User Needs Analysis for Intelligent Jacket Design (지능형 자켓 디자인을 위한 사용자 요구 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 사용자 중심의 지능형 자켓을 디자인하고 평가하는 인구의 첫 단계로 사용자 요구 분석을 실시하였다. 인지 지능형 자켓에 대한 사용자들의 태도 및 요구를 파악하는 사용자 그룹 인터뷰가 실시되었다. 인터뷰 참가자 집단은 도전감(challenge)을 준거로 신기술을 받아들이는 태도에 따라 얼리어댑터(early adaptor)와 래가드(laggard)로 나뉘어 졌으며 각각의 그룹에서 중요하게 생각하는 지능형 자켓의 중요 요소는 서로 다르게 나타났다. 얼리 어댑터의 경우 컴퓨터의 연장선상에서 기능적 요소를 중요하게 생각하였고, 래가드의 경우 옷의 연장선상에서 심미성과 즐거움의 요소를 보다 더 중요하게 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 지능형 자켓의 초기 디자인 컨셉 방향은 얼리 어댑터와 래가드가 요구하는 각각의 요소에 대응하는 주제로 건강과 오락을 선정한 후, 이 주제에 맞는 구체적인 어플리케이션 아이디어를 사용자 인터뷰 및 아이디어 서술을 통해 수집하였다. 건강과 관련해서는 사람의 생체신호를 체크하는 기능이 운동복 및 잠옷의 결합된 형태로, 오락의 관련해서는 사람의 동작이나 자세를 교정하는 기능이 운동복 및 잠옷과 결합된 형태로 디자인된 지능형 자켓에 대한 요구가 수집되었다.

  • 현재의 자동차는 운전자에게 안정성과 편의성을 제공하기 위해서, 자동차 중심의 인터페이스를 넘어 인간 중심의 인간-차량 인터페이스로 발전함에 따라서 차량의 전체 시스템 설계에 영향을 미치는 새로운 양방향 인터페이스를 필요로 하고 있다. 운전자가 운전함에 있어 사용하고 있는 운전자의 음성, 신체 동작, 생체 신호와 차량의 주행 상태에 대한 종합적이고 체계적으로 관리가 기반이 되는 통합 모델을 통해서 지능화, 복합 체계화된 지능형 자동차를 효율적으로 구현할 수 있는 인간-차량 인터페이스를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the quantitative Evaluation of Spasticity Implementing Pendulum Test (진자실험을 통한 경직의 정량적 평가에 관한 연구)

  • An accurate quantitative biomechanical evaluation for the spasticity caused by the disorder of central nervous system was made in this study. A sudden leg dropper was designed to generate objective testing environment at every trial. 3-dimensional motion analysis system(Elite. B.T.S. Italy) was used to measure kinematic data which were angle. and angular velocity of a lower limb. A program was developed to analyze the kinematic data of lower limb motion. and dynamic EMG data at the same time. To evaluate spasticity quantitatively. total 26 parameters including 14 parameters newly driven were analyzed, and statistical analysis were made for bilateral correlations. Results showed possibility to make accurate quantitative and objective evaluation for spasticity with various new parameters using new devices and program.

Human-Computer Interface using sEMG according to the Number of Electrodes (전극 개수에 따른 근전도 기반 휴먼-컴퓨터 인터페이스의 정확도에 대한 연구)

  • NUI (Natural User Interface) system interprets the user's natural movement or the signals from human body to the machine. sEMG (surface electromyogram) can be observed when there is any effort in muscle even without actual movement, which is impossible with camera and accelerometer based NUI system. In sEMG based movement recognition system, the minimal number of electrodes is preferred to minimize the inconvenience. We analyzed the decrease in recognition accuracy as decreasing the number of electrodes. For the four kinds of movement intention without movement, extension (up), flexion (down), abduction (right), and adduction (left), the multilayer perceptron classifier was used with the features of RMS (Root Mean Square) from sEMG. The classification accuracy was 91.9% in four channels, 87.0% in three channels, and 78.9% in two channels. To increase the accuracy in two channels of sEMG, RMSs from previous time epoch (50-200 ms) were used in addition. With the RMSs from 150 ms, the accuracy was increased from 78.9% to 83.6%. The decrease in accuracy with minimal number of electrodes could be compensated partly by utilizing more features in previous RMSs.

