Shear Capacity Curve Model for Circular RC Bridge Columns under Seismic Loads (지진하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 원형교각의 전단성능곡선 모델)

  • Reinforced concrete bridge columns with relatively small aspect ratio show flexure-shear behavior, which is flexural behavior at initial and medium displacement stages and shear failure at final stage. Since the columns with flexure-shear failure have lower ductility than those with flexural failure, shear capacity curve models shall be applied as well as flexural capacity curve in order to determine ultimate displacement for seismic design or performance evaluation. In this paper, a modified shear capacity curve model is proposed and compared with the other models such as the CALTRANS model, Aschheim et al.'s model, and Priestley et al.'s model. Four shear capacity curve models are applied to the 4 full scale circular bridge column test results and the accuracy of each model is discussed. It may not be fully adequate to drive a final decision from the application to the limited number of test results, however the proposed model provides the better prediction of failure mode and ultimate displacement than the other models for the selected column test results.

  • In this paper, we suggested user assistant soft computing method for 3D effect optimization. In order to maximize 3D effect of image, intervals among cameras have to be set up properly according to distance between cameras and an object. Two data such as interval and distance was obtained to use in neural network as the data for learning. However, if the data for learning was obtained by only human's subjective views, it could be that the obtained data was not optimal for learning because the data had an accidental ewer To obtain optimal data lot learning, we added candidature data to obtained data through data analysis, and then selected the most proper data between the candidature data and the obtained data for learning in neural network. Usually, 3D effect of image was affected by both distance from an object to cameras and an object size. Therefore, we suggested fuzzy inference model which was able to represent two factors like distance and size. Candidature data was added by fuzzy model. In the simulation result, we verified that the mote the obtained data was affected by human's subjective views, the more effective the suggested system was.

  • This paper proposes a modified GA whose individuals have their own ages. Thus, a chromosome will die only when the age becomes zero, as a result, the population size of this method increases according to the generations. This helps a GA to preserve the good characteristics of a few chromosomes during several generations if the ages are evaluated with fitness values. As a result, the performance of the method is better than that of existing ones. A multi-modal function optimization problem is employed to simulate the performance of this method. To show the effective:~esso f ageing paradigm, three ageing evaluation methods are introduced. A paper whose itlea is similar to that of ours have been published in a conference. We also experimented a method that showed the best performance in the paper. Original simple GA was also experimented and the performance is compared with others. However, the perforniance of the previous method shows worse than that of our methods in some aspects because the previous method didn't take the fitness value into account in the selection process.

Pre-service Elementary Teachers' Exploration of Children's Science Ideas (초등 예비교사의 아동의 과학 개념 조사)

  • In this study, pre-service elementary teachers (n=68) participated in an inquiry of exploring children's science ideas as group work. After conducting interviews with children, the pre-service teachers analyzed their science ideas on specific concept and propose a teaching plan based on their findings. This paper aimed to find the positive learning experiences of the pre-service teachers by looking into their inquiry process. Questionnaire, researcher's journal, classroom videos and final reports were collected and analyzed for this multiple case study. Four representative groups were chosen and interviewed after submitting their final reports for in-depth understanding of their inquiry process. The positive learning experiences found in the process of their inquiry into children's science ideas were as follows: (1) exploring children's ideas have brought the opportunity for enhancing pre-service teachers' science content knowledge. (2) the pre-service teachers developed their ability in creating questions that probe into children's understanding. (3) the pre-service teachers recognized that children have various incomplete and unstable science ideas. (4) the pre-service teachers could suggest teaching strategy based on their findings.

Implant hybrid prosthetic treatment in Down syndrome patient: a case report (다운증후군 환자에서 임플란트 하이브리드 보철 치료 증례)

  • Down syndrome patients generally have poor oral hygiene due to lack of awareness and ability to perform oral care, and there is a high risk of tooth loss. Also, they are characterized by small and irregular teeth and oligodontia, which makes it difficult to do prosthetic treatment. This article reports a case of implant hybrid prosthesis treatment of maxillary edentulous area in Down syndrome patient. The external shape of the final prosthesis was determined by using the mandibular artificial teeth to reflect the oligodontia of the mandible and the pontic areas were adjusted to facilitate oral hygiene care. As a result, aesthetically and functionally satisfactory results were obtained.

