  • Tracking ICT applications on construction business processes is critical to the success of ICT-applied construction projects. Existing IDEF0 is a representative modeling method for visualizing and analyzing business processes. It defines a construction production process into a visual information model, hence, encouraging the project participant to understand the activities, their deliverable, and control flow of the process. However, IDEF0 dose not lend itself to ICT-applied construction processes, because it does not provide a mean to define how, in what order, by which each and every activity that ICT applied implements. This paper presents a new business modeling method that improves the traceability of ICT application (IAMB: ICT Application tracking Model for Business process) for construction management. The IAMB contributes to handle the sophisticated features of construction management processes to which ICT are applied. The method categorizes the process into three types: management, construction, and information exchange. The validity of IAMB was confirmed by analyzing the performance when it is used for tracking each modeling step of lift reservation process which making use of ICT. The test case provides an admissible evidence that the method encourage to define who, what, how, which order, and by which ICT tools the construction process exchanges production information.

  • Recently there are many development and support policies for start-up companies because of successful venture companies related to ICT services. However, as these policies have focused on the support for the initial stage of start-up, many start-up companies have difficulties to continuously grow up. The main reason for these difficulties is that they recognize start-up tasks as independent activities. However, many experts or related articles say that start-up tasks are composed of related processes from the initial stage to the stable stage of start-up firms. In this study, we models the start-up processes based on the survey collected by the start-up companies, and analyze the start-up process of ICT service companies with process mining techniques. Through process mining analysis, we can draw a sequential flow of tasks for start-ups and the characteristics of them. The analysis of start-up businessman, idea derivation, creating business model, business diversification processes are resulted as important processes, but marketing activity and managing investment funds are not. This result means that marketing activity and managing investment funds are activities that need ongoing attention. Moreover, we can find temporal and complementary tasks which could not be captured by independent individual-level activity analysis. Our process analysis results are expected to be used in simulation-based web-intelligent system to support start-up business, and more cumulated start-up business cases will be helpful to give more detailed individual-level personalization service. And our proposed process model and analyzing results can be used to solve many difficulties for start-up companies.

  • The environment of computational grid is composed of the LAN/WAN each of which has different efficiency and heterogeneous network conditions, and where various programs are running. In this environment, the role of the resource selection broker is very important because the work of each node is performed by considering heterogeneous network environment and the computing power of each node according to the characteristics of a program. In this paper, a new resource selection broker is presented that decides the number of work processes to be allocated at each node by considering network state information and the performance of each node according to the characteristics of a program in the environment of computational grid. The proposed resource selection broker has three steps as follows. First, the performance ratio of each node is computed using latency-bandwidth-cpu mixture information reflecting the characteristics of a program, and the number of work processes that will be performed at each node are decided by this ratio. Second, RSL file is automatically made based on the number of work processes decided at the previous step. Finally, each node creates work processes by using that RSL file and performs the work which has been allocated to itself. As experimental results, the proposed method reflecting characteristics of a program, compared with the existing (uniformity) and latency-bandwidth method is improved $278%\sim316%,\;524%\sim595%,\;924%\sim954%$ in the point of work amount, work process number, and node number respectively.

  • This study was conducted on the assumption that for Incheon international airport to become the logistics hub of northeast asia's region, it is necessary to investigate and analyze problems of forwarder's international air cargo transportation process, those factors and so on. The conditions of the process of international air cargo transportation was analysed individually according to the time required, satisfaction and problems of each step of process by dividing those into import and export. Consequently it turned out that the time required for the export process of the international air cargo transportation is longer by about 1 hour than the import process which means the improvement of import section rather than export is more urgent to improve the overall international air cargo transportation process. For the improvement of the process, it is also necessary to construct the international air cargo transportation' information system, secure competition of operating and to improve logistics standardization by considering all factors above.

  • The causal message logging is a low-cost technique of building a distributed system that can tolerate process crash failures. Previous research in causal message logging protocol assumes that the number of processes in a fault-tolerant system is fixed. This assumption makes all processes modify their data structures when a new process is added or an existing process terminates. However, the proposed approach in this paper allows to each process retain identifiers of only the communicating processes instead of all processes. This mechanism enables the fault-tolerant system to operate at many different scales. Using this mechanism, we develop a new algorithm that can be adapted for recovery in existing causal message logging protocols. Our recovery algorithm is 1) a distributed technique which does not require recovery leader, 2) a nonblocking protocol which does not force live processes to block while recovery is in progress, and 3) a novel mechanism which can tolerate failures of an arbitrary number of processes. Earlier causal message logging protocols lack one or more of the above properties.

  • Process mining has generally analyzed the default logs of Information Systems such as SAP ERP, but as the use of automation software called RPA expands, the logs by RPA bots can be utilized. In this study, the actual status of RPA automation in the field was identified by applying RPA bots to the work of three domestic manufacturing companies (cosmetic field) and analyzing them after leaving logs. Using Uipath and Python, we implemented RPA bots and wrote logs. We used Disco, a software dedicated to process mining to analyze the bot logs. As a result of log analysis in two aspects of bot utilization and performance through process mining, improvement requirements were found. In particular, we found that there was a point of improvement in all cases in that the utilization of the bot and errors or exceptions were found in many cases of process. Our approach is very scientific and empirical in that it analyzes the automation status and performance of bots using data rather than existing qualitative methods such as surveys or interviews. Furthermore, our study will be a meaningful basic step for bot behavior optimization, and can be seen as the foundation for ultimately performing process management.

  • Modeller is defined as the office work procedures(business processes), and that is systemically based upon the real-time collaborative operations by a set of actors, which is called group. This paper describes the design of the ICN editor that is operable under the real-time collaborative computing environment. We use the database agent that enables the ICN editor to operate among multiple actors(group) through the event-driven collaboration platform. Consequently, a set of workflow and business processes defined through this editor is not only stored onto database but also transformed into the format of the workflow process definition language(WPDL) that is a standardized worflow description and specification language proposed by the workflow management coalition(WfMC). This method can improve the performance of workflow processing by minimizing the workflow execution cost occurred during workflow definition.
