  • Due to the development of endoscopic technology, endoscopic diagnosis and procedures have been actively performed. However, due to the increase in colorectal cancer and the effect of government's early cancer screening project, the number of endoscopic diagnosis and procedures has increased, thus medical accidents such as perforation and bleeding are increasing. Therefore, efforts to reduce such medical accidents are needed. In this paper, we propose a method to provide the direction information of the endoscope and the force applied to the probe in real time. We also propose and evaluate an interpolated complementary filter considering the very slow movement of the endoscope probe. The proposed interpolated complementary filter showed 34.6% and 27.6% performance improvement. The expected user interface for applying the proposed method to the endoscopic system is also presented. This shows that the proposed method is applicable to endoscopy system.

  • Recent studies on ankle-foot prostheses used for transtibial amputees have focused on the adaptation of the ankle angle of the prosthesis according to ground conditions. For adaptation to various ground conditions (e.g., incline, decline, and step conditions), ankle-foot prostheses should first recognize the ground conditions as well as the current human motion pattern. For this purpose, the ground reaction forces and orientation angle of the tibia provide fundamental information. The measurement of the orientation angle, however, creates a challenge in practice. Although various sensors, such as accelerometers and gyroscopes, can be utilized to measure the orientation angles of the prosthesis, none of these sensors can be solely used due to their intrinsic drawbacks. In this paper, a time-varying complementary filtering (TVCF) method is proposed to incorporate the measurements from an accelerometer and a gyroscope to obtain a precise orientation angle. The cut-off frequency of TVCF is adaptively determined according to the human gait phase detected by a fuzzy logic algorithm. The performance of the proposed method is verified through experiments.

  • In this paper, a continuous-time filter for low voltage and high frequency applications using fully-balanced current integrators is presented. As the balanced structure of integrator circuits, the designed filter has improved noise characteristics and wide dynamic range since even-order harmonics are cancelled and the input signal range is doubled. Using complementary current mirrors, bias circuits are simplified and the cutoff frequency of filters can be controlled easily by a single DC bias current. As a design example, the 3rd-order lowpass Butterworth filter with a leapfrog realization is designed. The designed fully-balanced current-mode filter is simulated and examined by SPICE using 0.65${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS n-well process parameters. The simulation results show 50MHz cutoff frequency, 69㏈ dynamic range with 1% total harmonic distortion(THD), and 4㎽ power dissipation with a 3V supply voltage.

  • In this paper, the design of a current integrator for low-voltage, low-power, and high frequency applications using complementary high swing cascode current-mirror is presented. The proposed integrator decreases output current errors due to non-zero input resistance and non-infinite output resistance of the simple current integrator. As a design example, the 3rd order Butterworth lowpass filter is designed by a leapfrog method. Also, we apply the predistortion design method to reduce the magnitude distortion which occurs at a cutoff frequency by the undesirable phase shift of a lossless current integrator. The designed current-mode filter is simulated and examined by SPICE using 0.8$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS n-well process parameters. The simulation results show 20MHz cutoff frequency and 615㎼ power dissipation with a 2V power supply. And the cutoff frequency of the filters can be easily changed by the DC bias current.

  • In this paper, a new CMOS current-mode integrator is proposed that can apply the basic building block of the low-voltage high frequency current-mode active filter. And tuning circuits that control the gain and unity gain frequency of them is designed. The proposed integrator is composed of the CMOS complementary circuit which can extend transconductance of an integrator. Therefore, the unity gain frequency which is determined transconductance and MOSFET gate capacitance can be expanded by the proposed integrator. The unity gain frequency of the proposed integrator is increased about two times larger than that of the conventional continuous-time integrator with NMOS-gm. And also, cut-off frequency and gain of the active filter can be controlled with the designed tuning circuit. From the result, we can reduce errors on fabrication. And then, 3rd-order low-pass active filter is designed as an application circuits. These results are verified by the small signal analysis and the 0.8$\mu\textrm{m}$ parameter HSPICE simulation.

  • This paper proposes a low-voltage current-mode integrator for a continuous-time current-mode baseband channel selection filter. The low-voltage current-mode linear cascode integrator is introduced to offer advantages of high current gain and improved unity-gain frequency. The proposed current-mode integrator has fully differential input and output structure consisting of CMOS complementary circuit. Additional cascode transistors which are operated in linear region are inserted for bias to achieve the low-voltage feature. Frequency range is also controllable by selecting proper bias voltage. From simulation results, it can be noticed that the implemented integrator achieves design specification such as low-voltage operation, current gain, and unity gain frequency.

  • In this paper, a design of current-mode continuous-time filters for low voltage and high frequency applictions using complementary bipolar current mirror paris is presented. The proposed current-mode filters consist of simple bipolar current mirrors and capacitors and are quite suitable for monolithic integrtion. Since the design method of the proposed curent-mode filters is based on the integrator type of realization, it can be used for a wide range of applications. And the cutoff frequency of th efilters can be easily changed by the DC cntrolling current. As design examples, the 5th order butterworth filters are designed by cascade and leapfrog methods with tunable cutoff frequencies from 30MHz to 100MHz. The characteristics of the designed current mode filters are simulated and examined by SPICE using standard bipolar transistor parameters.

  • Geomagnetic sensors are widely utilized for sensing heading direction of quadrotors. However, measurement from a geomagnetic sensor is easily corrupted by environmental magnetic field interference and roll/pitch directional motion. In this paper, a measurement method of a quadrotor heading direction is proposed for application to yaw attitude control. In order to eliminate roll/pitch directional motion effect, the geomagnetic sensor data is compensated using the roll/pitch angles measured for stabilization control. In addition, yaw-directional angular velocity data from a gyroscope sensor is fused with the geomagnetic sensor data using a complementary filter which is a simple and intuitive sensor fusion method. The proposed method is applied to experiments, and the results are presented to prove validity and effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The VR / AR market has grown significantly due to the development of virtual reality and augmented reality in the core technology field of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Since VR is basically focused on space and time, and the human brain is very sensitive to temporal events, it is important to make accurate I / O interface technology, one of the virtual reality technologies, not to affect the brain's cognitive ability. VR depends on the technology of the hardware such as the display and the sensor for biometric signal recognition. In this paper, in order to prevent the sensitive brain from affecting the sensor device in consideration of hardware dependency of VR, it is necessary to make various corrections to lower the motion to photon (MTP) to 20m / s or less experiments on the method and filtering were carried out.
