  • Like always selecting anything in everyday lives, We must choose a travel mode to achieve its purposes driven by diverse factors such as travel distance and accessibility of public transit. Assuming that they are differentiated depending on whether a travel purpose is commuting, shopping or leasure, the study investigated their distinguished impacts on travel mode choice by using binary logit models by travel purpose and mode. Identifying that travel time has an important role in choosing a travel mode whether its purpose is any, the results show that longer travel time tends to increase the possibilities of taking public transit, transfer and rail transit rather than bus. In addition, the easy use of a car and its parking to travelers is more important in their choosing an automobile as a travel mode than other factors. In the models of identifying the probability of mode choice between bus and rail transit, we find that its choice tends to be decided by travelers depending on whether any public transit mode is more accessible to them. When comparing the results among travel purposes, we identify that the easy use of a car and parking in their destination is more important for commuting, while accessibility of public transit in their origination increases the probability of taking a transit mode.

  • This study investigated emotional-utilitarian motivation to visit a coffee shop and segmented the market based on motivational factors realizing that coffee is considered as emotional and utilitarian goods in reality. As a result of market segmentation, three groups were identified: emotional consumers, utilitarian consumers, and passive consumers. Choice attributes of visiting a coffee shop according to each group were found to be significantly different. Firstly, emotional consumers highly perceived the importance of the emotional factors such as 'coffee taste and mood', 'special coffee', 'clean space' and also the utilitarian factors such 'price benefit', 'internet access,' etc. Therefore, emotional consumers could be utilitarian one at the same time. On the other hand, utilitarian consumers were highly aware of the importance of 'independent space available for a group meeting', 'degrees of being crowded', and 'facilities such as a bathroom and smoking area.' As for the demographic and the behavioral factors of having coffee, only gender, types of coffee, time and places have a significant relation.

  • This study investigated the effects of online shopping malls' HMR selection attributes upon satisfaction and repurchase intention. Study subjects were Busan residents from whome 252 valid questionnaire responses were collected and used for analysis. The study conducted afrequency analysis to explain demographic characteristics using SPSS 18.0. Other anaylses were perfromed in order to investigate the effects of online shopping mall HMR selection attributes upon satisfaction and repurchase intention. The findings revealed that convenience, package brands, palatability, price and food quality appropriateness exhibited a significant influence, although food quality did not have a significant influence on customer satisfaction. In addition, customer satisfaction had a significant influence upon repurchase intention. Therefore, a high added value brand with high quality packing and design is thought to be more important than inexpensive price and low quality.

  • Priming Effect, as a part of "Contextual Effect" is the phenomenon that pre-searched product information influences consecutive product evaluation. "Priming Effect" is different from other types of "Contextual Effects" in that pre-searched information doesn't have an direct effect on product evaluation, but an indirect effect which means that pre-searched information influences interpretation of consecutive product evaluation. On the previous theoretical background, this study investigated that how visual images can influence consumer preference and product choice, introducing concept of priming effects into the design of on-line shopping malls. This experiment adopted the digital cameras as the experimental stimulus target products and designed the individual web pages by priming the attributes of price and size. In result of analysis, the difference of product preference by priming attributes was proved to be statistically significant. In this reason, suggesting the background of commercial web page can be the significant factor in choosing products, the priming effects introduced into the design can be positively employed in online advertising.mployed in online advertising.

  • As the market for coffee chains becomes fierce, it is important for coffee chains to establish an enduring relationship with customers and encourage them to revisit their stores. Thus, it becomes important to understand consumers' repurchase decision-making mechanisms in the context of coffee chains. Customer satisfaction, perceived switching costs, and regret were considered as the main factors of customers' repurchase intentions. Especially, the effect of regret experience of coffee chains on consumers' repurchase decision was examined. In addition, coffee quality, physical environment quality, service encounters performance, and brand trust were considered as attributes of coffee shop selection, and their effects on customer satisfaction and perceived switching cost were investigated. The results of the study showed that customer satisfaction and perceived switching costs had a positive effect on repurchase intention, while regret had a negative effect on repurchase intention. Coffee quality and physical environmental quality had no significant effect on customer satisfaction and perceived conversion cost. Service encounter performance had a significant impact on perceived switching costs alone. Brand trust had a significant impact on both customer satisfaction and perceived switching cost.

  • Users of Smartphone in Korea are using the majority of the economically active population over 99% and experts have seen that they have reached saturation after the initial formation stages. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influencing factors of dominant design attributes on the intention of continuous use of Smartphone users. Predictor factors were selected perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use suggested on extended the technology acceptance model. The concept model was completed by selecting the dominant design attribute as a mediator. Participants of this study were 150 Smartphone users in Busan Gyeongnam and Iksan Jeonbuk province in accordance with convenience sampling. IBM SPSS Statistics 19 were employed for descriptive statistics, Smart PLS (partial least squares) was employed for confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis of casual relationship among variables and effect. Analytical results show that all paths of continue usage intention are significant. This study suggests practical and theoretical implications based on the results.

  • Korea's aging population is rapidly increasing, but there has been little research into senior-friendly foods. Therefore, this study aimed to provide basic data for the development of senior-friendly Home Meal Replacement(HMR) foods by conducting a survey among elderly and middle-aged persons highly likely to purchase senior-friendly foods in the near future. Study findings showed that the level of HMR purchase was higher among the middle-aged, many subjects preferred products requiring simple cooking, and a higher proportion of subjects purchased them offline. Five HMR selection attributes were identified, and dietary lifestyles were classified into four categories. Through a cluster analysis, 3 groups based on level of involvement were identified: high-level, mid-level, and low-level. Napping® analysis showed that subjects classified food products into HMR and meal kits, and into products with a clear broth and products with a thicker broth. The study findings are expected to help suggest a differentiating approach in developing senior-friendly HMR foods.

  • The elderly population in Korea is growing rapidly and their needs for long-term care has also increased. By the year 2018, our society will be approaching aged society and by 2026 it will be a super-aged society. The purpose of this study was to employ conjoint analysis to establish the relative importance of foodservice encounters in terms of determining the utility values of hospital foodservice for elderly patients. According to the results pearson's R(0.420) and Kendall's tau(0.402) statistics showed that the model fits the data well(p<0.05). The relative importance scores of hospital foodservice encounters were as follows: dietary counseling with dietetics(51.2%), foodservice personnel(48.7%), and food(0.1%). A soft cooking method(0.001) was preferred to a general cooking method(0.001), and kind foodservice personnel(0.086) were preferred to quick service(-0.086). Finally, counseling with a dietitian once a week(-0.138) was preferred to counseling twice a week (-0.276). Based on this conjoint analysis, the most preferable model for foodservice at a long-term care facility would be; soft cooking methods, kind service by foodservice personnel, and dietetic counseling once a week. Overall, a better understanding of the specific needs of our institutionalized elderly is one of the key elements that can help our long-term care system develop improved foodservice programs.
