Implementation and Performance Evaluation of Migration Agent for Seamless Virtual Environment System in Grid Computing Network (그리드 컴퓨팅 네트워크에서 Seamless 가상 환경 시스템 구축을 위한 마이그레이션 에이전트 구현 및 성능 평가)

  • MMORPG is a role-playing game that tens of thousands of people access it online at the same time. Users connect to the server through the game client and play with their own characters. If the user moves to a management area of another server beyond the area managed by the server, the user information must be transmitted to the server to be moved. In an actual game, the user is required to synchronize the established and the transferred information. In this paper, we propose a migration agent server in the virtual systems. We implement a seamless virtual server using the grid method to experiment with seamless server architecture for virtual systems. We propose a method to minimize the delay and equalize the load when the user moves to another server region in the virtual environment. Migration Agent acts as a cache server to reduce response time, the response time was reduced by 50% in the case of 70,000 people.

  • Cloud Computing virtualizes logical resources like cpu, memory and disks etcs from physical machines. This virtualization technology increases computing resource utilization and supports dynamic resource allocations. Because of these benefits, global cloud computing services like Amazon AWS, Google Cloud and Apple iCloud are prevalent. With this cloud Computing services, there has been a request about cloud migration between different cloud environments. If one service which operates in a cloud computing environment wants to migrate to another cloud environment, there should have been a compitability between two different cloud environment. but even global cloud computing services do not support this compitability. In this paper, we suggest a process and technology to cloud migrations based on open sources.

  • In a MMORPG, a typical application of virtual environment systems, it is a common desire to play in a more realistic environment. However, it is very difficult to provide a latency-free virtual environment to a large user base, mainly due to the fact that the real environment must be configured on multiple servers rather than on single server and that data must be shared on the real server when users move from one region to another. Experiencing response delays continuously in the process of information synchronization between servers greatly deteriorates the degree of immersion. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to minimize the response delay occurring in the information synchronization process between the servers. In this paper, we propose Migration Agent for efficient information synchronization between field servers providing information of virtual environment and minimizing response delay between Field Server and PC(Player Character) and implement it in cloud computing network. In the proposed system, CPU utilization of field server increased by 6 ~ 13%, and response time decreased by 5 ~ 10 seconds over the existing system in 70,000 ~ 90,000 PCs

Allocation Techniques for NVM-Based Fast Storage Considering Application Characteristics (응용의 특성을 고려한 NVM 기반 고속 스토리지의 배치 방안)

  • This paper presents an optimized adoption of NVM for the storage system considering application characteristics. To do so, we first characterize the storage access patterns for different application types, and make two prominent observations that can be exploited in allocating NVM storage efficiently. The first observation is that a bulk of I/O does not happen on a single storage partition, but it is varied significantly for different application categories. Our second observation is that there exists a large proportion of single accessing in storage data. Based on these observations, we show that maximizing the storage performance with NVM is not obtained by fixing it as a specific storage partition but by allocating it adaptively for different applications. Specifically, for graph, database, and web applications, using NVM as a swap, a journal, and a file system partitions, respectively, performs well.

  • Recently, to alleviate the memory bottleneck problme occurred in Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) architecture, Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) architecture was proposed. In addition, since an aggregation operator is an important operator providing properties and summary of data, the efficiency of the aggregation operator is crucial to overall performance of a system. Thus, in this paper, we propose an efficient aggregation processing technique on NUMA architecture. Our proposed technique consists of partition phase and merge phase. In the partition phase, the target relation is partitioned into several partial relations according to grouping attribute. Thus, since each thread can process aggregation operator on partial relation independently, we prevent the remote memory access during the merge phase. Furthermore, at the merge phase, we improve the performance of the aggregation processing by letting each thread compute aggregation with a local hash table as well as avoiding lock contention to merge aggregation results generated by all threads into one.

