Purpose - This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the social activity of the elderly and recognition of family cohesion of the elderly who are exposed to the current aging society. In addition, the study has delved into the method of family cohesion improvement through the differences between groups based on the mediator effect of how the results have effects on the elderly's self-control capabilities. Research design, data, and methodology - This study has targeted the elderly who are attending the elderly university among users in seven community centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do area. The study has also conducted a survey by the format of a half-structured questionnaire. It is aiming to investigate the elderly's family cohesion with children and their self-control capability, and understand their satisfaction of social activity to help successful elderly life. The study has suggested the following as mentioned. First, the study analyzed that the perceptual factor of family cohesion with children would be deducted based on advanced researches. Second, the influencing relationship would be analyzed through the relational analysis between the elderly's family cohesion and social activity. Results - The family cohesion with children has a significant effect on psychological happiness and it showed the influencing relationship with improvement of the elderly's self-control capability. Therefore, creating fellowship through meaningful conversation with children would be needed. In addition, various programs and consultant service would be offered to build healthy relationship between aged parents and their children. Through this, the elderly will be able to have not only better relationships with their family, but also increased psychological health and well-being as well. Conclusions - It is needed that not only supporting policies for children who take care of aged parents but also that the elderly who need long-term care could meet their children whenever they want through increased numbers of sanatoriums operated by cities and countries. In addition, the nation would offer financial and administrative support continuously so that people receive the benefits from sanatoriums located in the locality of children's residence beyond the elderly's residence. Moreover, social infra would be established as well.

This research aims to analyze the effects of stress management and family cohesion on middle-aged women. Research subjects were 322 middle-aged women living in cities K and Y ranging between 40-60 years of age. A frequency analysis, reliability analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were carried out utilizing the SPSS 18.0 statistics program. Firstly, results showed that the most frequently shown subjects were between 40-49 years old (59.3%), married (82.7%, 267), high school graduates or less (63.2%, 204), and practiced religion (77.6%, 250). Secondly, stress management, family cohesion, and happiness were the most frequent answers in this order. Thirdly, stress management, family cohesion, and happiness all showed to have a positive correlation. Fourthly, family cohesion had no effect on happiness. Meanwhile, stress management had the biggest effect on happiness with an explanation rate of 28.2%. The implications of this research are expected to be used as base line data for future social welfare programs for the improvement of middle-aged women's happiness.
This study investigated how general blended learning strategies and flipped-learning instructional strategy affect college students' social presence and group cohesion. The main results of this study were summarized as follows. First, the group of flipped-learning instructional strategy was more effective in college students' social presence than general blended learning. Second, it was found that groups using flipped-learning instruction strategy had more positive effects on improving group cohesion among college students than those using the general blended learning instructional strategy. The results of this study can influence the identification and verification of the main components to be considered when using flipped-learning instruction strategy in blended learning environment. This study examined the effect of the perception of age-friendly environment on perceived social bonding. In particular, this study focused on the mediating effects of perception of age-integration between perception of age-friendly environment and perceived social bonding. The data were analyzed using the '2017 Ages Integration Survey' conducted by the Korea Research Foundation(SSK). A total of 997 adults from 20 to 86 ears of age were participated in this study. The perception of age-friendly environment was measured using the age-friendly city guidelines set out by WHO and perception of age-integration was measured using questions that asked about age flexibility and age diversity. Also, the social capital scale was used to measure perception of social bonding. In order to increase the reliability of the analysis results, age, gender, educational achievement and residential area were controlled. Structural Equation Modeling approach was employed to answer the research questions. The results are following. First, perception of age-friendly environment was significantly associated with perceived social bonding in a positive direction, controlling for age, gender, educational achievement and residential area. Second, perception of age-integration partially mediated the relationship between perception age-friendly environment and perceived social bonding controlling for covariates. Based on these findings, this study proposes political and practical intervention strategies to promote age-friendly environment and age-integration.

Objectives:This study was done as a part of investigating individual and socioenvironmental factors affecting test anxiety in adolescent. The focusing of this study was detecting specific family enviromental factors affecting worry and emotionality of test anxiety. Methods:The subjects of this study were 880 middle and high school students in Seoul, Korea. To evaluate test anxiety level, Spielberger's Test Anxiety Inventory was applied and to evaluate familial factor, Moos and Moos' Family Environmental Scale was done. Results:The results were as follows. 1) Total and worry part of test anxiety scores were negatively correlated with cohesion and independence scores. Total, worry, and emotional part of test anxiety scores were positively correlated with achievement orientation and control scores. 2) High test anxiety group showed higher achievement orientation and control scores, and lower cohesion scores than low test anxiety group. 3) The higher socioeducational level of parents were, the higher three subscale (cohesion, independence, and achievement orientation) scores were, except control score. Conclusion:In therapeutic approach of adolescent's test anxiety, the importance of education and treatment of their parents should be emphasized. Parents should set their children's appropriate achievement goal, encourage their children's independency instead of control. Cohesion of familial members are also needed.
