This paper analyzes the meaning of sustainability in sustainable development in the ecological ethics, and suggests the importance of ecological sustainability. In the discussion of ecological sustainability the relation between sustainability and change should be regarded as not conflictual but interactive. The concept 'ecological' in this context means network, and the concept 'sustainability' means the relationship between changing being(or beings) which constitutes ecological system and its unchanging being(or whole relation). So there are two axes of human and ecological system, and three elements namely network which means mutual dependence of human and nature, sustainability which means the maintenance of ecological relations, and responsibility which humans should take for the sustainability, in the ecological sustainability. The maintenance between being and relations of beings, changing sustainability, the priority of being to non-being, mutual interdependence on the basis of solidarity of beings are important values in the ecological sustainability.

To evaluate the sustainability assessment of eco-tourism resources, the assessment of Upo wetland was conducted by defining mathematical assessment models, by developing assessment indicators and by calculating the weight of main factors affecting on the sustainability through questionnaires analysis of 135 eco-tourism experts group. After that, the current sustainability grade level for Upo wetland was confirmed, and grade-level enhancement measures on each items were proposed. Although, this paper was focused on Upo wetland, but it is meaningful to prepare for the foundation in the sense of assessing scientifically and systematically the sustainability by providing concrete research model and method for the sustainability assessment of eco-tourism resources.

본 연구는 오늘날 범지구적 차원에서 심각한 수준에 있는 생태계 파괴에 대한 사회학적 함의를 정립하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 생태계의 개념과 구조를 살펴보고, 다음으로 인간활동으로 인한 생태계 파괴의 메커니즘을 분석하고, 마지막으로 그 메커니즘에 기초하여 생태계 파괴에 대한 사회학적 함의를 정립하였다. 생태계로서의 자연은 인간 없이 존재할 수 있지만 인간은 자연 없이는 생존할 수 없다. 따라서 생계위기는 곧 인간의 위기다. 그럼에도 불구하고 18세기 산업혁명 이후 풍요성과 편리성 추구를 위한 인간의 활동 결과 지구는 점용환경용량을 2.5배 초과되었다. 이것은 인간이 범한 모순이다. 이 모순을 해결하면서 사회발전을 추진하자는 이념으로 1987년 지속가능발전이 제창되었고, 지속가능발전은 1990년대 중반에 지속가능사회로 대치되었고, 2000년대에 와서는 지속가능사회가 생태적 근대화로 대체되었다. 18세기 산업혁명 이후 풍요성과 편리성 증대를 위한 인간의 활동으로 생태계가 파괴되기 시작한 후, 생태계를 보전하면서 사회발전을 추진하자는 생태적 근대화 이념이 출현까지의 역사적 과정은 정(正)-반(反)-합(合)의 변증법 과정으로 이론화될 수 있다. 산업혁명 이전의 농업사회 때는 인간의 활동이 점용환경용량 범위 안에서 이루어졌기 때문에 환경문제가 없었다. 이 시대는 생태적 지속가능성이 유지되었기 때문에 생태적 합(合)의 상태라고 할 수 있다. 산업혁명 이후 인간의 활동이 생태계의 점용환경용량을 초월시킨 것은 생태계에 반(反)이 작용한 것이다. 따라서 범지구적 차원에서 환경문제의 심각성을 인식하고 지속가능발전을 위한 정책이 도입되기 이전까지 생태계는 정(正)과 반(反)이 대립상태에서 공존하였다. 1990년대 이후 생태적 지속가능성을 위한 각종 지속가능발전정책의 도입은 정(正)과 반(反)의 대립을 통해 다시 생태학적 합(合)의 상태를 지향하는 과정이라고 할 수 있다.

Ecotourism, which is attracting attention as a method of sustainable tourism, is a tourism that aims to preserve the environment of the tourist area, to improve the participation and welfare of residents in the tourist area, and to improve the tourism experience and education. Ecotourism is a field that is developing at a faster rate than other areas of tourism. With the pace of growth, ecotourism faces new challenges for sustainability. This study focused on institutional sustainability in addition to economic, socio - cultural and environmental sustainability to assess the sustainability of ecotourism destinations. The results of this study confirm that institutional sustainability should be given priority for sustainability of ecotourism. Examples include the designation of protected areas, the establishment of ecotourism management entities, the regular investigation and research of academic purposes, the management of tourist visits and tourist information, the cooperation and participation of local residents, and the activities of commentators and managers. The attractiveness of ecological resources was also influenced by the access of tourists and the influence of local residents. Therefore, careful attention should be paid to the approach of tourists and the use of land by local residents in ecotourism. In the future, the operation of the visitor center, the professional education and mission of the interpreters' ecological resources, and the training and guidance of tourists by interpreters will be very helpful for the sustainability of the ecotourism destination.

