Increase of Visual sensitivity by Zinc, Taurine, and Hypothermic-effect in Bullfrog's Eye (황소개구리 안구에서의 아연, 타우린, 저온효과에 의한 시각 감수성 증진)

  • It has been reported high concentrations of zinc and taurine in ocular tissue, especially the retina-choroid, and the presence of physiological levels of zinc and taurine in these tissues seem essential for their normal function. In addition, several studies have reported temperature as another effector to the visual sensitivity. But, in spite of many studies, there are still remained many questions about their function and correlation in visual adaptation system. The purpose of present study was to clarify these points using electroretinogram(ERG) recording and absorption spectra scanning, before and after zinc and taurine treatments and hypothermic-effect in bullfrog(Rana catesbeiana) which is one of the poikilothermal animal. The optimal zinc concentration used in this study was determined $10^{-4}M$ while the optimal taurine concentration was 10-5 M, and temperature change for hypothermic-effect went through '$25^{\circ}C {\rightarrow}0^{\circ}C{\rightarrow}25^{\circ}C$'. In ERG recording, it is obtained that dark-adapted threshold became elevated and b-wave amplitudes was increased with zinc and taurine treatment and hypothermic-effect. In absorption spectra scanning, there is distinct absorbance increment over the whole spectral range(400~750 nm) after zinc and taurine treatment and hypothermic-effect. Furthermore there are some synergism effects between zinc and taurine as well as between zinc and hypothermic-effect as a result of co-treatment, respectively.

Art Class for Preventing From Cyberbullying By Using Pictogram (픽토그램을 활용한 사이버불링 예방 미술 수업)

  • Cyberbullying, one of the acts of cyber violence, is becoming a problem as digital devices become popular. Therefore, this study intends to provide pictograms that can communicate visually in order to raise awareness of cyberbullying prevention. 'Cyberbullying prevention pictogram' was conducted in total 6 times for 5 middle and high school boys. After analyzing the works, the results of this study are as follows. First, we investigated the change of cyberbullying recognition, empathy sensitivity, message visualization and social participation. First, the learner relaxed the burden of the art expression by using app, and the interest of the art was improved. Second, the learner recognized the seriousness of cyberbullying's violence and recognized the importance of preventing cyberbullying. Third, the learner improved sympathy sensitivity that sympathizes the suffering of cyberbullying victims. Fourth, cyberbullying prevention pictograms improved the ability to read, utilize and interpret visual images through sharing works. Fifth, the work was posted on an Instagram to give concrete action on social problems. In conclusion, we proved the effectiveness of cyberbullying prevention art class using pictograms.

A Study on the Childcare Teachers' Attitudes Toward Gender Sensitivity Education (보육교직원의 젠더감수성 교육에 대한 태도 연구)

  • The purpose of the present study is to qualitatively explore childcare teachers' attitudes toward gender sensitivity education for early childhood. The study recruited 227 teachers and directors working in childcare centers around the Seoul metropolitan areas. The study utilised the interpretive science paradigm and visual methods for data collection, and thematic analysis examined the attitudes of 227 participants. Gender sensitivity education include gender flexibility and sexual orientation. Most participants showed positive attitudes toward the gender flexibility education. They regarded the gender flexibility as a topic socially accepted, suitable for early childhood development, and easy to implement. They also believed that the gender flexibility education would encourage the individuality of children. On the other hand, 53.3% of participants showed negative attitudes toward tolerance education regarding sexual orientation. Opponents expressed that an issue of sexual orientation did not reach a social consensus. They also worried that the topic is not developmentally appropriate for early childhood, and difficult to teach young children because of insufficient educational materials. At the same time, 40.5% of participants expected Korean society would embrace diverse sexual orientations in the future, and early childhood education would help young children adapted to changing contexts. This study discussed theoretical concepts of gender sensitivity, listened to childcare teachers' voices about education of gender flexibility and sexual orientation, and suggested more appropriate gender sensitivity education for early childhood.

An fMRI Study of Relationship between Scientific Creativity and Emotional Susceptibility (과학적 창의력과 정서적 감수성의 관계에 대한 뇌영상 연구)

  • We investigated the brain activity in perceiving the emotional stimuli between a science invention group(n=13) and a general group(n=13). The science invention group, which mostly consisted of recipients of creativity prizes, scored 96% on creative personality tests(WKOPAY, SAM), whereas the general group performed at an average level on these tests. Analyzing the brain activity in perceiving the emotional stimuli(IAPS pictures), the science invention group than the general group showed higher activity in certain areas, such as MTG, STG, and so on. When correlation analysis was performed on the creative personality score and brain activity, MTG, STG, and so on areas showed significant correlations. There were more correlation areas in valence than in arousal. These results show that scientific creativity is related to emotional susceptibility. Thus, we insist that emotion be considered in the assessment and education programs for the gifted in science.

  • Until today, the uses of digital display system mostly included demonstration, observation, and exhibition of simple images. The strengths were that the images that changes in line with the music played could be reinterpreted as a different work. Also, it could stimulate the sensibility of the users. However, the range of the uses of the system is very limited and users could easily lose their interest. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a system that could continuously induce and motivate user interaction. Therefore, the RSS based digital folding screen system proposed by this paper has an objective of being used as an interactive media system which overcome the limitations of former eight-sided folding screen used for simple observation purposes. It also applied the main function of RSS in which the user could collect and read newly registered messages without visiting the blogs or corresponding websites. Therefore, it is capable of sending the information needed by the user. Generally, we can observe the contents for mere observation purposes and when necessary, it could also be utilized for advertisement or exhibition purposes. It could also be used as a information transfer system in public facilities.

