Comparison of Ileal and Fecal Digestibility of Canola Meal and Wheat Bran in Ducks (채종박과 밀기울에 대한 오리의 분과 회장 소화율 비교)

  • This work was carried out to evaluate the feces and ileal digestibility of canola meal and wheat bran in ducks. Ninety Pekin ducks (6-week-old, average 3.4 kg) were divided into three treatments (6 replications/treatment, 5 birds/replication) by feedstuffs (basal diet, canola meal, and wheat bran) and were fed on these diets in individual metabolic cages for one week. After one week, the samples for analysis were collected from feces and ileum. On comparison of treatments and collected sites, the feces digestibility of basal diet was the highest among treatments on chemical compositions except crude protein and crude fat and ileal digestibility of canola meal was the lowest (P<0.01). On comparison of treatments, the digestibility of basal diet was higher and that of wheat bran was lower when compared to other treatments (P<0.05). The feces digestibility was lower than the ileal digestibility in crude protein (P<0.05) and crude fat (P<0.01). The digestibility of amino acid was the highest at feces of control group among treatments (P<0.01). No significant difference was detected in terms of digestibility of isoleucine, leucine and phenylalanine among essential amino acids, and alanine, glycine and tyrosine among non-essential amino acids between control and wheat bran, and wheat bran and canola meal. However amino acid digestibility was higher in control group when compared to canola meal group (P<0.05). Other amino acid digestibilities were not significantly differ by treatments. These results may provide the basic data on amino acid digestibility of ducks to evaluate feedstuffs and to formulate optimum diet for commercial Pekin duck.

Evaluation of Apparent Ileal and Standardized Ileal Digestibility of Amino Acid in Feed Ingredients to Alterate the Protein Sources for Weaned Pigs (자돈에서 대체 단백질 원료사료의 외관상 회장 아미노산 소화율 및 표준 회장 아미노산 소화율 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the apparent ileal digestibility (AID) and standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acids in feed ingredients for use as protein sources in swine feed. A total of six weaned pigs (Landrace×Yorkshire×Duroc, 14.4±0.35kg) surgically fitted with a T-cannula in the distal ileum were used in this study and were randomly allotted to a 6×6 Latin square design. Corn germ, corn gluten meal (CM), corn gluten feed (CF), chlorella (CH), and lysine co-product (LC) were used for evaluation, and the experimental periods of each ingredient included 5 days for adaptation and 2 days for collection. CH and LC had significantly higher (p<0.05) AID of lysine (79.1% and 78.7%, respectively). The AID of methionine was not significantly different among all feed ingredients. The AID of threonine of CH was significantly higher (p<0.05) than those of other ingredients and was 81.8%. CH, LC, and CM had higher (p<0.05) SID of lysine (80.4%, 79.5%, and 77.0%, respectively). The SID of methionine showed no difference among all treatments. CH showed 81.8% SID of threonine, which was significantly higher (p<0.05) than LC and CF. In conclusion, chlorella and lysine co-product showed the greatest AID and SID of amino acids, which makes them potentially valuable feed ingredients for use as protein sources in swine feed.

Nutrients and Energy Digestibilities of Various Feedstuffs Fed to Israeli Strain of Growing Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) (육성용 이스라엘 잉어에 의한 원료사료의 영양소 및 에너지 소화율)