  • The importance of the robots has emerged as the means of minimizing the casualties in the future war, and, thus, the biomimetic robots mimicking the optimized organisms has been actively studied. The robot inspired lizard is suitable for reconnaissance and the surveillance in narrow areas. In this paper, we analyzed the locomotion of a lizard by motion capture system using the infrared markers. We attached 21 markers to the joints of the lizard. By considering the measured data, we analyzed the walking motion of the lizard which trots in a sprawled posture. Moreover, we proposed the 25 dof kinematic model which was able to reproduce the gait of the lizard faithfully. The model was verified by simulations.

  • In this paper, we proposed the implementation of software-based 2D BitBLT engine on the pSOS operating system and the operation of the BitBLT engine on patient monitoring device was verified. To verify the proposed method on the patient monitoring device, we designed prototype PCB board, and verified the operation. We designed the motherboard by using ARM9-based CPU. Because hardware-based BitBLT module was replaced with software-based one, CPU load problem was weighted. To solve this problem, w changed 400Mhz processor instead of 200Mhz processor. We implemented 2D BitBLT kernel module as a device driver which is one of the key elements of a graphics controller GUI in patient monitoring device.

  • The implantable middle ear(IME) system, which has good sound quality. superior sound intelligibility and wide frequency characteristics. can resolve the sound distortion and ringing effect by sound feedback at high gain operation those are the major problems of conventional hearing aid. In this paper, we have manufactured the IME system using differential electromagnetic transducer(DET) and verified the performance of the system by carrying out vibration and animal implanting experiment. The DET was manufactured using micro-machining technology and vibration experiment of the transducer was performed to inspect whether the transducer could vibrate in accordance with the applied sound signal or not. And the result of the loaded experiment using temporal bone sampled from cadaver showed that the transducer can drive the middle ear bone and transmit the signal to inner ear After the internal unit of IME system was implanted in a dog. the auditory brainstem response (ABR) test was carried out. The result of the test indicated the Proper behavior of the IME system in the living body From the results of the experiments, it is verified that the manufactured system ewll work well when it is applied to human and a basis of clinical experiment of IME system to real human hearing impaired was be arranged.

  • This paper considerated about exact flow volume calculation method from factors having an influence on measurement and introduced in anesthesia ventilator realized spirometry system. System used differential pressure sensing method with factors, that is temperature, pressure, gas density, humidity and mucus etc. System optimized for low power system for mobile system. System composed analog interface part, signal processing part, display part. Analog interface part have differential pressure flow sensor and defferential pressure sensor. Signal processing part have AVR processor for low power system display part use serial port (RS232, SPT). so it display at pc monitor or send to anesthesia ventilator. System is stable by linearizing 2th characteristics of flow-differential pressure, auto correction of sensor. Noise reduced by algorithm with analog filter and digital processing. Small, light, low power system is good at mobile system and applied to patient in emergency or mobile. and, System is useful at anesthesia ventilator by using flow sensor.

  • BCI technology is to control communication systems or machines by brain signal among biological signals followed by signal processing. For the implementation of BCI systems, it is required that the characteristics of brain signal are learned and analyzed in real-time and the learned characteristics are applied. In this paper, we detect feature vector of EEG signal on left and right hand movements based on incremental approach and dimension reduction using the detected feature vector. In addition, we show that the reduced dimension can improve the classification performance by removing unnecessary features. The processed data including sufficient features of input data can reduce the time of processing and boost performance of classification by removing unwanted features. Our experiments using K-NN classifier show the proposed approach 5% outperforms the PCA based dimension reduction.

Design of Low Power 4th order ΣΔ Modulator with Single Reconfigurable Amplifier (재구성가능 연산증폭기를 사용한 저전력 4차 델타-시그마 변조기 설계)

  • In this paper, a low power 4th order delta-sigma modulator was designed with a high resolution of 12 bits or more for the biological signal processing. Using time-interleaving technique, 4th order delta-sigma modulator was designed with one operational amplifier. So power consumption can be reduced to 1/4 than a conventional structure. To operate stably in the big difference between the two capacitor for kT/C noise and chip size, the variable-stage amplifier was designed. In the first phase and second phase, the operational amplifier is operating in a 2-stage. In the third and fourth phase, the operational amplifier is operating in a 1-stage. This was significantly improved the stability of the modulator because the phase margin exists within 60~90deg. The proposed delta-sigma modulator is designed in a standard $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS n-well 1 poly 6 Metal technology and dissipates the power of $354{\mu}W$ with supply voltage of 1.8V. The ENOB of 11.8bit and SNDR of 72.8dB at 250Hz input frequency and 256kHz sampling frequency. From measurement results FOM1 is calculated to 49.6pJ/step and FOM2 is calculated to 154.5dB.
