The purpose of this study is to econometrically analyze the negative impact of the May 18 Democratic Uprising on the Gwangju/Jeonnam regionional economy using the Synthetic Control Method (SCM). The SCM SCM is a methodology similar to the difference-in-difference(DID) method of microeconometrics. It is applied to macroeconomic variables such as country, region, etc. to estimate the causal relationship between specific events and the dependent variable. In this study, as of 1980, local tax revenue data of metropolitan local governments were used as a proxy variable for the economy of the region, and the impact of the May 18 Democratic Uprising on the economy of Gwangju/Jeonnam region was analyzed through various socio-economic indicators. In this study, data were used to analyze from 1971 to 2000, and as a result of empirical analysis, local tax revenues in Gwangju/Jeonnam area were less collected than normal routes up to 17%. In addition, the significance of this analysis was confirmed through in-time placebo effect analysis and in-space placebo effect analysis, which are methods of analyzing the robustness of the control group synthesis method.
This study explores the changes and implications of identity in social work profession following the introduction of voucher in Korea. For this purpose, it was conducted qualitative research using depth-interview. It was sampled 20 social workers who delivers social services by voucher. The data were analyzed by Glaser and Strauss's coding methods(open coding and axial coding) and thematic analysis. The results of research are follow: 1) The introduction of voucher in social work practice resulted in identity confusion in social work profession 2) Role of social workers(practicing by voucher) was changed into mediator and manager. 3) The relationship between clients and social workers was changed into business centered relationship. 4) The increase of bureaucratic control and mechanism of profit-making resulted in these changes. As a result of this process, autonomy of social workers was decreased. 5) These changes in social work profession can be interpreted as reconstruction of social work practice, increase in repression of managerialism, and establishment of quasi-marketing structure in social work practice.
This study aimed to explore factors which can predict interpersonal tolerance and intolerance. Specifically, the study examined whether tolerance and intolerance would be explained by demographic variables, social desirability, empathy (cognitive empathy and affective empathy), fear of compassion for others, social trust, and zero-sum belief. Participants in the study were 445 adults (218 males and 227 females) who completed an online survey. Data were analyzed by using hierarchical regression analyses to control the effects of demographic variables and social desirability. The results indicated that tolerance was explained by gender, subjective socioeconomic status, social desirability, cognitive empathy, and social trust. In addition, intolerance was predicted by social desirability, fears of compassion for others, and zero-sum belief. It means that the constructs of tolerance and intolerance are distinct, and different factors predict tolerance and intolerance, respectively. Therefore, it would be necessary to develop realistic ways to promote tolerance and to prevent intolerance at the same time in order to achieve co-existence in a multicultural and diverse society.

The purpose of this study is to identify the moderating effect of social support between daily life stress and suicidal ideation of North Korean refugee women in South Korea. We survey with self-report questionnaires for 156 refugee women, conduct descriptive and regression analysis. As results, (1) almost half of the surveyed experience suicidal ideation in a year, (2) daily life stress affects suicidal ideation controlling with depression, PTSD, alcohol use, income, and age, (3) social support which North Korea refugee women perceive buffers the relationship between life stress and suicidal ideation. From these results, implications are suggested. Gender cognitive policies are needed in North Korea refugees in South Korea. Also, community mental health services and sustainable community program for North Korea refugee women are important to prevent their suicidal attempts.

The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of youth group activities experience to sociality development of middle school student. To achieve above study purpose, the subject of this study was selected 280 from middle school second-grade students(youth group activities participants 140, non-participants 140). Experience based activities were applied to the experimental group over 80 hours per year and the pre-post test was conducted using the sociality development inventory. The results of the data were analyzed by t-test using the SPSS(ver 18.0) program. The results were as follows: First, In the aspect of sociality development by youth group activities, the student participant showed somewhat significant differences compared to the non-participants. Second, considering the activity periods, the students with more than two-year experiences showed higher results than the ones with just one-year experiences. These results represent that various programs, which can develop the sociality, can be provided for youth when they join any group of activities in general and those programs are also very effective in developing the sociality of juveniles. Furthermore, It is suggested that youth group activities are a necessary element at the school education fields, which can solve the various problems caused by overemphasizing only the knowledge transfer, reinforced education of humanism and reduced school violence.

This study analyzed the factors affecting the reemployment intention of the baby boomer. To this end, an extended Model of Goal-directed Behaviors(MGB) was set as a research model. The extended MGB used in this study added economic readiness and social capital to attitudes, subjective norms, positive anticipated emotions, and perceived behavioral control variables as independent variables. The desires was set as a mediating and the reemployment intention was set as the dependent variable. The research model was empirically analyzed with 201 baby boomers. Empirical analysis showed that economic preparation had a negative effect on reemployment intention, and social capital had a positive effect on reemployment intention. Economic preparation rather than social capital was found to have a stronger impact on the intention of reemployment. Attitudes, subjective norms, positive anticipated emotions, and perceived behavioral control variables were not tested for a significant direct effect on reemployment intention. They were found to have a significant influence on reemployment intention through the mediating of desires. Based on the results of this empirical analysis, academic and practical implications were presented.