  • This study was conducted with Israeli strain of common carp to determine apparent protein, lipid and gross energy digestibility coefficients and apparent calcium and phosphorus availabilities of the following feedstuffs : steam-dried white fish meal (WFM-S), flame-dried white fish meal (WFM-F), brown fish meal (BFM), soybean meal (SBM), corn gluten meal (CGM), sesame meal (SSM), wheat flour (WFL), brewer's yeast (BY) and monocalcium phosphate (MCP). Test diets consisting of a 70:30 mixture of refoernce diet to test ingredient were utilized with chromic oxide as an external indicator. Fecal collection was made during 10 days before the end of feeding trial lasted for 27 days. The best weight gain and feed utilization were found in fish fed MCP containing test diet. Protein digestibility was high for most ingredients, ranging from 81.2% for BY to 91.9% for SBM, with the exception of SSM which was 77.6%. Lipid digestibility coefficients ranged 74% for CGM to 85.8% for two kinds of white fish meal. Digestible energy coefficients were generally high for fish meals, ranging from 77.4% for WFM-S to 81.3% for WFM-F, whereas those for plant feedstuffs were significantly (P<0.05) lower, from 64.5% for CGM to 70.6% for BY. Phosphorus availability from fish meals was variable with a low of 6.6% for WFM-F and a high of 13.6% for WFM-S. Phosphorus availability from SBM and BY was 7.3% and 57.2%, respectively. Calcium and phosphorus availabilities from MCP were 84.6% and 80.6%, respectively. These results provide more precise information concerning nutrients and energy utilization of Israeli strain of common carp and will allow ingredient substitutions in practical diet formulations based on levels of availabile protein and phosphorus.

Effect of Heat Treatment on the In Vitro Protein Digestibility and Trypsin Indigestible Substrate (TIS) Contents in Some Seafoods (수산단백질(水産蛋白質) 소화화(消化華)에 미치는 가열처리(加熱處理)의 영향(影響))

  • In an attempt todetermine the optimum heat treatment, the changes in TIS content and in vitro protein digestibility of squid, shrimp, oysterand pollock under various heating conditions were studied. The effect of drying method and cold storage on the in vitro digestibility and TIS content were also studied. Optimal boiling conditions were 1 min, for squid, 0.5min. for oyster(eviscerated), 1 min. for whole oyster, and 5 min. for pollock. Steaming times that yieled products with the highest in vitro digestibility value were: 1 min. at $100^{\circ}C$ for squid, 1 min, at $88^{\circ}C$ for oyster and $1{\sim}2.5min$. at $100^{\circ}C$ for pollock. All of freeze dried samples showed the highest in vitro digestibility value and sundried one were comparble to freeze dried samples except high fat level or noneviscerated samples. Fat content was the nain inhivbitory factor of the seafood enzymic digestion during processing and storage. The multi-enzyme assay, used to predict the quality change of dried seafoods stored in a cold room for long periods of raw seafoods treated with various heating methods, offers many advantages over the convetional methods of determining protein quality.

Effect of Pepsin-HC$\ell$ Concentration and Digestion Time on the Protein Digestibility of the Cattle Skin Meal (Pepsin농도와 소화시간이 우피분의 단백질 소화율에 미치는 영향)

  • Protein digestibitlities of hydrolyzed cattle skin meals were examined at a constant pepsin-MC$\ell$ concentration (0.2%) for varying lengths of incubation time (from 4 to 20 hours) and at varying concentrations of pepsin-HC$\ell$ (from 0.0125 to 0.2%) for 16 hours at 45$^{\circ}C$. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Protein digestibilities of hydrolyzed cattle skin meals in 0.2% pepsin-HCl were 66.31%, 80.69%, 83.72%, 84.65% and 81.45% for 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 hours incubation, respectively. Protein digestibilities were maintained above 80% for 8-hour incubation and were increasing incubation time. 2. Protein digestibilities of hydrolyzed cattle skin meal incubated for 16 hours at 0.2%, 0.1%, 0.05%, 0.025% and 0.0125% pepsin-HC$\ell$ solution were 85.10%, 82.08%, 76.18%, 74.67% and 64.82%, respectively. Protein digestibilities were decreased with decreasing pepsin concentration.

