributed applications can be written in the same abstract level as is provided by the existing distributed environment in handling audio/video data. DAViS has a flexible internal structure enough to easily incorporate new types of audio/video data and to rapidly accommodate the progress of underlying network and computer system technology with very little modifications.

  • Recently, because of irregular power demand, we have suffered from an electric power shortage. The necessity of the adoption of smart grid which makes effective supply of power by using the two-way communication across the grid between the customers and electric energy providers is growing more and more. If smart grid set up in our country, the third-parties which provide services to customer using the information acquired from smart grid, might be revved up. In this paper, we suggest a methodology how classify the types of family by analysing an power consumption pattern using data mining technique. To make a classifier for categorizing the household types, we need power consumption data and their family type. However, it is hard to get both of them. Therefore we develop the simulator that generates power consumption patterns of the household and classify the types of family. Also, we present a potential for application services such as customized services for a specific family or goods marketing.

  • As knowledge workers have increased and information interchanges become more diverse, only the resources of internal enterprise is not longer useful, and the practical use of external information through information public sharing network is even more crucial. But, few studies that use both internal and external information sharing systems together have been conducted. In this research, we carried on the depth interview to analyze the main factors that intend to utilize outside information as well as to share inside information voluntarily. In conclusion, sharing internal information is directly involved with the performance of their job exchanging simple data, past documents, and technical materials. On the other hand, using the external information belonged to several other organizations is mostly caused by the voluntary participants' satisfaction sharing their individual experience through the network systems. Based on the study, we propose the idea that can activate both internal and external information sharing network through the system with user feedback function regarding the customized information, and with the space expansion where people can freely raise their private opinion. We also introduce the plan of the construction of communication systems with various experts, and the development of compatible devices with diverse interfaces.

  • Every conceptual temporal rat relationship can be described using one of seven relations (before, meets, overlaps, during, starts, finishes, and equals ). The conceptual representation provides an efficient means for our multimedia authoring system to automatically fill in the necessary timing details. We developed a multimedia Presentation authoring system that supports a mechanism for conceptually representing the temporal relations of different media. Among the many editors that make up our system, the temporal relation editor provides users with an intuitive mechanism for representing the conceptual flow of a presentation by simple and direct graphical manipulations. Our system is based on the SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language). The conceptual temporal relation editor and other editors of our system exchange their information in real-time and automatically generate SMIL codes through the SMIL Object Manager. Our system uses TRN(Temporal Relation Network) as its internal multimedia presentation representation. The TRN corresponds exactly to the structure seen in the graphical representation of the presentation. A parallel relationship found in a TRN can be collapsed into a single synchronization block. This facilitates the determination of the playing time of each component and can be the basic unit for reusability of already prepared blocks of presentation code.

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, non-face-to-face treatment was temporarily permitted. A lot of consensus has been formed on the need to continuous non-face-to-face treatment. However, the current 「Medical Service Act」 only permits telemedicine between doctors and medical personnel. On the other hand, as a result of legal interpretation, there is an opinion that non-face-to-face treatment is allowed. But considering the overall legal system, non-face-to-face treatment is not allowed. Nevertheless, we have to consider the reality such as the development of science and technology and the outbreak of infectious diseases. Therefore, it is not advisable to allow face-to-face treatment only. Ultimately, it is necessary to find ways to ensure that non-foce-to-face treatment can be performed in a safe and effective manner. And it should be institutionalized. This is strategically necessary and important. Therefore, we must look over ahead legal issues to be discussed. First of all, the scope, the target disease and the subject of implement have to be clear. Also, structurally, the standards of facilities and equipment must be prepared for non-face-to-face treatment to be implemented. Functionally, communication and information exchange between doctors and patients should be well conducted. In addition, the information protection management system that occurs in the process of non-face-to-face treatment should be materialized. Lastly, the issue of responsibility and cost of non-face-to-face treatment should be decided in detail. When these problems materialize, it can be expected that a safe non-face-to-face treatment environment will be established.

  • In this paper, a new handover management scheme has been proposed to reduce handover latency and to support fast handover without packet losses, so that it may be applicable to the wireless mobile Internet system such as IPv6-based WiBro system. To minimize the handover latency in processing of movement detection, we propose the handover management scheme which simplifies the handover message exchanging procedure between mobile subscriber station (MSS) and network by integrating layer 2 and layer 3 handovers efficiently based on the layer2 information. To reduce the processing delay from new care-of-address (NCoA) configuration during handover, we propose that NCoA is created, distributed and managed by new access control router (NACR). In addition, in order to minimize the packet transmission delay and eliminate the packet losses, the proposed scheme employs a crossover router (CR) which is upper network located over PACR and NACR and employs the packet buffering for MSS. The simulation study shows that the proposed scheme achieves loss-free packet delivery and low latency in the environment of narrow overlapped cell area or high velocity of the MSS, comparing the performance with the conventional schemes.

  • An interlocking equipment of railway signalling systems should have very high functional safety and reliability properties because of its vital railway protection functionality. In order to achieve the required safety and reliability level, an engineer, in general, designs and implements the interlocking equipment to operate under RTOS(Realtime Operating System) environment, and the control hardware architecture redundant to cope with the random failures of system or subsystem. In such an architecture, it's very difficult to implement the interlocking equipment to communicate with various interface systems including the signal operator's terminal. In this paper, we propose a dual ethernet network topology and dual packet seamless transfer protocol algorithm for railway signaling system such as the interlocking equipment. We verify in this paper that the proposed DPST protocol algorithm has the evidence of its robust properties against the random hardware faults and communication errors. The proposed communication structure and algorithm is implemented in the electronic interlocking equipment for the private railway system of Hyundai Steel Company and its performance and properties are validated on the guideline of European Railway Standard EN50159.

  • Grid is a new Information Technology (IT) concept of "super Internet" for high-performance computing: worldwide collections of high-end resources such as supercomputers, storage, advanced instruments and immerse environments. The Grid is expected to bring together geographically and organizationally dispersed computational resources, such as CPUs, storage systems, communication systems, real-time data sources and instruments, and human collaborators. The term "the Grid" was coined in the mid1990s to denote a proposed distributed computing infrastructure for advanced science and engineering. The term computational Grids refers to infrastructures aimed at allowing users to access and/or aggregate potentially large numbers of powerful and sophisticated resources. More formally, Grids are defined as infrastructure allowing flexible, secure, and coordinated resource sharing among dynamic collections of individuals, institutions and resources referred to as virtual Organizations. GRID is an emerging IT as a kind of next generation Internet technology which will fit very well with agrometeorological services in the future. I believe that it would contribute to the resource sharing in agrometeorology by providing super computing power, virtual storage, and efficient data exchanges, especially for developing countries that are suffering from the lack of resources for their agmet services at national level. Thus, the establishment of CAgM-GRID based on existing RADMINSII is proposed as a part of FWIS of WMO.part of FWIS of WMO.

  • The Purpose of this study is to investigate the problems arising during the investment decision making on maintaining and improving Manufaturing information systems. The detailed problem considered in this study is to determine the priorities of various investment alternatives on improving Manufacturing systems. For this purpose, this study suggests a systematic procedure in which the analytic hierachy process is used to fix the important weights of alternatives, together with a normalization step, and then an integer programming model to select the optimal set of alternatives that maximize the total priority while satisfying the allowable budget and the time limitation.
