The purpose of this study is to verify the causal relationship between social withdrawal and peer alienation among Korean children. The survey study participants were 2,110 children in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The 5-year longitudinal data (Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey; KCYPS) of 1st grade elementary school student cohort was used. Latent Growth Modeling was applied to analyze the causality over time of social withdrawal and peer isolation. The results revealed that the trajectories of children's social withdrawal decreased over time. Children's social withdrawal showed significant individual differences in terms of initial value and rates of change. The initial value and slope of children's social withdrawal had an effect on the peer alienation in the 3rd grade; however, there was no significant effect on the peer alienation in the 5th grade.

본 연구의 목적은 청소년기의 사회적 위축과 또래관계, 그리고 우울 간에 어떠한 종단적 관계가 있는지 검증하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 한국아동 청소년패널조사(KCYPS) 중학교 1학년 2, 3차년도 자료에 대하여 자기회귀 교차지연모형을 구성하고 이에 대하여 구조방정식을 이용하여 실증적 검증을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 2차년도의 사회적 위축, 또래관계, 우울은 각각 3차년도의 동일한 변인에 대하여 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 2차년도의 또래관계는 3차년도의 사회적 위축과 우울에 모두 유의한 영향을 미치는 반면, 2차년도의 사회적 위축과 우울은 각각 3차년도의 또래관계에만 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이상에서 도출된 연구 결과에 근거하여 사회적 위축과 또래관계, 그리고 우울을 경험하고 있는 청소년들에 대한 예방 및 개입과 관련된 함의가 제시되었다.

The study aims to explain the effect of bicultural acceptance on depression of multicultural adolescents and to analyze the mediating effect of social withdrawal between two variables. To accomplish the purpose, 1,158 subjects were selected from the 8th(2018) data of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study(MAPS), and the data collected were analyzed by using Process Macro Model and Bootstrapping analysis. The major findings are as follows. First, positive bicultural acceptance attitude of multicultural adolescents was shown to decrease their social withdrawal and depression. Second, social withdrawal of multicultural adolescents affected increase of their depression. Third, the effect of bicultural acceptance on depression of multicultural adolescents was partly mediated by their social withdrawal. Based on the above findings, practical alternatives and programs to reduce depression and social withdrawal of multicultural adolescents were suggested.

본 연구는 다문화청소년패널 6차년도 데이터를 활용하여 다문화청소년의 진로장벽과 사회적위축이 성취동기를 매개로 진로결정성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 규명하고자 한다. 분석대상은 다문화청소년 1,283명이다. 주요 분석변수는 독립변수로 진로장벽, 사회적위축, 매개변수로 성취동기, 종속변수로 진로결정성을 분석할 것이다. 이러한 자료분석을 위해 SPSS 21.0을 사용할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of adolescent social withdrawal on self-esteem and life satisfaction, and to analyze the moderating effect of participation in Self-development Youth Activities. Among the data for the 3rd year of the Korea Children's and Youth Panel Survey 2018 (KCYPS. 2018), data from 2,384 first-year middle school students were used, and descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, linear regression analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were performed to test the hypothesis. First, it was analyzed that the social withdrawal had a statistically significant negative(-) effect on the self-esteem. Second, it was analyzed that the social withdrawal had a statistically significant negative(-) effect on the life satisfaction. Third, it was verified that self-development Youth Activities had a moderating effect in the relationship between social withdrawal and self-esteem. Fourth, it was verified that self-development Youth Activities had a moderating effect in the relationship between social withdrawal and life satisfaction.

This study examined the effects of mothers' rejective parenting, emotional expressivity, children's emotional regulation strategy on their social withdrawal. Participants were 223 children(121 boys, 102 girls; recruited from classes with 4-5 year olds), their mothers and 20 child care teachers. The teachers completed rating scales to measure the children's social withdrawal and emotional regulation strategies. Mothers reported their rejective parenting along with emotional expressivity. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's productive correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regressions. Results showed that mothers' rejective parenting, children's venting/support seeking strategy and avoidance/non-responsive strategy had positive relation to, whereas mother's positive expressivity were negatively related to their social withdrawal. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that the interaction of mother's rejective parenting and positive expressivity predicted children's social withdrawal. Mother's rejective parenting was associated with children's social withdrawal, especially for children with the lowest level of mother's positive expressivity. In addition, the association between mother's rejective parenting and children's social withdrawal were partially mediated by their venting/support seeking strategy.

This study aimed to examine the mediating effects of social withdrawal between adolescents' mobile phone dependence and the sense of community, and to secure the evidence data for adolescents' mobile phone dependence intervention. Among the 7th year data for the 4th grade students in the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS), 1,979 students were included. The results showed that mobile phone dependence had a significant effect on the decrease in the sense of community and influenced the sense of community through social withdrawal. These results imply that positive intervention to reduce social withdrawal is needed and it can improve the sense of community in youth. Also, when we deal with weakening in the sense of community, we should consider convergent intervention in psychological and social aspects which deal with dependency, social withdrawal, and the sense of community.

The aim of this study is to suggest the direction of psychosocial intervention by investigation. To this end, this study examined the moderating effect of peer attachment and patients' positive attitude on the relationship between social withdrawal and life satisfaction of adolescents. Data was obtained from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey, and study subjects included 2,409 first grade middle school students. Data was analyzed using the SPSS 25 program, and frequency analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. The results of the study are as follows: First, psychological withdrawal in the social relationship had a significant negative effect on the life satisfaction of adolescents. Second, peer attachment did not have a moderating effect on the relationship between social withdrawal and life satisfaction of adolescents. Third, positive parenting attitude had a moderating effect on the relationship between social withdrawal and life satisfaction of adolescents. The high-positive parenting attitude group showed less decline in life satisfaction even if social withdrawal was high compared to the low-positive parenting attitude group. Based on these results, we provide effective direction of intervention to elevate the life satisfaction of adolescents experiencing social withdrawal.

This study was conducted to investigate the structural relationship between depression, self-esteem, and social withdrawal that affect academic helplessness in adolescents. The study sample was 2,265 first-year students of high school in the fourth year (2021) data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018. In this study, data were analyzed by a structural equation model based on the partial least squares method using SmartPLS 3.0. Results indicated that depression and social withdrawal had a significant positive effect on adolescents' academic helplessness, and self-esteem had a significant negative effect. In addition, social withdrawal had a significant positive mediating effect on the relationship between depression and academic helplessness. Therefore, it is required strategies that consider the relationship between depression, self-esteem, and social withdrawal to approach adolescents' academic helplessness.

The purpose of this study was to verify the impact of maltreatment by parents on adolescents' depression, furthermore, confirm the mediating effects of social withdrawal and cell phone dependency in South Korea. The data were analyzed with frequency, correlation and structural equation modeling(SEM) by SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 20.0. Data was employed from the wave 5 in 2014 of Korean Children and Youth Panel Study (KCYPS), and analyzed data of 1,969 fourth grade elementary school students. The result showed: First, maltreatment experience from parents has a statistically significant positive effect on adolescent's depression. Second, maltreatment experience from parents has positive effects on both social withdrawal and mobile phone dependency. Third, both social withdrawal and mobile phone dependency have positive effects on adolescent's depression. Fourth, both social withdrawal and mobile phone dependency have significant mediating roles in the relationship between maltreatment experience from parents and adolescent's depression.