  • In the case of a partition panel for a vehicle, it is used as a vehicle chassis component that serves to distinguish the indoor and outdoor spaces of a vehicle and is mounted on a backrest portion of the vehicle's back seat to ensure the convenience of passengers by connecting the floor and the side of the vehicle. Because it is a relatively large-sized plate material among automobile chassis parts except the moving parts and non-ferrous materials can be applied, it is considered as a part having a large light-weight effect. However, the partition panel is one of the vehicle parts that must satisfy the light-weight effect as well as various structural reliability, such as torsional rigidity, vibration, and impact characteristics, for securing the running stability of the vehicle when driving at the same time. So, In this study, the possibility of replacing the aluminum partition panel as CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) partition panel is evaluated through comparing the two partition panels by using the structural reliability(stiffness/strength analysis), vibration analysis, impact analysis.

  • Recently, the utility of UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) for a smart farm using various sensors and ICT (Information & Communications Technology) is expected. In particular, it has proven its effectiveness as an outdoor crop monitoring method through various indices and is being studied in various fields. This study analyzes damage to crops caused by natural disasters and measures the damage area of rice plants. To this end, data is acquired using BG-NIR (Blue Green_Near Infrared Red) and RGB sensors, and image analysis and NDWI (Normalized Difference Water Index) index performed to review crop damage caused by in the rainy season. Also, point cloud data based on image analysis is generated, and damage is measured by comparing data before and after the typhoon through an inspection map. As a result of the study, the growth and rainy season damage of rice was examined through NDWI index analysis, and the damage area caused by typhoon was measured by analysis of the inspection map.

  • With the recent development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the convergence of vehicles and IT technologies, high-performance applications such as autonomous driving are emerging, and multi-access edge computing (MEC) has attracted lots of attentions as next-generation technologies. In order to provide service to these computation-intensive tasks in low latency, many methods have been proposed to partition tasks so that they can be performed through cooperation of multiple MEC servers(MECSs). Conventional methods related to task partitioning have proposed methods for partitioning tasks on vehicles as mobile devices and offloading them to multiple MECSs, and methods for offloading them from vehicles to MECSs and then partitioning and migrating them to other MECSs. In this paper, the performance of task partitioning methods using offloading and migration is compared and analyzed in terms of service delay, blocking rate and energy consumption according to the method of selecting partitioning targets and the number of partitioning. As the number of partitioning increases, the performance of the service delay improves, but the performance of the blocking rate and energy consumption decreases.

A Study on the Gamification of SNS Challenge Contents (SNS 챌린지 콘텐츠의 게이미피케이션 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to comprehensively consider the challenge contents enjoyed based on SNS through the concept of Gamification and MDA framework. Regardless of the top-down and bottom-up divisions, in common, the participants show an active figure leading the creation and enjoyment of contents. As a result of analyzing the challenge contents using the MDA framework, the mechanics of 'relative level', 'challenge with expressive purpose', and 'Paidia rules' were found. This leads to the dynamics of participants who express an inner sense of achievement such as 'selection and competition for better expression' and 'selflessness and superiority', creating an environment where they can continuously participate in the challenge contents. Lastly, looking at the aesthetics of the challenge contents, it can be seen that participants are actively forming a play culture that leads the creation and enjoyment of contents. This phenomenon has resulted in breaking down the hegemony of content creation and distribution, which was the responsibility of society in the field of information transmission and commercial advertising.

UAV-MEC Offloading and Migration Decision Algorithm for Load Balancing in Vehicular Edge Computing Network (차량 엣지 컴퓨팅 네트워크에서 로드 밸런싱을 위한 UAV-MEC 오프로딩 및 마이그레이션 결정 알고리즘)

  • Recently, research on mobile edge services has been conducted to handle computationally intensive and latency-sensitive tasks occurring in wireless networks. However, MEC, which is fixed on the ground, cannot flexibly cope with situations where task processing requests increase sharply, such as commuting time. To solve this problem, a technology that provides edge services using UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) has emerged. Unlike ground MEC servers, UAVs have limited battery capacity, so it is necessary to optimize energy efficiency through load balancing between UAV MEC servers. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a load balancing technique with consideration of the energy state of UAVs and the mobility of vehicles. The proposed technique is composed of task offloading scheme using genetic algorithm and task migration scheme using Q-learning. To evaluate the performance of the proposed technique, experiments were conducted with varying mobility speed and number of vehicles, and performance was analyzed in terms of load variance, energy consumption, communication overhead, and delay constraint satisfaction rate.
