In the decision-making, such as selection of structure, construction method, or time and scheme of maintenance, the evaluation of life-cycle cost(LCC) is of great importance. The maintenance cost occupy a large portion of the LCC of the railway track as well as the initial construction cost. Futhermore, the proportion of the maintenance cost is much higher in the ballasted track. Thus, the importance of the LCC evaluation is higher than in any other engineering structures. In this study, a LCC model that can consider various design parameters such as the type of track structure, annual traffic volume, axle load, train speed, and proportion of curve sections and engineering structures has been developed. Fundamental data for calculating costs also have been presented. Based on the model and data proposed, the trends in the variation of LCC according to the design parameters were examined and the most important design parameters in the LCC analysis of railway track were investigated. The results show that the proportion of renewal and operational costs is much higher in the ballasted track than in the concrete track, and the annual traffic volume and ballast taming period are most significant factors on the LCC of the ballasted track. On the contrary, it is revealed that the proportion of the initial construction costs in the concrete track is much higher, and the LCC of the concrete track is less sensitive to the traffic volume, train speed, and axle load.

This study aims to identify the core life-cycle elements for archiving digital content through analyzing the existing digital content life-cycle models and suggest the remedies for management the digital content of KISTI after a comparative study. As a result, the 10 core life-cycle categories consisted of 31 small elements were defined. Furthermore, the recommendations that digital content archiving should be set as a critical mission and archiving policy should be prepared in KISTI were proved.

The main cause of DMSMS is the rapid replacement cycle and short life cycle of parts, according to the development of science, compared to the long life cycle of weapons systems. In particular, the problem of the supply and demand of such parts becomes even more acute during the operation maintenance phase after the mass production and power generation stage. To eliminate DMSMS problems that arise continuously from development to the operation of weapon systems and select the most cost-effective countermeasures to obsolescence, this paper suggests a standard to determine the appropriate time for quantitative performance improvement by conducting total life cycle cost analysis. For such purpose, this study examined the domestic and overseas cost analysis methods and applied it to single domestic weapon system to verify the research. This study responds to the issue of discontinuing components and helps reduce the total life cycle cost of military products.

So far, the importance of informatization, as well as investment into it, has been growing steadily. Due to the uncertainties and risks in adopting information technologies, systematic decision-making is definitely needed in investing in a large scale information system. Based on the existing theories about the economic life span of information systems and in consideration of the actual cost involved in the adoption and operation of the systems by the financial institutions in Korea, this study presents the optimal economic life span for all types of information systems in terms of the economic cost and generalizes the optimal life span. The ultimate purpose of this study is to develop a model that could be used in anticipating the timing of economic replacement of the information system of the same type and making decisions on IT investment.

New Electric Multiple Units that will be released in the rolling stock market are required to meet regulations of reinforced safety and conveniences for passengers. For those reasons, Vehicle purchasing cost to be increased will be unavoidable. However, The reduction of operating cost by employing effective and efficient design on the EMU at initial phase will be expected. Hence, Vehicle purchasing shall be determined to take into consideration of purchasing cost vehicle at first stage and operation cost appropriately. In order for introducing method to presume such costs, this document will show Life Cycle Cost on vehicle and its applicability.

Since the early 2000s, the United States has applied TLCSM to reduce life cycle costs while maintaining the weapons system's combat readiness. With the application of TLCSM, the ILS concept centered on the acquisition stage shifted to IPS, a concept that manages life cycle costs throughout the entire life cycle. In addition, LSAR for developing ILS has switched to LPD for developing IPS. In this study, LSAR in Korea and LPD in the United States were compared and analyzed, and policies necessary for the introduction of LPD in Korea were proposed.
