A Study on Interior Design Improvement of the Accommodation Area in RO-PAX Ships (로팍스여객선 거주구 실내디자인 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate user satisfaction by identifying the problems and suggesting Improvement plans of interior design in the accommodation area of Ro-Pax ships. First, the characteristics of Ro-P ax ships' accommodation area through previous studies and references, and then a field survey was conducted on seven kinds of Ro-Pax ships. Based on the field study, a questionnaire survey was administered targeting 38 experts involved in passenger ships who indicated that public facilities were the most unsatisfactory of interior design in accommodation areas. As a result of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, the satisfaction of color showed the highest influence on user satisfaction in accommodation areas, and required the standard of the interior design in accommodation areas. The suggested results of research were the types and layout of public facilities, improvement of color design, provision of interior design standard for accommodation areas, and improvement plans for interior design of Ro-Pax ships.

  • This study analyzed the current state of interior design as a major at vocational high schools, colleges, and universities to improve their curricula. The questionnaires of students, teachers, and interior designers were collected and frequency distribution and mean were used to analyze the data. Result showed that the alloted times with major fields were high, but those with classes related to interior design were comparatively low at vocational school. Vocational schools did not seem to supply the systemic and qualified major equation for the students who wanted to engage in interior design fields. Therefore curricula reflecting the demand of designers working for interior design companies and students should be made. Additionally practical education contents based on interior design field and achievement of certification should be developed to vitalize the vocational school.

  • The purpose of this study was to define element of specialization for interior design education according to investigate samples and analyze situations. The study was composed three schemes as follows, materiality classification of specialization, condition of specialization and survey and analysis of specialization. Materiality specialization classify 4 types which are localization, focus on design process, design and project participation and resource. The specialization conditions, according to classify, were to make cooperation center for practical fields and to find new fields of Interior design education and develope advanced skills.

  • The design characteristics of interior environment have reflected the changes in our society. Social issues and the products of ultra-technological advancement will be reflected in housing as well. The purpose of this research is to analyze factors and describes trends which might influence interior environment in future apartment housing, and thereby, to develop an alternative future model for 'ㅆ' apparentement located in Sangdo-Dong based on the type of the size criteria.

  • Nowadays, '1+N' is the operation model of compound bookstores. This study firstly investigated the general information and needs of customers and analyzed 4 basic behaviors of customers in 10 functional space of bookstore. Secondly, a preliminary analysis framework of interior design of compound bookstore was established, by applying 3 research tools of service design to 3 design elements of interior design. Thirdly, the case was analyzed in the preliminary analysis framework to find out the detailed process of the interaction between the customer and the bookstore, the touchpoint and the interior design project, to find out the blind spots in design, and put forward the solutions. Finally, after being refined, a compound bookstore interior design model based on the concept of service design was established. This model can be used to test the design content and service quality of the interior functional area of the compound bookstore, and to find out the design blank points.

  • The number of Korean university students was 4,273,000 and it took them 11 months to get a job after graduation in 2010, according to figures from the National Statistical Office. The purpose of this study is to examine the major awareness and the career preparation of university students majoring in interior design and to provide basic data about job expertise that students understand, the existing state of the career preparation and discrimination. This study collected data from students majoring in interior design at Daegu Gyeongbuk state of University. First, this study classifies the major awareness of students majoring in interior design. Second, this Study describes and analyzes the characteristics of the major awareness of students majoring in interior design by types. Third, this study investigates and analyzes the differences between the career preparations of university students majoring in interior design.

An Analysis on the Curriculum of Interior Design Education by the Reform of the Educational System (전문대학의 학제변화에 따른 실내디자인 교육과정 분석)

  • In interior design and architecture area, educational system has changed since 2001 from two-year program to three-year. At present related courses are established in about 68 colleges. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the advantages of the three-year over the two-year design program, analyzing the changes in curriculum. In the study, curricula from the selected 16 colleges were collected and analyzed using the following research method. The courses were classified into 10 sectors - based on previous studies. The results are as follows. In the three-year program, the available number of courses generally increased. Of the ten sectors, there was marked growth in the 'design' and 'technique or technology' sectors after the program change. In addition, the 'primary', 'theory' and 'digital design' sectors were reinforced to represent the latest changes in the design process and presentation method.
