  • If the future can be predicted from network traffic data, which is a time series, it can achieve effects such as efficient resource allocation, prevention of malicious attacks, and energy saving. Many models based on statistical and deep learning techniques have been proposed, and most of these studies have focused on improving model structures and learning algorithms. Another approach to improving the prediction performance of the model is to obtain a good-quality data. With the aim of obtaining a good-quality data, this paper applies a dense sampling technique that augments time series data to the application of network traffic prediction and analyzes the performance improvement. As a dataset, UNSW-NB15, which is widely used for network traffic analysis, is used. Performance is analyzed using RMSE, MAE, and MAPE. To increase the objectivity of performance measurement, experiment is performed independently 10 times and the performance of existing sparse sampling and dense sampling is compared as a box plot. As a result of comparing the performance by changing the window size and the horizon factor, dense sampling consistently showed a better performance.

  • A simulation methodology and corresponding program based on it is to be discussed for analyzing the effects of the networking operation of existing DHC system in connection with CHP system on-site. The practical simulation for arbitrary areas with various building compositions is carried out for the analysis of operational features in both systems, and the various aspects of thermal energy grids with connecting operation are highlighted through the detailed assessment of predicted results. The intrinsic operational features of CHP prime movers, gas engine, gas turbine etc., are effectively implemented by realizing the performance data, i.e. actual operation efficiency in the full and part loads range. For the sake of simplicity, a simple mathematical correlation model is proposed for simulating various aspects of change effectively on the existing DHC system side due to the connecting operation, instead of performing cycle simulations separately. The empirical correlations are developed using the hourly based annual operation data for a branch of the Korean District Heating Corporation (KDHC) and are implicit in relation between main operation parameters such as fuel consumption by use, heat and power production. In the simulation, a variety of system configurations are able to be considered according to any combination of the probable CHP prime-movers, absorption or turbo type cooling chillers of every kind and capacity. From the analysis of the thermal network operation simulations, it is found that the newly proposed methodology of mathematical correlation for modelling of the existing DHC system functions effectively in reflecting the operational variations due to thermal energy grids with connecting operation. The effects of intrinsic features of CHP prime-movers, e.g. the different ratio of heat and power production, various combinations of different types of chillers (i.e. absorption and turbo types) on the overall system operation are discussed in detail with the consideration of operation schemes and corresponding simulation algorithms.

  • To respond to the threat of global warming, countries around the world are promoting the spread of renewable energy and reduction of carbon emissions. In accordance with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal to combat climate change and its impacts, global automakers are pushing for a full transition to electric vehicles within the next 10 years. Electric vehicles can be a useful means for reducing carbon emissions, but in order to reduce carbon generated in the stage of producing electricity for charging, a power generation system using eco-friendly renewable energy is required. In this study, we propose a smart electric mobility operating system integrated with off-grid solar power plants established in Tanzania, Africa. By applying smart monitoring and communication functions based on Arduino-based computing devices, information such as remaining battery capacity, battery status, location, speed, altitude, and road conditions of an electric vehicle or electric motorcycle is monitored. In addition, we present a scenario that communicates with the surrounding independent solar power plant infrastructure to predict the drivable distance and optimize the charging schedule and route to the destination. The feasibility of the proposed system was verified through test runs of electric motorcycles. In considering local environmental characteristics in Tanzania for the operation of the electric mobility system, factors such as eco-friendliness, economic feasibility, ease of operation, and compatibility should be weighed. The smart electric mobility operating system proposed in this study can be an important basis for implementing the SDGs' climate change response.

  • In this paper we are trying to explain the effect of temperature on polymer membrane exchange water electrolysis (PEMWE) and polymer membrane exchange fuel cell (PEMFC) simultaneously. A comprehensive studying approach is proposed and applied to a 50Watt PEM fuel cell system in the laboratory. The monitoring process is carried out through wireless LoRa node and gateway network concept. In this experiment, temperature sensor measure the temperature level of electrolyzer, fuel cell stack and $H_2$ storage tank and transmitted the measured value of data to the management control unit (MCU) through the individual node and gateway of each PEMWE and PEMFC. In MCU we can monitor the temperature and its effect on the performance of the fuel cell system and control it to keep the lower heating value to increase the efficiency of the fuel cell system. And we also proposed a mathematical model and operation algorithm for PEMWE and PEMFC. In this model, PEMWE gives higher efficiency at lower heating level where as PEMFC gives higher efficiency at higher heating value. In order to increase the performance of the fuel cell system, we are going to monitor, communicate and control the temperature and pressure of PEMWE and PEMFC by installing these systems in a building of university which is located in the southern part of Korea.

  • As the number of skyscrapers in micro water grid units such as green building and smart building is increasing in the world, the green building certification system is being implemented to solve problems such as increased demand for water resources and energy. However, researches on the use of sustainable water resources like water reuse and water conservation through linkage and continuous use of water resources, while the power and energy sectors are actively conducting R&D projects in the green building certification system on the micro water grid level. Therefore, this paper analyzes the characteristics and limitations of the water resources sector for the continuous utilization of multiple water sources in the green building certification system, due to the inadequate consideration of sustainability. Then investigates whether various water resources such as constants, nature, and alternative water resources are continuously used in and out of the green building or smart building and complex in the micro water grid unit to suggest evaluation methods and performance evaluation standards.

