Context-aware based TV Application Services in Ubiquitous Computing Environments (유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 상황인식 기반 TV 응용 서버스)

  • With the advent of ubiquitous computing environments, it has become increasingly important for applications to take full advantage of context information, such as the user's location, to offer greater services to the user without any explicit request. In this paper, we propose context-aware active services on the basis of CAMUS (Context-Aware Middleware for URC Systems). CAMUS is a middleware for providing context-aware applications with development and execution methodology. Accordingly, the applications developed by CAMUS respond in a timely fashion to contexts. To evaluate, we apply proposed active services to TV application domain. Therefore, we implement and experiment the TV contents recommendation service agent, control service agent and TV task based on CAMUS. The context-aware TV task is to recommend programs and control of TV according to user preference, location and voice commands.

Color Transformation of Images based on User Preference (사용자 취향을 반영한 영상의 색변환)

  • Color affects people in their various combinations of hue, saturation and value. On the other hand, people may feel different emotion from the same color. If we can introduce these characteristics of color and people's emotion about color to emotion-based digital technologies and their contents, we can effectively draw users' interest and immersion to the contents. In this paper, we will show how people feel about color and present a method of image coloring that reflects the user's preference. First, we define basic templates that reflect the relationship between color and emotion, and then perform an image coloring. To reflect user's preference, we compute weights for hue, saturation and value through the experiments on each subject's preference about hue, saturation and value. The image coloring for each subject's taste will be drawn by updating the weights of hue, saturation and value. Through the results of experiments and surveys, we found that people were more satisfied with the transformation of the templates which reflected user's preference than the one that did not.

Design and Implementation of a Virtual Machine for Embedded Systems (임베디드 시스템을 위한 가상기계의 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper presents the EVM(Embedded Virtual Machine) which enables the execution of dynamic applications loaded in the embedded systems such as Mobile Devices(mobile phone, PDA), Set-Top Box, and Digital TV using downloading techniques. To accomplish this goal, we defined a SIL-(Standard Intermediate Language) code, and implemented a Bytecode-to-SIL translator which enables the execution of programs written in java language in the EVM platform without JVM, and a MSIL--to-SIL- translator which enables for programs written in .NET language to be executed in the EVM platform without .NET platform. Also, we developed a EFF(Executable File Format) builder as an assembler which translates SIL codes into an executable file, *.evm, and implemented the EVM which reads the *.evm file and executes it. The virtual machine for embedded systems developed in this paper is the software technologies that enable the execution of applications or contents without changes to when the platforms change. In fact, the virtual machine suggested here is not only usable as a standard model for existing virtual machines but also aid in more efficient execution of applications loaded in the embedded systems such as Mobile Devices, Digital TV, and Set-Top Box.

An Active Network Execution Environment for on Demand Customization of Communication Protocols and Services (맞춤형 통신 프로토콜과 서비스를 위한 액티브 네트워크 실행환경)

  • In this paper, we present the design and implementation of new execution environment named Customizable Architecture for Flexible Execution Environment(CAFEs) that supports the mechanism of protocol customization and service referencing. We introduce a new concept as micro protocols and active services to enhance software reusability. Micro protocol represents a specific algorithm or functionality of existing network protocol and the active service is in charge of binding legacy application and releasing the active network oriented services. The pro-posed active network execution environment is made up of three parts, virtual network system, protocol and service manager, event engine. First, the virtual network system is used to connect each active nodes using virtual network channels which are based on multiple existing protocol layers. Second, the protocol and service manager is responsible for composing micro protocols and active services to develop new network proto-col and service easily. Finally, the event engine is used to detect the automatic transition of system components using event delegation model. To verify the CAFTs, we have an experiment about the delivery of web contents which are suitable for the user's terminals in the wireless Internet environment. As a result. we are able to obtain the availability of developed execution environment.

A Streaming System based on Transcoding using the Prediction Period (예측주기를 이용한 트랜스코딩 기반의 스트리밍 시스템)

  • Multimedia is a very popular service in the Internet. But, we cannot provide multimedia service at a uniform content, because networks and devices are various. Thus, an adaptive service is needed for multimedia transmission. Video Transcoding is the good solution that can service multimedia adaptively. This paper proposes the streaming system that is composed of encoder, transcoder, decoder The encoder enhanced time complexity and PSNR in case of transcoding using PP(Prediction Period). The decoder is almost same as the traditional media player. Transcoder reduced time complexity through combination of prediction period in encoder and skipping period to control frame rate in transcoder. In simulation results, the performances of proposed scheme outperform the system with traditional transcoder in time complexity and PSNR.