As recent inflows of foreign immigrants to relatively advanced countries in Northeast Asia have rapidly increased, Japan in particular uses 'multicultural coexistance' as a key concept for developing both discourse and policies on them. This paper is first of all to suggest a new typology of multicultural societies in the world ill order to differentiate the case of Northeast Asian countries from those of Western countries. And this paper is to suggest that foreign immigrants in Japan have different positions in labor markets and living experiences according to historical and social backgrounds as well as their nationality. The transformation process towards multicultural society is not only historical and social but also geographical and spatial, as foreign immigrants have made different spatial distribution and regional segregation in types. In order to control this socio-spatial process towards multicultural society, Japan has developed the concept of 'multicultural coexistence' similar with that of multiculturalism in Western countries. This concept seems to be quite significant as it has been initiated by local communities for symbiotic relationship between foreign immigrants and native Japanese dwellers. But it can be regarded as a strategic ideology to control foreign immigrants as it targets mainly on Nikkeijin, and is usually concerned with the cultural aspect. Seen from a theoretical point of view, this concept can be seen as closed with liberal multiculturalism as opportunity equity, but far from corporative multiculturalism as outcome equity, and it is on the process transferring from the first stage of tolerance to the second stage of legislation of nondiscrimination, while being distant from the third stage of legislation paradigmization of recognition, and hence appears to be easily reverted to assimilationism.

As the necessity of humanistic education has recently been socially emphasized, aptitude and character test has been conducted in the stage of training instructors to focus on making them equipped with proper ability of humanistic education. Especially, considering characteristics of students in specialized high schools with stronger negative concept of ego along with higher proportion of students looking for job in early ages compared to regular high schools, instructors in specialized high schools need to pay more attention on humanistic education of students compared to those in regular high schools. Therefore, this study has developed social emotion learning (SEL) of preliminary teachers in specialized high schools and analyzed the influence of developed programs on characters in teaching positions of preliminary instructors in specialized high schools. In this study, ADDIE model has been used developing SEL programs, and developed programs were comprised of total six sessions. Social emotion learning has been performed on 27 preliminary teachers in experiment group, and regular academic education courses were given on 30 preliminary teachers in control group. At this time, as for class contents, 'self-recognition' has been dealt with in the first and second sessions followed by 'self-management' in the second and third sessions, 'adjustment in relationship' in the fourth session, 'responsible decision making' in the fifth session, and 'personal relationship' in the sixth session. Classes have been conducted for 90 minutes in average. Since intentional sampling method has been used in this study, difference of pre-scores between groups might influence on the difference on post-scores. Therefore, ANCOVA that adjusted the pre-scores to be consistent has been utilized. As a result, there was a significant difference on the post-scores in characters in teaching positions between experiment group and control group.

This study was conducted to investigate the communicative intent between Reactive Attachment Disorder(RAD) and Developmental Language Disorder(DLD). The subject of this study were 20 27-51 monthold children(10 RAD Children, 10 DLD children) functioning at similar stage of language development. The communicative intent was investigated vertical and horizontal dimension. Rating of vertical communicative intent was based on the assessment scales devised by Wetherby and Prutting(1984). Horizontal dimension was measured by the assessment guidelines of Wetherby and Prizant(1989). All the data were rated by two rators independantly. 1) In communicative intent, vertical development level of DLD children was more sophiscated than that of RAD children. 2) DLD children expressed more horizontal communicative intent than RAD children. The percentage of the three major categories(behavioral regulation, social interaction, and joint attention) of communicative intent in DLD children was lined up social interaction>joint attention>behavioral regulation. On the contrary, RAD children displayed in order of behavioral regulation>social interaction>joint attention. In addition, DLD children showed diversely as compared with RAD children.
This study aims at examining how it becomes to change the interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability development of elementary rejected children when teacher practices counseling strategy in classroom To do this, 130 fifth-graders of 4 classrooms from H Elementary School in B City went through Ahn Ie-hwan's(2007) social status type system by using the peer nomination, Then, 21 children were labeled as rejected children. Among them, 16 children were divided into experimental group & control group, 8 for the each group. In order to improve the interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability of rejected children with teacher's counseling strategy in classroom used in this study, 5 weeks activity made according to the level of classroom was carried out in four sides, that is, setting of classroom structure-environments, classroom activities, counseling activities, cooperative learning method, referring to Dreikurs'(1971) 'The counseling strategy in classroom' composed of self-discipline, cooperation, mutual respect, shared responsibility, and social equality. This study obtained the following results. First, There was a significant effect in improving the interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability of rejected children. Looking into sub-factors, there was a significant effect in improving consequential thought and method-ends thought except alternative solution thought and causal thought. Second, there was a significant difference in social status & change of 5 types of children in social status in the respective classrooms when those of the experimental group where teacher's counseling strategy in classroom carried out and those of the control group where teacher's counseling strategy in classroom not carried out were compared. To conclude the results mentioned above, We can see the fact that the counseling strategy in classroom positively affected interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability.