Objectives: The purposes of this study were to investigate the influence of stress cognition of adolescents in a single-parent family on their problem-focused coping behaviors, and to verify the mediating effect of family cohesion between stress cognition and their problem-focused coping behaviors. Method: A survey was conducted on middle school students in Gwangju, and the responses of 404 participants were used in the analysis. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The results of this study were as follows: First, stress cognition had a negative influence on the problem-focused coping behaviors of the adolescents of single-parent family. Second, family cohesion completely mediated the effects of stress cognition on this problem-focused coping behaviors. Conclusions: This study suggests that it is necessary to improve the function of family cohesion in order to improve the problem-focused coping behaviors of adolescents in single-parent families.
This study is performed to find out what type instructions are produced to players by coaches and what effects are resulted in cooperative spirit of the concerned group. Furthermore the study has its aims at advancing instructors' skills by using finding of it. The study used 'SPSS 11.0 FOR WINDOW - Statistical Package' to analyze the collected samples and dealt with data of 174 individuals. Statistical analysis of the research for hypothesis verification was about frequency, trust level, mutual relationship, variables, and T-verification. The meaningful level for any result was ranged within 95%(p< .05), 99%(p<.01). The finding are as follows. Effects on pleasure, one of elements of team spirits taken by instructor's training style are analyzed as follows. It was proved to be meaningful in relation with a series of activities like training, democratic, social, compensatory aspects and showed also considerable relation with power based behaviors. That says, players are found to enjoy high pleasure when social and bureaucratic behaviors of instructors are very energetic. In addition to that, training, democratic, and compensatory activities didn't show any meaningful effect. Team spirit was found to play a main role between instructor's behaviors and training, democratic, social rewarding activities. Democratic and social acts influence on team spirit. Looking into the detailed aspects, team spirit was resulted very high in the individuals with low democratic mind and was shown high group spirit by groups with high sociable activities. Teamworks was found to be affected by relation between instructor's acts and training, democratic, social and compensatory aspects and it showed meaningful relations with training, social, bureaucratic behaviors. Low degree of training and bureaucratic activities are found to prefer for power team spirit, and high social activities led a strong teamworks. Group binding spirit was influenced by training, democratic, social compensatory, bureaucratic behaviors and it showed to give effects on democratic, social, and bureaucratic activities of instructors. Low degree of democratic and bureaucratic behaviors are found to produce strong team spirit. In contrast with that, strong social activities was found to be motive of powerful team spirit. Value of team spirit was found to play a main role between instructor's behaviors and training, democratic, social, rewarding activities. It didn't show any meaningful effect on behavior of instructors.
The development of language skills among immigrants is important for their economic adjustment in their host societies since language is an important dimension of the skill levels of immigrants relevant for the labor markets of the host countries. Moreover, language plays a key role in the social adjustment of immigrants and in the social and political cohesion particularly in the society like the US that has diverse racial and ethnic groups. The main purposes of the present study are to analyze the determinants of English abilities of Korean and other Asian immigrants in the US. The present study utilizes the Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS, S, 5%) in the US. We adopted the ordered probit technique to analyze qualitative differences of English ability. The study found that English fluency increases with a longer duration in the US, the presence of children in the household, living in an area in which a smaller proportion speak ones mother tongue, a younger age at immigration, a higher level of schooling. However, there are marked variations in levels of English proficiency among Asian immigrants.
This study aims to examine the effects of personal assistance services(physical activity support, homemaking activity support, social activity support) on caregiver burden and determine whether family resilience(family belief system, family cohesion, interaction) has a moderating effect between personal assistance services and caregiver burden, thereby presenting a reference data which can be used to seek a practical measure for handicapped welfare. This study was conducted on 200 primary caregivers with disabled family members of rank 1 or 2 in east, west, south, and north Gyeonggi-do using personal assistance services. Data was collected in 2013 from April 1 to May 15, and was analyzed using the SPSS 19.0 statistics program in which a moderated multiple regression analysis based on exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis was performed. The primary conclusions of this study were as follows; First, the use of physical activity support was showed to have a positive effect in reducing family burden related to disabled care. Second, personal assistance services exhibit significant moderator effects related to family burden in family belief systems and family cohesion.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the personal and social environmental factors affecting leisure time physical activity (LTPA) among adults living in rural communities. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a convenience sample of 282 adults living in three rural towns of Chungcheongbuk province. Leisure time physical activity was assessed through the Korean version of the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), and social influence and social cohesion of social environment were assessed using reliable and validated measures. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore personal and social environmental factors associated with LTPA. Results: The overall prevalence of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) was 40.0%. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that LTPA participation was associated with gender (OR=2.60, 95% CI=1.47-4.58), healthy eating (OR=1.15, 95% CI=1.01-1.31), unhealthy eating (OR=0.70, 95% CI=0.53-0.93) and social influence for physical activity (OR=1.11, 95% CI=1.03-1.20). However, social cohesion was not correlated with engaging in LTPA. Conclusion: Both personal and social environmental factors are associated with LPTA among rural adults living in Eup-Myen regions. Interventions to promote LTPA would likely benefit from considering healthy dietary intake and social influence for physical activity.