  • 이번 연구는 아플라톡신 $B_1(AFB_2)$의 독성이 오리의 생산성, 체내 기관, 간 효소 활성도, 외관상 소화율, 영양소 소화율에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 1일령의 육용오리 90마리를 3개의 처리군으로 나눠 10마리씩 펜에서 사육하였다. 그룹1은 일반 사료를 급여하였고, 그룹 2와 3은 각각 아플라톡신 $20{\mu}g/kg$, $40{\mu}g/kg$이 포함된 오염된 쌀을 섞어 6주 동안 급여하였다. 그 결과 아플라톡신에 오염된 사료를 섭취한 그룹의 증체량과 사료 섭취량이 감소하였고, 사료요구률(feed to gain ratio), 간, 신장, 췌장의 무게가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 알라닌 아미노전이효소(ALT, serum alanine aminotransferase)와 혈중 아스파라진산 아미노전이효소(AST, aspartate aminotransferase)의 활성도도 아플라톡신 오염 그룹에서 유의성을 보이며 높았다. 아플라톡신 오염 그룹의 오리들의 십이지장에서 채취한 단백질 분해효소, 키모트립신, 트립신(이자액에서 분비되는 단백질 분해효소), 전분 가수 분해효소 등 소화효소의 활성도가 증가한 반면, 조단백질의 외관상 소화율은 유의성있게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 아플라톡신에 오염된 사료로가 오리의 생산성과 영양소의 외관상 소화율을 감소시키고 십이지장 내용물의 소화효소활성을 변화시킨다고 볼 수 있다.

Nutritional Evaluation of Rice with Different Processing Treatments on in vitro Rumen Fermentation Characteristics and in situ Degradation (재고미의 가공처리에 따른 in vitro, in situ 소화율 및 발효성상 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different processing of rice on rumen fermentation in in vitro and in situ experiments. Different processing treatments (extruding, roasting, and steaming) were used in this study and all treatments were ground through a cyclone mill (Foss, Hillerød, Denmark) fitted with a 1 mm screen. Non-treated rice was considered to a control substrate. Then, all treatments were used in in vitro and in situ experiments. Total gas production and dry matter digestibility in control were lower than any other treatment at all incubation times (P<0.01). The lowest ammonia nitrogen ($NH_3-N$) concentration was observed in control among treatments at 6, 12, and 24 h incubation (P<0.01). Extruding had a highest total volatile fatty acids (VFA) concentration at 6, 12 h incubation (P<0.01) and Steaming exhibited a highest total VFA at 24 h (P<0.01). The lowest total VFA concentration was observed in control at 6, 12, and 24 h (P<0.01). In an in situ, The highest value of soluble fraction, degradation rates, effective degradability was observed in extruding (P<0.01). It was considered that feed processing increased dry matter digestibility, total VFA concentration, and decreased pH as well as $NH_3-N$ concentration indicating that processing may increase nutrient degradation of rice in the rumen.

꽃사슴에 있어서 소화율 및 소화관내 통과속도의 계절간 차이

  • 꽃사슴에 있어서 계절간 소화율의 차이와 사료의 통과속도와의 관계를 암사슴 4두를 공시하여 겨울과 여름에 각각 실시하였다. 사료의 통과속도는 Cr염색법을 이용하였고, 또한 비중별(0.91, 1.20, 1.55, 2.10g/ml) 통과속도의 차이를 규명하기 위하여 plastic particle(PP)를 이용하여 조사하였다. 건물, 유기물, 조단백질 그리고 NDF의 소화율은 겨울철보다 여름철이 높은 경향이었으나 유의적인 차이는 없었다(P>0.05). 그리고 분중의 경시적인 Cr 회수율과 누적회수율에서 계절간에 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 비중별 회수율에 있어서도 계절간의 차이는 나타나지 않았으나, 비중간의 차이는 유의성 있는 차이(P<0.05)를 보였다. 비중 0.90에서는 모든 사슴이 $6\%$의 미만의 낮은 회수율을 보였으나 1.20이상부터 회수율은 높아졌고, 비중 2.10의 PP는 $75\%$ 이상이 회수되었다. 그리나 비중 1.20과 1.55의 PP는 개체간 변이가 심하게 나타나 최대 $95.1\%$에서 최저$1.3\%$의 범위를 보였다. 반추에 의한 이빨자국을 기초로 반추율을 조사한 결과, 비중 0.90의 PP는 약 $70\%$ 반추율을 보였으나 비중 2.10의 PP는 $5\%$미만의 반추율을 나타내어 비중이 높을수록 반추되지 않고 보다 빨리 2-3위구를 통과하기 때문에 통과속도가 빨랐던 것으로 나타났다.

