  • E-business enables SMEs to reduce transaction costs and maintain export competitiveness in rapidly changing overseas markets. It is required to raise the entrepreneurial awareness of e-business of exporting SMEs. This study examines the characteristics of enterprises that play an important role in the introduction and utilization of e-business by domestic export SMEs. It explores the mechanisms that search and exploit these opportunities in an entrepreneurial way, and examines the process leading to export performance. We conducted a survey for empirical analysis and analyzed the data from 316 companies using e-business in Korea. As a result, both the international entrepreneurial orientation and the IT competence tended to be significant for the perception of e-business entrepreneurs and showed a different pattern in terms of size of influence. In addition, cooperation and operation among e-business entrepreneurs' perceptions have a direct impact on the export performance of SMEs.

  • The aim of the present study is to research how the main factors for the export of SMEs affect SME's Export possibility in structural method. 62 SMEs in Busan Region were participated in this study. For the empirical analysis, a multiple regression analysis and a path analysis were used with Spss18 and Amos 5v to figure out the relationship between the main factors and SME's Export possibility(SEP). The main factors as variances are "Manpower Needs(MN)", "Technology Innovation Needs(TIN)", "Education Needs for Export(ENE)" and "Intention of Decision-Maker(IDM)". The result indicated that ENE and TIN with IDM could structurally affect SEP through path analysis and implies that the main factors have to be considered with the intention of decision-maker as CEO for the successful export of SMEs.

  • Exports play an important role in Korea's economy and industry. Korea's share in world trade is also increasing. Governments and trade organizations are making great efforts to promote exports. However, since SMEs lack resources of enterprises, SMEs have a lot of difficulties in increasing exports compared to large enterprises. For this reason, in this study, we analyzed the difference of perception of export difficulties according to characteristics of small and medium export companies. As a result, four factors such as overseas market information, price and cost, competitiveness and regulation of importing country were derived. In addition, we investigated the differences in recognition of export difficulties by the stage of growth of company, period of export, products exported, export department, size of company. There was a significant difference in recognition. Especially, The companies which are the early stages of growth, short export period, finished product, the smaller the size of exports companies are more difficult in export difficulties.

  • The necessity for co-prosperity between large and small businesses has emerged as a top policy priority as economic polarization has been exacerbated since the 2008 global financial crisis. Against this background this paper makes a detailed analysis of differences between SMEs (Small and Medium sized businesses) and large enterprises located in Gyeong-do, in respect of growth. The data set used in the analysis is the 15 year(1996-2010) panel data of IT companies (large enterprises: 80 data and SMEs: 437 data) collected from the KISVALUE database. The estimation results of Pooled OLS indicate that the coefficients representing corporate size are less than 1, which implies that the Gibrat's law, no correlation between the size of a firm and its growth rate, is not supported by the data. In the meantime, the estimated coefficients representing corporate age are negative, which implies that Jovanovic hypothesis, inverse correlation between the age and the growth rate of a firm, is consistent with the data. In short, SMEs, which are generally younger than big enterprises can achieve higher growth rate than the latter ones which are usually believed to be older. In addition, the more export- and innovation-oriented the firm, the higher its growth rates.

  • E-Trade is expected to dominate the global commerce in the 21th century and thus is being introduced as a major policy assignment for every development country. E-Trade has the potential to accelerate existing trends and introduce new ways of conducting traditional trade. Most of companies and countries recognize it as inevitable changes for the increase of their own competitive, and are willing to adopt the e-Trade systems. In this study, it was focused to analyze the factors affecting the adoption of e-Trade in small and medium enterprises using Technology Acceptance Model(TAM).
