Wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) is the most widely adopted third generation air interface. The physical layer of the air interface is the main discussion topic during standardization processes. This paper aims to investigate the performance of uplink WCDMA over many conceivable transmission scenarios in realistic operating conditions. The focus of the study is placed on the performance under frequency selective fading channel conditions with multiple access interference (MAI) in mixed services environments. For the investigation, a simulator has been developed and it encompasses a variety of WCDMA air interface features. The results show that the performance is greatly affected by MAI and is further aggravated with the presence of frequency selective fading, thereby necessitating a suitable compensation measure.

오디오와 음성 압축 기술적 근간은 서로 다르지만, 최근의 모바일 멀티미디어 기기 시장의 컨버전스 현상에 따라 압축하고자 하는 신호가 혼용되고 있으며, 비슷한 목표 전송률과 음질로 수렴하고 있다. 현재는 동일 기기에서 서로 다른 압축 기술을 적용하고 있으나, 음성과 음악이 동시에 서비스 되는 멀티미디어 기기에서는 단일 압축 방식으로 처리하고자 하는 이슈가 부각되고 있다. 특히, 스마트 폰 및 음악 콘텐츠 포탈 서비스의 대중화를 고려할 때, 음성 및 음악 신호 모두를 효율적으로 압축하는 음악 및 음성 신호의 융합 압축 기술이 더욱 필요해 보인다. 본 고에서는 MPEG 오디오 그룹에서 가장 최근 진행한 Unified Speech and Audio Coding(USAC)의 탄생 배경 및 표준화 현황을 소개한다. USAC는 64kbps 이하에서 기술적으로 최고 성능을 지닌 AMR-WB+ 및 HE-AAC v2보다도 우월한 음질을 보이며, 높은 비트율에서도 동등한 음질을 보장한다. 이런 우수한 음질에 기여한 USAC의 스위칭 구조와 더불어 기술적으로 향상된 주요 모듈인 파라미터 기반 스테레오 및 고주파 압축, 그리고 엔트로피 코딩 방식에 대해서 살펴 본다. 향후, 다양한 오디오 신호를 효율적으로 압축하는 USAC는 디지털 라디오, 모바일 TV, 그리고 오디오 북과 같은 사용자 시나리오에서 사용될 확률이 높아 보인다. 또한, USAC는 배경 잡음이나 배경 음악이 있는 경우에도 성능이 우수하기 때문에 YouTube 및 podcast 등과 같이 사용자가 콘텐츠를 생성할 때도 유용하게 사용 될 수 있다.

With the advent of convergence environment of broadcasting and communication, IPTV has been widely used. It provides services such as information, movie contents and broadcasting with TV through super-highway information networks. The purpose of this study is to suggest its educational applications to overcome the limits existing in the education. For this goal, we sought its concept and characteristic and drew educational implications by analyzing its contents. We also suggested what-if scenarios for its educational applications, considered its possibilities in educational applications and suggested the kinds of teaching-learning utilizing it and its educational applications for the various subjects. Finally, we examined problems which were considered before its applications in the education with the classification of legal, technical and educational problems.

The need for a unified data communication for home digital devices and realtime multimedia services in home network has led to recent research on home gateway over the broadcasting and communication convergence network. In this paper, we discuss requirement for such home gateway design and define services that the home gateway provides. Then, we propose a home gateway architecture aimed to efficient multimedia distribution for heterogeneous devices in the home network. The proposed home gateway has a role of protocol gateway, media server, and media trans-coder. Finally, we show the feasibility of the proposed home gateway in several multimedia distribution scenario.

