  • In this study, interaction patterns in peer small-group discussions with cognitive conflict strategy (CCS) and those with social consensus strategy (SCS) were compared. Verbal interactions of four small groups (16 students) in learning science concepts were analyzed at the levels of turns, interaction units, and episodes. The frequencies of total turns and knowledge construction turns per discussion for the SCS group were higher than those for the CCS group. Comparing and evaluating hypotheses and discussion worksheets provided were especially effective in increasing metacognitive utterances of the SCS group students. The frequencies of 'most students participating mode', 'elaborative interaction mode', and 'exploratory episode' for the SCS group were higher than those for the CCS group. These suggested that more students in the SCS group participated in small-group discussions and their discussions were more interactive and elaborative. The interactions and episodes of the SCS group were also superior in quality to those of the CCS group.

  • The purpose of the study is to find creativity factors of students in the process of small group modeling and relate them to the types of interactions among students. In order to capture students' detailed interactions, this study was conducted as an 'essential case study' through qualitative analysis. We have developed the modules of nine lessons about terraforming, and they were used in an actual classroom. In order to understand the creativity of the students in the process of modeling, students' discourses and interview data were analyzed using 19 creative factors or abilities. The findings are as follows. Frequently found creativity factors are Elaboration, Evaluation, Visualization, Resist premature closer, Originality, Analysis and Concentration. And students' interactions that affect students' creativity in the process of modeling can be classified into four categories: Suggestion, Agreement, Questioning, Refutation, and Conversion. Through each interaction, students demonstrated the process of expressing and modifying their own thoughts and ideas in the modeling process. The findings of the study suggest that it is important to the teachers to understand types of interactions among students and the relationship between the types of interaction and creativity factors for students' creative modeling in modeling-based learning.

  • This study examined the relationship between social support and the subjective well-being of the elderly living in urban areas. The study subjects were 382 elderly people aged 65 or older living in D metropolitan city. The survey was conducted through a personal interview by investigators who visited the study subjects using a structured questionnaire from May 1 to June 30, 2019. As a result, the subjective well-being of the study subjects differed significantly depending on various variables in the sociodemographic, health condition and, health-related behavior characteristics. The subjective well-being according to social support was significantly lower for the groups with lower social support. The correlation of subjective well-being and social support showed a significant positive correlation. Logistic regression showed that the risk of lower subjective well-being increased significantly in the group (Q1), where the total score of social support was very high (Q4). The above results suggest that the subjective well-being of the elderly living in urban areas was not only related to various variables in sociodemographic, health condition, and health-related behavior characteristics but also has significant relationships for social support. Therefore, it is necessary to develop detailed social support practices to improve the subjective well-being.

  • This study try to analyze the effect that personal and social factors affects the interactions among science gifted students. For this, I analyze the interacting role of science gifted students in social co-construction and scientific model constructing class for phase change and rising-sinking time of moon and categorize according to type. I analyze aspects of interaction and association of each elements in the students after I understand character type self conception friendship a parents-children relationship relation with teachers derived from advanced research through questionnaire and depth interview. After analyzing, I find the following-close friendship form or not and usual school class participation appear important factors that have strong connection with the aspect of the interactions. Also, character type, self conception and relation of parents affect the interactions relatively lower. Through this study, We identify two things. Firstly, We must consider individual's inside factors for making animatedly the interaction among the students. Secondly, We get considering factors that devise the strategies for making the interaction animatedly.

  • 1989년에 NCTM에서 Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics(이하 Standards)를 발간한 이래로 수학교육은 Standards의 정신에 많은 영향을 받아왔다.

  • Interactive space became one of the major design paradigms. For elevating the interactive effect in this, we need user-centered design methodology which uses the influential factors on the interactivity. As the second paper of three-linked studies for the interactivity in the interactive space, this research analyzed the interface factors' specific attributes for supporting behavioral participation. 'Interface' is one of three main factors on the interactivity(Intersubject/Interface/Interaction). Its role in the interactive space is to induce or support user's participations which bring the interactive changes into the designs. Qualitative case analysis was the main method and 30 cases were investigated. 'Individual analysis-Transitional description-Generalization' were the progressive steps for case analysis. As final results, 17 attributes for supporting behavioral participation were analyzed.

  • This study evaluate user feedback such as physiological response and facial expression when subjects play a social decision making game with interactive virtual agent partners. In the social decision making game, subjects will invest some of money or credit in one of projects. Their partners (virtual agents) will also invest in one of the projects. They will interact with different kinds of virtual agents which behave reciprocated or unreciprocated behavior while expressing socially affective facial expression. The total money or credit which the subject earns is contingent on partner's choice. From this study, I observed that subject's appraisal of interaction with cooperative/uncooperative (or friendly/unfriendly) virtual agents in an investment game result in increased autonomic and somatic response, and that these responses were observed by physiological signal and facial expression in real time. For assessing user feedback, Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor, Galvanic skin response (GSR) sensor while capturing front facial image of the subject from web camera were used. After all trials, subjects asked to answer to questions associated with evaluation how much these interaction with virtual agents affect to their appraisals.
