  • The purpose of this study was to look how workaholism regulates the effect on the relation between the perfectionism types - self-oriented perfectionism (SOP), other-oriented perfectionism (OOP), Socially prescribed perfectionism (SPP) - and burnout. To do this study, 250 data collected from people who would be over 20 years old in the country using Korean Version of Hewitt's Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, Korean Version of Workaholism Battery, Maslach Burnout Inventory. To analyze the result of the questionnaire survey, Descriptive statistic, correlation analysis, t-test, regression analysis, two-way ANOVA were performed using SPSS. As a result, the interaction between SPP and workaholism showed the meaningful effect on burnout. In other words, while SPP lower group experiences less cynicism regardless of the degree of workaholism, SPP upper group experiences noticeable more cynicism when they are in the lower workaholism group, suggesting that workaholism may have a positive effect of making someone experience less burnout.

For this purpose, 283 university students at the central region were assesed using data collected from the following surveys: the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale(CES-D), the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(HMPS), the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale(IUS), and the Response to Depressed Mood Questionnaire(RDQ) and that were used to collect data. The results of this study are as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between the Intolerance of uncertainty and the rumination response style to the uncertainty of socially prescribed perfectionism, but not correlation the reflective response mode. Second, with respect to the relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism and depression, intolerance of uncertainty was set as the primary mediator variable and the rumination response style were set as the secondary mediator variables. The results shown to have a significant mediating effects. However this mediating effect was not significant when, in order to verify the mediating effect, we set the secondary mediator variable as the reflective response style. These results suggest that to prevent depression that manifests as socially prescribed perfectionism, it may be effective to intervene with a focus on the intolerance of uncertainty and the rumination response style. Finally, the implications and limitations of the study are discussed based on the results.

  • Modern industrial society demands socially-prescribed perfectionism from office workers and causes self-discrepancy. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to propose a counseling strategy that integrates the divided self based on Fairbairn's psychological structure and reduces self-discrepancy by changing interpersonal relation patterns. 14 sessions were conducted once a week from March 2022 to July 2022. T-test was used as a research method to compare the level of self discrepancy by conducting the Self Questionnaire before and after. During the initial stage, the client was in conflict with his boss and showed anger, depression, somatic symptoms such as gastrointestinal disorder, strict judgement on himself and others, and high self-discrepancy. This research showed that the client's libidinal ego and anti-libidinal ego were de-repressed and integrated into his central ego, and his self-discrepancy level was decreased, which was confirmed through the pre-post test. This research, as a case study applying Fairbairn's psychological structure, has a meaning that it confirmed a change in the interpersonal relation patterns of a socially-prescribed perfectionistic client.

Self-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism were found to be the antecedent variables causing stress. Self-oriented perfectionism reduced personal accomplishments, and socially prescribed perfectionism increased the level of burnout. Additionally, perceived stress not only engendered emotional exhaustion but also reduced personal accomplishments. • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between parental/parental attachment and career indecision among college students, and to examine the goodness of fit and influence of variables in a model that assumes that socially imposed perfectionism has an influence on the relationship between parental/parental attachment and career indecision. It's about verification. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted by randomly sampling 250 college students attending 4-year institutions across the country, and data analysis was conducted using a three-stage regression method using SPSS Win 25.0. The analysis results are as follows. First, psychological attachment to parents appears to have a negative effect on career indecision, confirming that the more a stable attachment relationship with parents is formed, the less difficulties in career decision-making. Second, the mediating effect of socially imposed perfectionism was confirmed in the relationship between psychological attachment to parents and career indecision. This shows that the more stable the psychological attachment to the father and mother is formed, the lower the level of socially imposed perfectionism and career indecision. Based on these research results, implications for career counseling practice and follow-up research were discussed.