Web2.0 시대를 맞아, 개인화(Personalize)와 사용자 중심(User Centric Method)의 참여형 서비스 시나리오에 기반하여 융합단말이 사용되어지고 있다. 대표적인 사용예가 UCC인데, 효과적인 지식공유와 적절한 정보를 추천하기 위해 효율적인 UCC 기반 콘텐츠의 사용의 참조(참조)가 가능하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 UCC Learning의 효율적인 콘텐츠 양방향 서비스를 위하여, 참조 요소 관리를 할 수 있도록 데이터베이스를 설계 운영할 수 있는 방안에 관하여 연구하였다. 향후, 저작도구를 사용하여, UCC를 저작하는 한계를 극복하여, 다양한 콘텐츠방식 저작에 활용되어질 수 있도록 할 계획이다.

According to a statistical survey, despite the continuous improvement of the economic level, the participation rate of donations is decreasing. As a cause of this phenomenon, the problem of reliability of donation organizations is a big part. In order to increase viewers' intention to donate, this study developed a donation campaign linked data service that shows information that can increase the credibility of donation organizations and storytelling of donation recipients. Specifically, a user scenario of a data service that is properly operated in conjunction with a donation campaign that is broadcast shortly was defined, and a user interface was designed by reflecting the characteristics of the TV platform. In addition, a prototype based on the DVB-MHP standard was developed to analyze the effect of the data service utilization on viewers' intention to donate.

Mobile Ad-hoc Network(MANET) could be applied to various applications by virtue of its characteristics such as self-organizing and infrastructure-free network. This paper proposes a multimedia application service model for MANET, called multi-hop Relay(mRelay) system. It supports a multi-hop communication-based multimedia service interworked with Internet by using an unmanned moving robot with wireless multimedia communication function as a mRelay terminal. The modified AODV routing protocol was applied to the terminal and it was verified that composition and maintenance of mobile Ad-hoc network in mRelay system under the various indoor scenarios were successful and stable multi-hop multimedia services were possible. The mRelay system can be applicable to various application services of mobile Ad-hoc networks.

Mobile services which are applied PC performance and mobile characteristics are increased with spread of the smartphone. Recently, mobile cloud service is getting the spotlight as a solution of mobile service problems that mobile device is lack of memory, computing power and storage and mobile services are subordinate to a particular mobile device platform. However, mobile cloud service has more potential security threats by the threat inheritance of mobile service, wireless network and cloud computing service. Therefore, security threats of mobile cloud service has to be removed in order to deploy secure mobile cloud services and user and manager should be able to respond appropriately in the event of threat. In this paper, We define mobile cloud service threats by threat analysis of mobile device, wireless network and cloud computing and we propose mobile cloud service countermeasures in order to respond mobile cloud service threats and threat scenarios in order to respond and predict to potential mobile cloud service threats.

Currently, the consumption process of Medical Marijuana is complicated, so it is necessary to provide patient-centered services. This study defined the consumption process of Medical Marijuana as three steps and five procedures for the user-centered consumption process direction study, and created a consumption journey map through user interviews with experience of purchasing Medical Marijuana to find the pain point in the consumption process. Then, based on the case studies of the United States and Canada, three scenarios applicable to Korea were presented according to the scope of implementation. It is meaningful that it is a user-centered study based on the experience of Medical Marijuana consumers and it is expected to be used as reference data in improving the consumption process in the future.

When using Medical Information Retrieval services, a typical retrieval method is to use the Anatomic Therapyutic Chemical Classification (ATC) code. Traditional ATC code-based medical information retrieval is very useful for single ingredient product retrieval with single ingredient. However, in the case of complex, retrieval errors often occur. The cause of this problem is that ATC code-based retrieval proceeds by pattern matching ATC code.In this work, we design the mapping scheme based on ATC code by analyzing the requirement scenarios for retrieval based on main ingredient in ATC code-based retrieval. the mapping scheme based on ATC is a schema that stores the ATC code of the complex and all the ATC code of the single agent included in the complex. ATC code-based retrieval using this schema retrieves a complex as ingredient of a single ingredient product, thus having higher accuracy than existing methods. the mapping scheme based on ATC is expected to increase the efficiency of doctors' prescription of patients and increase the accuracy of drug safety use services.