The Effectiveness of the Short-term Intensive Intervention Program: Case Report (감각통합기능장애 아동에게 적용한 단기집중치료프로그램의 효과)

  • Objective : To identify the effectiveness of a short-term intensive intervention program on the improvement of adaptive response of a child with mixed sensory integration disorder. Method : Four and half years old boy who has been diagnosed of PDD received 40 min of one intervention session and 50 min of 3 intervention sessions. The intervention was a part of the 2008 Sensory Integration Treatment Course developed by the Korean Academy of Sensory Integration (KASI) and all sessions were implemented under supervision by experts. Result : Adaptive responses of the child were enhanced throughout the intervention process in terms of postural response and peer interaction. His oral defensiveness is improved. As the intervention progressed, he exhibited more active movements, louder voice, and coherence within peer group. Conclusion : This case report demonstrates effectiveness of a short-term intensive intervention program in terms of improving adaptive response. To enrich the effectiveness, tt is suggested to educate parents about neurological base of the child's behaviors so the they understand the importance of various sensory experience within play.

  • Students' learning processes and mathematical levels should be correctly diagnosed in many different methods of assessment to help students learn mathematics. The study developed the model for the process-based assessment while using manipulatives in the middle school in order to improve problem solving, reasoning and communication which are emphasized in 2009 reformed curriculum as the areas of mathematical process. Identifying the principles of assessment, we created the assessment model for each area and carried out a preliminary study. Based on this, we revised the representative items and the observation checklist and then conducted a main study. Through the results of assessment, we found that students' thinking processes were well presented in scoring rubric for their responses on each item. It meant that the purpose of the assessment as a criterion-referenced test was achieved.

  • Students meet with many problems during programming education in computer education. In part of computer education, computer programming education have been researched. And the research have said that computer programming education have helped to increasing of students' creativity during find answer of problem through flexible thought. Especially, elementary school students, who learn to programming language for the first time, feel difficulty, when they learn computer programming. But the use of EPL reduce difficulties. So Students can focus on the thinking. Therefore, in this paper, a draft was produced and applied to observe the creative elements increasing of elementary school students. Than modify and supplement the draft through improvements to a draft obtained by applying. Also, made the educational material that can be used directly in the field.

The Effects of Modified Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy and Bilateral Arm Training on the Upper Extremity Performance of Individuals with Chronic Hemiparetic Stroke (수정된 강제-유도운동치료와 양측성 상지훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 상지 수행 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The intention of this study was to investigate the effects of modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT) with bilateral arm training (BAT) on the motor performance and daily activity performance of individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke. Methods: Sixteen subjects one year after stroke participated in this study with a control group; the pretest-posttest method was used. The subjects were randomly allocated into two groups: combination of bilateral arm training and modified constraint-induced movement therapy (n=8), and modified constraint-induced movement therapy (n=8). The mCIMT group received therapy for 90 minutes in 3 sessions per week over a period of 4 weeks. The patients receiving a combination of mCIMT and BAT were treated for the same period and frequency. The results were evaluated using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment, Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), and Motor Activity Log-Amount of Use, and Quality of Movement (MAL-AOU, QOM) assessment tools. Results: The Fugl-Meyer Assessment showed that hand and wrist performance improved significantly more in the mCIMT group than in the Combination group (p<0.05). Result from the ARAT assessment showed greater scores for gross movement in the combined group than in the mCIMT group (p<0.05). The MAL-AOU showed that there was greater improvement in the combined group than in the mCIMT group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The forced use of the more affected side can be important for the enhancement of upper extremity performance for chronic hemiparetic stroke patients during their daily activities.

A Study on the Instructional Model for Middle School Free-Learning Semester Curriculum (중학교 자유학기 교과의 수업 모형 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a standardized learning model for a free-learning semester, and to provide a practical framework of its curriculum. This paper is a state-funded study to design an instructional model for the free-learning semester. Instructional models that have been implemented in the practical school were constructed through collecting opinions from school teachers. The instructional model for a free-learning semester in this current study is a modification of the existing learning model into the Learning (Meaningful reception learning)-Practice-Production stage. These are designed to reflect the UNESCO proposals that emphasize knowledge, skills, and character, respectively. It is not easy to construct the instructional model for the free-learning semester activities. A three-step strategy that encompasses the UNESCO proposals will be a useful framework for teachers to systematically design and implement free-learning semester teaching.
