  • Drawing on third to fifth wave data from the Longitudinal Study of North Korean Migrant Youths' Education, we examined the longitudinal relationship between social capital of North Korean Migrant Youths and school adjustment using latent growth modeling(LGM). Specifically, we sought to answer the following research questions: Do social capital and school adjustment among North Korean Migrant Youths change over time? Is there a relationship between the changes in social capital and school adjustment among these students? Our LGM results showed that trends in social capital and school adjustment among these students were not fixed but changed over time. While the social capital developed by these students was found to influence school adjustment at the time of its development, it did not continue to influence changes in school adjustment over time. Changes in school adjustment of North Korean migrant youths were affected by changes in social capital. These results suggest that there is room for gradual improvement of school adjustment level by strengthening social capital of North Korean migrant youths.

  • Social overhead capital(SOC) is an essential element for society to be developed and operated normally. In spite of the increase in the importance of SOC, It is difficult to present the criteria for the appropriate investment of SOC. and The discussion on making SOC investments of local government is insufficient. If the local autonomy has been guaranteed, local government increases investment in regional public goods that residents prefer. Reflection of such residents preferences is the driving force to bring the efficiency of resource allocation in the decentralization theorem. In this study, the authority and autonomy of local governments are measured through local finance. and the decision-making of local governments for SOC investment is examined in point of decentralization theorem. In the empirical analysis, the elasticities of fiscal resources are estimated for facilities(road, water and sewage, irrigation canal and flood control) that local governments are involved in investment. These decisions made by metropolitan cities and provinces were different. The difference was most evident in the effect of per capita local tax on investment. These results show that metropolitan cities and provinces that have different situation made investment decisions differently. It shows that local governments reflect the preferences of the residents in making an investment. The main implication of this study is as follow. In case the role of local government in social overhead capital investment is increased, the increase in efficiency of resource allocation occurs. and The fiscal resources must be raised by local taxes rather than the financial resources from the central government.

  • Corporate primary goal has shifted from profit-orientation toward broader socially motivated perspectives, over the recent year. According to this phenomena, extensive research have been conducted to assess the empirical association between CSR and firm value. However, the results of previous studies are largely indeterminate which are attributed to the ignoring various indeterminate variables between CSR and firm value. Specifically, the purpose of this paper verifies the empirical association between CSR and firm value with considering capital constraint as core moderator variable by using structural equation modeling(SEM). Main results of this paper are as follows. We find that firms with better CSR performance face lower capital constraint and capital constraint is significantly related to firm value in negative direction, also. The result suggest that better CSR performance is associated with superior stakeholder engagement, in turn, CSR initiatives leads to firm value creation. Also, the capital constraint still remain positive to firm value even if capital constraint is considered moderator variables. Our findings implicated that CSR literatures should consider moderator variables, such as capital constraint, which could be affected firm value.

We also examined associations between latent classes and verified to determine how the patterns of health condition relate to social capital. This study used data from Korean Survey on the Rights of Children and Youth in 2015, which consists of 6,912 from middle and high school students. The findings are as follows. Latent class analysis revealed a three-class solution. Results indicated that family social capital and school capital significantly verified to the above latent classes all family type. But, community social capital not significantly predicted to the above latent classes only single parent families. Policy implications for improving the health condition of adolescents are discussed.

  • This research categorizes the factors of digital capital accumulated both in personal and social level into digital access and digital competence, and empirically analyzes how the use of public libraries effects on the formation of digital capital. As a result, it was found that participation in public library programs, the use of information services, and the utilization of digital collections had positive effect on the formation and accumulation of digital capital at the personal and social level. In contrast, it was analyzed that the use of digital collections in public libraries did not significantly affect the creation of digital contents or reciprocal collaboration based on online networks. Therefore, in order for public libraries to fully support the formation of digital capital, they should not only provide knowledge and information which is a traditional role of public libraries, but also play a role as a digital-based cooperative system.

  • The purpose of this research is to secure the foundational data for analyzing the mediating role of social capital from the influences of the feeling of self-efficacy of the elderly on the preparations for the old age. The subjects of this study were 518 questionnaires collected from March 20 to April 1, 2016 for the elderly over 60 years old who were living in S city. Regarding the data, the SPSS 20.0 and the AMOS 20.0 were used. And, the results of this research were the following: First, if we take a look at the influences of the feeling of self-efficacy on social capital, the feeling of self-efficacy has the positive influences. And, second, the influences of the feeling of self-efficacy on the preparations for the old age, also, are positive. Third, the influences of the social capital on the preparations for the old age, too, are positive. As such, we can find out that both the direct and indirect effects were shown. Lastly, we can find out that the feeling of self-efficacy has the partial mediating effects on the social capital and the preparations for the old age. Consequently, although the feeling of self-efficacy is insufficient with regard to the economic preparations, we can positively find out that it was able to effectively derive the satisfaction in life by utilizing the social capital. In preparation for the super-aged society, the improvements and the expansions of the social programs and the services resulting from them are needed through the establishment of a foundation regarding the life-periodical, social participation, the establishment of a socially-shared system that can be continued, and the policy of strengthening the social capital.

  • Companies are recently emphasizing social capital that is formed by the network and trust among organization members to secure continuous competitive edge. Social capital induces the members' adaptation and immersion through the interactions with multidimensional factors within an organization, and contributes to increasing an organization's performance by causing cooperative behaviors as a passage of communications and participation. This study analyzed the influence of social capital and organizational support recognition formed in an organization on the turnover intention, and examined the moderating effect of organizational support recognition in the relationship between social capital and turnover intention. To achieve the purpose, this research conducted a survey on small and medium sized manufacturing companies in Busan and Gyeongnam and performed an empirical analysis using hierarchical regression analysis. According to the empirical analysis, the structural and relational dimensions of social capital had a negative (-) influence on the turnover intention. Especially, the relational dimension had a huge influence on the turnover intention, showing that it is important to form trust among an organization's members through their interactions. Second, organizational support recognition also had a negative (-) influence on the turnover intention, demonstrating that attention and complete support at an organizational dimension were needed for individual members. Third, organizational support recognition appeared to mediate the relationship between social capital and the turnover intention. The higher the organizational support recognition was, the lower the negative (-) influence of the relational dimension of social capital on the turnover intention was. Based on these results, this paper discussed the theoretical and practical implications of this research as well as future assignments.