Additivity of Ileal Crude Protein Digestibility and Comparison of Digestibility with Methodological Consideration in Broilers (육계에서의 회장 조단백질 소화율 가산성 평가 및 방법론적 소화율 비교)

  • This study was aimed at evaluating the additivity of crude protein digestibility in mixed diets of corn and soybean meal (SBM), and comparing direct and indirect methods for evaluating crude protein (CP) digestibility. Totally, five hundred and twenty-five 18-day-old broiler chickens were grouped into 7 blocks based on body weight, and randomly allocated to 6 treatment groups in a randomized complete block design. The basal diet, diet 3, was corn-SBM-based, containing 65% corn and 28% SBM. Diets 1 and 5 contained corn and SBM, respectively, as the sole CP source. To use the difference method, 2 diets, diets 2 and 4, were prepared by mixing corn and SBM at the expense of the basal diet, respectively. Diet 2 contained 79% corn and 14% SBM, and diet 4 contained 32.5% corn and 34% SBM. To evaluate the additivity of digestibility values, the difference between measured values for the mixed diets (diets 2, 3, and 4) and predicted values calculated using the measured values for diets 1 and 5 was examined. The apparent (AID) and standardized (SID) ileal digestibility of CP in SBM differed between the direct and indirect methods; however, corresponding digestibility did not differ for corn. Additionally, the predicted and measured digestibility of both AID and SID differed in diets 2 and 3, implying that the digestibility values obtained from diets 1 and 5 were not additive for mixed diets. In conclusion, this study showed that digestibility evaluated by direct and indirect methods depends on the ingredients having different CP concentrations, and this finding may be considered to improve the accuracy of feed formulation for broiler chickens.

Effects of Yeast Culture Supplementation on Rice Straw Digestibility and Cellulolytic Bacterial Community in the Rumen (볏짚 조사료에 대한 효모 배양물 첨가가 반추위 소화율 및 섬유소 분해균의 군락 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • In vitro and in situ incubation studies were conducted to determine effects of yeast culture supplements (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on cellulolytic bacterial function and fiber digestion in rice straw. In vitro dry matter digestibility of rice straw gradually increased according to supplemental levels of yeast culture (0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0%). Digestibility of rice straw started to increase apparently when yeast culture was added more than 0.6% level (p<0.05). Also, we reconfirmed that in vitro dry matter digestibility was significantly increased by 0.6% of yeast culture addition in 4% NaOH treated and non-treated rice straws (p<0.05). When in situ dry matter digestibility was tested in Korean native goats fed basal diet or experimental diet which contained 1.0% of yeast culture, the yeast culture feeding improved in situ dry matter digestibility in both 4% NaOH treated and non-treated rice straws (p<0.05). In case of real-time PCR monitoring cellulolytic bacterial function, the bacterial population attached on rice straw showed the increasing trends with higher level of yeast culture spraying on rice straw. F. succinogenes and R. flavefaciens were significantly increased in accordance to spraying levels of yeast culture (0.0, 0.1 and 0.3%) at both 12 and 24 hrs of in situ incubation (p<0.05). R. albus was significantly higher population in yeast culture spraying than non-soraying at 12 hrs of in situ incubation (p<0.05). These bacterial populations were showed the increasing trends with digestibility enhancement of rice straw according to the higher levels of yeast culture supplement. Overall, these results clearly suggest that the presence of yeast culture result in noticeable increase of rice straw digestion, which is modulated via good effect on cellulolytic bacterial attachment to fiber substrates.