A Watermarking for Text Document Images using Edge Direction Histograms (에지 방향 히스토그램을 이용한 텍스트 문서 영상의 워터마킹)

  • The watermarking is a method to achieve the copyright protection of multimedia contents. Among several media, the left documents show very peculiar properties: block/line/word patterning, clear separation between foreground and background areas. So algorithms specific to the text documents are required that meet those properties. This paper proposes a novel watermarking algorithm for the grayscale text document images. The algorithm inserts the watermark signals through the edge direction histograms. A concept of sub-image consistency is developed that the sub-images have similar shapes in terms of edge direction histograms. Using Korean, Chinese, and English document images, the concept is evaluated and proven to be valid over a wide range of document images. To insert watermark signals, the edge direction histogram is modified slightly. The experiments were performed on various document images and the algorithm was evaluated in terms of imperceptibility and robustness.

  • During COVID-19, education industry is organizing the concept of 'Edutech', which has evolved one step further from the existing e-Learning, by introducing various intelligent information technologues based on the core technology of the 4th industrial revolution and spreading it through diverse contents. Meanwhile, each industries are creating new industries by applying new technology to existing businesses and ask for needs of cultivating human resources who understand the existing traditional ICT technology and industrial business which can solve a newly rising problems. However, it is difficult to build contents for cultivating such human resources with the existing e-learning of transferring knowledge by one-way or some two-way commnication system which has established some interactive conversational system. Accordingly, this study conducted a research on a cooperative e-learning system that enables educators to communicate with learners in real time and allows problem-solving education based on the existing two-way communication system. As a result, frame for contents and prototype was developedp and artially applied to the actual class and conducted an efficiency analysis, which resulted in the validation of being applied to the actual class as a simulation-based cooperative content.

  • 최근 인터넷이 발전함에 따라 월드와이드웹(World Wide Web) 기반의 웹 서비스가 급격한 발전을 이루었다. 또한 이 웹 서비스를 바탕으로 다양한 컨텐츠들과 이를 이용하는 사용자의 수도 함께 증가하였다. 그러나 이와 같은 웹 서비스의 보편화가 증대될수록 이를 악용하려는 사이버 범죄 또한 비례하여 증가하고 있다. 최근에는 공격자들이 스마트폰을 대상으로 악성코드를 전파하기 위한 방법으로 웹 서비스를 활용하기 시작하면서 웹 서비스의 보안에 대한 중요성이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 이러한 웹 서비스 보안의 필요성을 인지하고, 많은 사람들이 무료로 쉽게 웹 서비스 보안취약점을 진단 할 수 있도록 여러 오픈소스 기반의 보안 취약점 진단도구가 연구, 개발되고 있다. 하지만 웹 서비스의 보안약점을 진단하는 도구의 적합성 평가 및 기능 분류가 명확하지 않아서 진단도구를 선택하고 활용함에 있어 어려움이 따른다. 본 논문에서는 OWASP에서 위험도에 따라 선정한 웹 서비스의 보안 취약점 Top 10 항목과 소프트웨어 보안약점 진단가이드 등을 통해 웹 서비스 보안 취약점을 진단하는 도구에 대한 분석 기준을 제시한다. 이후 오픈소스로 공개된 테스트 기반 취약점 탐지도구와 소스 기반 취약점 진단도구들에 대해 제시한 기준을 이용하여 분석한다. 본 논문의 분석결과로 웹 서비스의 안전성을 평가하기 위해 활용할 수 있는 진단 도구에 대한 분석정보를 제공함으로써 보다 안전한 웹 서비스의 개발과 운영에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

  • Recently, various platforms and contents for artificial intelligence education have been developed, but artificial intelligence education programs for the lower grades of elementary school are insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop an artificial intelligence education program for learners in the lower grades of elementary school. It was designed using the Novel Engineering with various convergence education research cases for software education. After the first program was developed, it was verified by expert validity test, and the program was modified and developed accordingly. It was necessary to construct a program based on spoken language rather than written language in consideration of the level of learners in the lower grades in the process of acquiring Hangeul, and to secure the number of educational hours through integration between subjects. It is expected that this study can suggest a new direction for artificial intelligence education for elementary and lower grade learners.

It was designed using the Novel Engineering, and its validity was verified by expert validation. It was necessary to construct a program based on spoken language rather than written language in consideration of the level of learners in the lower grades in the process of acquiring Hangeul, and to secure the number of educational hours through integration between subjects. There have been various research cases of software education with Novel Engineering, and its effectiveness has been verified. Artificial intelligence education is also expected to be applied in the school field through Novel Engineering.