  • Today's Digital Environment made Typography to enter into a new phase. The Type which is a principal component of Typography is no exception to this aspect. However since the existing two-dimensional space has figurative potential, Visual Communication designers are still striving to explore both X axis and Y axis. In this context, Z axis which signifies 'Depth' is often recognized as an unfamiliar mathematical concept unrelated to Design Sensibility. If Z axis is used, the figurative aspect can be acquired, which was hard to be realized in the flat space, because the additional space of depth allows the expansion of omni-directional expression of target. Most notable is the fact that Z axis provided by Digital Environment has actually long existed and is inseparable from Type. This study, therefore, focuses on the three-dimensional expression of Type in the Visual Communication Design area by taking into account the above characteristics.

  • 최근 차세대 시퀀싱 기술의 급속한 발전에 따라 서열 정보의 해독이 비교적 쉬워지면서 개인별 맞춤의학의 실현에 대한 기대와 관심이 높아지고 있다. 각 개인의 서열 정보 사이에는 SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism), Indel, CNV (copy number variation) 등의 다양한 유전적 구조 변이가 존재하며, 이러한 서열 정보의 부분적 차이는 각 개인의 유전적 특성 및 질병 감수성 등과 밀접한 관련을 갖는다. 본 연구에서는 차세대 시퀀싱 결과로 산출되는 수많은 짧은 DNA 서열 조각인 리드 데이터를 이용한 SNP 추출 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘에서는 레퍼런스 시퀀스의 각 위치에 대한 리드 시퀀스의 매핑 정보를 기반으로 SNP 후보 영역을 추출하며, 품질 정보 등을 활용하여 에러 발생률을 최소화한다. 또한 대규모 시퀀싱 데이터와 SNP 구조 변이 데이터의 효율적인 저장/검색을 지원하는 시각적 분석 도구를 구현하여 제안된 방식의 유용성을 검증한다.

A Study on Early Childhood Teachers' Perceptions of ESD-Oriented Ecological Art Activities (지속가능발전교육(ESD) 지향 생태미술활동에 관한 유아교사의 인식연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the perception of early childhood teachers on ecological art activities oriented to education for sustainable development. The research results are as follows. First, Early childhood teachers recognized the visual art of natural media, the pursuit of community values, and the participation and communication of social members as educational significance of ecological art activities. And difficulties in practicing ecological art were recognized as lack of educational environment, lack of ecological art teaching materials and specific examples, and teachers' lack of understanding of ecological art. Also, they recognized that ecological art activities foster core competencies in art experience area, such as nature-friendly communication skills, eco-friendly sensibility, and creative convergence skills. Second, regarding ecological art activities and sustainable development education, early childhood teachers considered the difficulties in practice as lack of awareness about sustainable development, lack of play meia and materials, lack of educational policies and support, and insufficient teacher training programs. Also, regarding the SDGs that can be practiced in ecological art activities, teachers were found to be highly aware of 'grow affordable and clean energy', 'improve clean water and sanitation', 'provide quality education' in the order. In the contents of education for sustainable development that can be practiced in ecological art activities, teachers are given the order of 'climate change response', 'clean energy', 'water and sanitation', 'quality education', 'health and well-being' and 'marine ecosystem'. was highly recognized. If an ecological art activity program is developed, the rate of responding that it will be used is high, so it is considered that the development of an ESD-oriented ecological art activity program is urgent.

Enhancing Visual Perception Using Color Processing Of Mobile Display (색상처리를 통한 감성 모바일 디스플레이)

  • Mobile display panel is small so that users are often difficult to perceive images clearly. About image we perceive much through colors and therefore we propose color fitting approach for clear perception even on the small and low quality LCD panels. Various color modifications have been studied and used in commercial software packages. For mobile usage, our approach instantly enhances color images by modifying colors in a way to contrast differences of them. The method includes tone enhancements (which contrast dark and bright sides) and color enhancements (which reduce saturation for pure colorants). Based on color theory, our method also modifies color values towards specified complementary and preference colors. We term this color fitting. This approach enables displaying photos, multimedia messages, videos and digital media broadcasting (DMB) for better perception in real-time on mobile devices.   • Typography is the field be needed the most emotional and potential originality in the visual designers works. The design process introduced by aesthetic results is depended on a designers sensibility and originality. Accordingly this study includes more detail suggestions for mental switchover and developing whole area of sense and its education which make more sincere and easy communication of sentences in typographic and messages, removing fixed ideas, that are, prejudice and preconception, is one of big problems in making originality through the educational programs for experimental typography approaching with a new vision. Today, the change of typographic environment carried the substance and effectiveness of traditional typography be suspected and new ways are growing fast to escape from these traditional value. This study introduces some education programs such as Typortrait, Typeface, Typographic Essay, Kinetic Typography to realize the experimental typography to meet a new stream and social needs under the situation of exoplosive change and harmony fairly with proposition of coexisting of inspiration and technology, and finally expected to develop and promote typography experiment newly and to make educational section understand and confirm them.