  • Due to spatial problems and system size, conventional measurement methods used to acquire the information needed for existing electrical energy and management have been limited to new buildings or areas where replacement is possible. This electric load management method is problematic when applying it to energy and safety management of vulnerable areas or existing homes or offices. The problem with installing a measurement module in every branch is that the system is too large. Even if the measurement module is installed, the type of load is not recognized, and efficient management is not performed. In particular, it is very difficult to apply it to traditional markets and backward facilities in Korea. In this paper, we apply NIALM technology and arc detection technology to solve these problems and verify the feasibility of NIALM for normal arc generation. Also, based on the verification results, we propose a new smart home safety management system that can effectively manage electrical safety and that can be applied to conventional market and existing home safety management systems. The proposed system conducts a comparative performance test with an existing safety management system. In addition, it achieves 95% or more load recognition for four loads, which is impossible in 40% of the existing systems, and the arc detection function was confirmed.

  • An increased number of cases have occurred in applying ICT technology in the resource development field due to factors such as safety, eco-friendliness, and low cost since the 2000s. In Korea, the 2nd mining master plan specified the significance of converging the full cycle of mining and ICT, while the 3rd mining master plan highlighted ICT and smart mining such as supporting the supply of an ICT mining device and introducing demonstrational smart mining. This study introduces the application of an ICT device and safety system operation in the Jangseong underground mine of Korea Cement Co., Ltd. Currently, Jangseong mine combines two different kinds of 3D equipment including the handheld 3D scanner and multi-station that provides both the measurement and 3D scanning to perform a 3D measurement of the mine. Taken from the 3D measurement of the mine, it is now possible to identify any hazardous areas and abnormalities in different directions and analyze the safety of the crown pillar between two stopes in different level. Besides, the real-time location tracking and communications system have established highly efficient rescue and evacuation plans to effectively deal with any accidents in the mine.

  • In Korea, where rice is the staple food, there are many cases in which the nutritional composition of food is different at the same weight, even though the same ingredients are used and the food or food name is the same. The cause is closely related to the moisture content of the food according to the cooking method and cooking process. In order to design a diet tailored to individual health and supply accurate calories and nutrients, a method of expressing food data that is not affected by the cooking process or cooking method is required. Usually, the same ingredients or foods show a lot of deviation from the nutritional components presented in the standard food database due to the difference in moisture content. For this reason, there are problems that increase the complexity of the food ingredient database and the difficulty in using it. As a method to improve these problems, we would like to propose a food data expression method based on dry weight. As an example of this, the characteristics of rice as a food material and changes in major nutritional components according to the change in moisture of various rice-processed foods made from rice were considered. In addition, as an example of how to normalize food data through this, the dry weight-based nutrition label of rice was presented.

  • The energy savings and $CO_2$ emission reductions obtainable from the situation that the Smart Grid system (SGs) is assumed to be applied in Korea up to 2030 is quantitatively analyzed with many reported data. For calculation, SGs is divided into five sectors such as Smart Transmission and Distribution (ST&D), Smart Consumer (SC), Smart Electricity Service (SES), Smart Renewable Energy (SRE) and Smart Transportation (ST). Total annual energy savings in 2030 is estimated to be approximately 103,121 GWh and this is 13.1% of total electricity consumption outlook. Based on this value, total amount of reducible $CO_2$ emissions is calculated to 55.38 million $tCO_2$, which is 17.6% of total nation's GHG reduction target. Although the contribution of energy saving due to SGs to total electricity consumption increases as years go by, that of $CO_2$ emission reduction gradually decreases. This might be because that coal fired based power generation is planned to be sharply increased and the rate of $CO_2$ emission reduction scheduled by nation is very fast. The contributable portion of five each sector to total $CO_2$ emission reductions in 2030 is estimated to be 44.37% for SC, 29.16% for SRE, 20.12% for SES, 5.11% for ST&D, and 1.24% for ST.

  • ZITO/Ag/ZITO multilayer transparent electrodes at room temperature on glass substrates were prepared using RF/DC magnetron sputtering. Transparent conductive films with a sheet resistance of 9.4 Ω/㎡ and a transmittance of 83.2% at 550 nm were obtained for the multilayer structure comprising ZITO/Ag/ZITO (100/8/42 nm). The sheet resistance and transmittance of ZITO/Ag/ZITO multilayer films meant that they would be highly applicable for use in polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC)-based smart windows due to the ability to effectively block infrared rays (heat rays) and thereby act as an energy-saving smart glass. Effects of the thickness of the PDLC layer and the intensity of ultraviolet light (UV) on electro-optical properties, photopolymerization kinetics, and morphologies of difunctional urethane acrylate-based PDLC systems were investigated using new transparent conducting electrodes. A PDLC cell photo-cured using UV at an intensity of 2.0 mW/c㎡ with a 15 ㎛-thick PDLC layer showed outstanding off-state opacity, good on-state transmittance, and favorable driving voltage. Also, the PDLC-based smart window optimized in this study formed liquid crystal droplets with a favorable microstructure, having an average size range of 2~5 ㎛ for scattering light efficiently, which could contribute to its superior final performance.