The purpose of this study is to prepare a plan for the development of an ecological audit program that can be applied to the elementary school curriculum for sustainability education. School ecological audits enable students or groups of students to identify and solve the school's environmental problems on their own, thereby fostering sustainable decision-making and attitudes. As a result of the study through literature research, an ecological audit project learning program applicable to the elementary school curriculum was developed. The developed program is aimed at 6th graders and is composed of 16 steps reflecting the procedural and ecological processes of the ecological audit. In order to settle the developed program in the school site and improve the school sustainability of the developed program, it is necessary to introduce a school environment management system that can periodically monitor the school environment, strengthen the capacity of school teachers, and provide a professional certification system outside the school. In addition, with this bottom-up policy-making system, students can expect to spread a sustainable school culture through environmental education activities.

Nowadays, in the context of growing environmental consciousness and tourism industry, 'eco-tourism' has been expanding rapidly worldwide, and it is viewed as the strategy of regional development. Ecotourism is also perceived potential as an effective tool for sustainable development. However, when poorly planned and implemented an ecotourism project, it can quickly turn economic gains into social and environmental disasters. The purpose of this study is to develop standard sets of indicators to measure sustainable ecotourism, and to evaluate ecotourism sustainability practically. This study applies the indicators sets to the ecotourism through the case studies of 10 Korean ecotourism sites. Using the indicators sets, the levels and characteristics of the sustainability of 10 eco-tour sites were measured and evaluated, which makes it possible to monitor sustainable ecotourism in the future. After setting weights among domains differently, the results of the sensitivity analysis showed that the rank changes of the eco-tourism sustainability was very small, implying that the problem of weights setting among each domain will not be critical. Base on the empirical analysis, this study suggests the application of sustainability indicator sets of eco-tourism in the normative, analytic, practical aspects.

This research proposes a new approach to measure corporate contributions to sustainability called Sustainable Value. With some global corporations which recognize the seriousness of environmental crisis and their social responsibility, enterprises are positively accepting the sustainable management. Also, publication of the sustainability report is proliferating which is showing the enterprise's strategy, activity, result and influence in environmental, economic, social cases to the stakeholder. However, to settle and proliferate this current, it rests with how to evaluate enterprises sustainability in reasonable and reliable figure. In this context, what introduced and taking effects are sustainability report evaluation and awarding system. But the quality of sun stainability report and its content's depth and the evaluation of enterprise's sustainability itself should be distinguished. Because the enterprise which published excellent graded sustainability report is not always the enterprise that is sustainable. Then, how could we prove the result of enterprise's sustainable management based on sustainability report? This paper is to find the answer and to utilize it based on sustainability report, particularly sustainable value model as the central figure.

A sustainable evaluation and planning method shall have an integrative methodology for analysis of interrelationship among environmental resource uses and natural conditions during the planning process. However, there are few methods for understanding or achieving sustainable planning in residential development projects for most planner/architects. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate theories of the concept of environmental carrying capacity based on the ecological view, to propose a sustainable planning method for evaluation and planning of environmental sustainability in residential development projects, to analyze interrelationship of selected environmental resources to represent an environmental carrying capacity for a residential development project based on the proposed sustainable planning method. Finally, through the case studies of a high-density housing project located near Seoul Metropolitan area, the existing case and a sustainable case were analysed by the proposed method.

A fundamental understanding of "sustainable development" is generally related to a triptych of social justice, ecological integrity, and economic well-being. It aims at a development of human societies that would achieve the reconciliation of social justice, ecological integrity, and the well-being of all living systems an the planet. Furthermore, the quest for "sustainable development" focuses on economic, ecological, and social dimensions. interdependence of culture and sustainable development. The original syntax was not quite standard English, i.e., it was also unclear and vague. Ergo, this is a hypothetical edit. If you demur, then please rectify it. In Germany, th "Tutzinger Manifest" also includes the cultural dimension as a major dimension of sustainability, thereby arguing for the integration of culture in strategies for sustainability; and furthermore for the building of networks in order to overcome this gap. The cultural dimension of sustainability in Germany involves not only cultural policy, but also culture management.

Since the late 20th century, sustainability is one of the most pressing concerns for the security and well-being of our society when we are witnessing the rapid change in urban landscape patterns. Responding to this issue, the discipline of environmental designs including landscape architecture has also attempted to realize this concept in various ways. The purpose of this study lies in introducing and redefining the meaning of ecological aesthetics as an alternative "sustainable" design theory. This paper theoretically discusses about the role of aesthetics in landscape design and the relationship between landscape and aesthetics to emphasize the importance of ecological aesthetics. Based on extensive literature review and analysis, the study attempts to redefine the characteristics of ecological aesthetics: an emphasis on cognitive process in landscape appreciation, environmentalism, unrestricted from style, and nonnative aesthetics. Having defined the characteristics, this study also finds several design subjects to adapt the concept of ecological aesthetics to actual design practice. Founded on the big idea "make nature visible", the defined subjects are ecological functions, temporality of landscape, and history of landscape, security, and accessibility. Also, this study stresses the importance m the creativity of the design(er) in order to effectively represent these subjects to the public.
