  • The purpose of this study is to analyze leisure factors affect happiness of the elderly by sex in Korea and then to discuss implications for the findings. Data of National Leisure Activity Survey conducted by Korea Culture & Tourism Institute in 2016 were used for this study. From this dataset, 891 male elderly and 970 female elderly aged above 65 were selected for this study. Ordered logistic regression model was used by considering the nature of the dependent variable. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, choice proportions of leisure activities classified by four type are different by sex of the elderly. Second, among control variables, household income, residential area, joining a club have different significant effect on happiness of the elderly by sex but volunteering have same significant effect on happiness of the elderly by sex. Third, any type of leisure activity have no significant effect on happiness of both the male elderly and the female elderly. Fourth, cost of leisure has significant positive effect on happiness of both the male elderly and the female elderly but has different significance by sex. Fifth, focus on leisure rather than work has very significant positive effect on happiness of both the male elderly and the female elderly. Sixth, leisure life satisfaction has very significant positive effect on happiness of both the male elderly and the female elderly.

  • A 3-dimensional model of curved steel box girder bridges without diaphragm was presented. This model yielded results that were consistent with those of the parameter analysis using the BEF and Ritz methods. Se veralmodels with diaphragms were analyzed to estimate the appropriate diaphragm spacing. In case of 50m span, models A-10, A-20, A-30, B-10, B-20, and B-30 were found to have 5(8.3m), 7(6.25m), 8(5.5m), 4(10m), 6(7.1m), and 7(6.25m) diaphragms, respectively. In addition, a formula that presents the ratio of distortional stress to bending stresswas created from the results of the 3-dimensional FEM model analysis.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the housing affordability of elderly household according to household types and housing tenure and to contribute to desirable elderly housing policies. The data from the 2010 Korea Housing Survey was used for the analysis of this study and the final sample included 6,780 elderly households. The results of this study are summarized as follows; It was found that all kinds of elderly household for housing affordability were affected by income, residence period, housing location and size of house. And housing location was a highly influential factor. Besides, female elderly house-owners and male elderly renters living alone were likely to have higher housing cost burden. And if elderly renters households suffer more financial burden, they had have higher housing cost burden. It is implies that desirable elderly housing polices by government need to consider elderly househod's diverse characteristics in aged society.

  • OPKFDD (Ordered Pseudo-Kronecker Functional Decision Diagram) is one of ordered-DDs (Decision Diagrams) in which each node can take one of three decomposition types : Shannon, positive Davio and negative Davio decompositions. Whereas OBDD (Ordered Binary Decision Diagram) uses only the Shannon decomposition in each node, OPKFDD uses the three decompositions and generates representations of functions with smaller number of nodes than other DDs. However, this leads to the extreme difficulty of getting an optimal solution for the minimization of OPKFDD. Since an appropriate decomposition type has to be chosen for each node, the size of the representation is decided by the selection of the decomposition type. We propose a heuristic method to generate OPKFDD efficiently from the OBDD of the given function and the algorithm of the decision of decomposition type for a given variable ordering. Experimental results demonstrate the performance of the algorithm.

  • The complicate software failure system is defined to the superposition of the points of failure from several component point process. Because the likelihood function is difficulty in computing, we consider Gibbs sampler using iteration sampling based method. For each observed failure epoch, we applied to latent variables that indicates with component of the superposition mode. For model selection, we explored the posterior Bayesian criterion and the sum of relative errors for the comparison simple pattern with superposition model. A numerical example with NHPP simulated data set applies the thinning method proposed by Lewis and Shedler[25] is given, we consider Goel-Okumoto model and Weibull model with GOS, inference of parameter is studied. Using the posterior Bayesian criterion and the sum of relative errors, as we would expect, the superposition model is best on model under diffuse priors.

  • We developed a methodology of rule acquisition from texts such as Web pages which utilizes ontology in identification of rule components. We expect that the proposed methodology can reduce the bottleneck of rule acquisition and contribute to the utilization of rule based systems. As parts of our research, we designed an ontology for rule acquisition named OntoRule and proposed a rule acquisition methodology through OntoXRML which is an acquisition tool using OntoRule. Also, we evaluated our approach by calculating missed recommendations and wrong recommendations of rule components in rule acquisition experiments over three online bookstores.

  • This study empirically analyzes the effect of pedestrians' personal and household characteristics and accessibility to public facilities on a walking safety satisfaction (WSS) level. The aim is to find ways to improve vulnerable pedestrians' WSS level and contribute to the creation of an inclusive urban environment. As a result of the analysis, age and gender variables were important for elderly people, and education was an important factor for disabled people. The WSS level was impacted by the factors of single-person households, income, and residential areas. In the case of accessibility to public facilities, the greater the satisfaction with accessibility to public institutions, urban parks and green areas, and public transport, the greater the WSS for the elderly and the disabled. And, the greater the satisfaction with accessibility to commercial facilities, the greater the WSS was for the elderly's WSS. However, the satisfaction with access to medical facilities was the opposite in the case of the elderly.

  • Recently, increasing use of big data have caused regulation factors of personal information and combination of pseudonymized information to emerge as key policy measures. Therefore, this study empirically analyzed the mediating effect and moderating effect of pseudonymized information combination as the third variable in the relationship between regulation factors of personal information and big data utilization. The analysis showed the following results: First, among personal information regulation factors, definition regulation, consent regulation, supervisory authority regulation, and punishment intensity regulation showed a positive(+) relationship with the big data utilization, while among pseudonymized information combination factors, non-identification of combination, standardization of combined pseudonymized information, and responsibility of combination were also found to be in a positive relationship with the use of big data. Second, among the factors of pseudonymized information combination, non-identification of combination, standardization of combined pseudonymized information, and responsibility of combination showed a positive(+) mediating effect in relation to regulation factors of personal information and big data utilization. Third, in the relationship between personal information regulation factors and big data utilization, the moderating effect hypothesis that each combination institution type of pseudonymized information (free-type, intermediary-type, and designated-type) would play a different role as a moderator was rejected. Based on the results of the empirical research, policy alternatives of 'Good Regulation' were proposed, which would maintain balance between protection of personal information and big data utilization.

  • The aim of this study was to systematically review the latest clinical trials in music medicine and medical music therapy for pediatric patients. Thirteen databases were searched to obtain randomized controlled/crossover design studies published between the year 2000 and 2012 in English language. Out of 1012 articles retrieved in the initial search, fifteen studies were identified based on an exclusion criteria. Overall, selected articles involved children 1 month to 18 years, sample size of 11 to 150, and total participants of 987. Studies were classified and compared as music medicine or music therapy studies through a systematic synthesis assessing general characteristics, methodological quality, measured outcomes, types of interventions and the study results. Seven music medicine and eight music therapy studies measured seven dependent variables using thirty-six different measurement tools with a large heterogeneity in the selection, type, and method of music interventions. Evaluation of the methodological quality revealed that many studies did not provide a full report of the research method, and did not meet some or most methodological standards, such as randomization, allocation concealment, double or partial blinding, and intention to treat analysis. Although overall research results were positive if not significant, poor methodological quality and heterogeneity in design and intervention strategies raise the question of research bias and trustworthiness issues. The systematic review concluded that music may have a valuable clinical effect in addressing the physical and psychosocial needs of hospitalized children, although more rigorous, homogeneous and replicable studies are greatly needed.
