A Topic Modeling Approach to the Analysis of Seniors' Happiness and Unhappiness in Korea (토픽 모델링 기반 한국 노인의 행복과 불행 이슈 분석)

  • As Korea became one of the oldest countries in the world, successful aging emerged as an important issue to individuals as well as to society. This study aims to determine not only the Korean seniors' happiness and unhappiness factors but also the means to enhance their happiness and deal with unhappiness. We collected news articles related to the happiness and unhappiness of seniors with nine keywords based on Alderfer's ERG Theory. We then applied a topic modeling technique, Latent Dirichlet Allocation, to examine the main issues underlying the seniors' happiness and unhappiness. According to the analysis, we investigated the conditions of happiness and unhappiness by inspecting the topics based on each keyword. We also conducted a detailed analysis based on the main factors from topic modeling. We proposed specific ways to increase and overcome the happiness and unhappiness of seniors, respectively, in terms of government, corporate, family, and other social welfare organizations. This study indicates the major factors that affect the happiness and unhappiness of seniors. Specific methods to boost happiness and relief unhappiness are suggested from the additional analysis.

  • This study attempts to explore the educational applicability of webtoons. Webtoons have very useful educational elements in educational environments. First, they are extremely popular among learners of the internet age and not only do webtoon images provide immersiveness and enjoyment to learners in class environments based on text but the narrativity and contextuality of webtoons can also provide abundant material in connection with the subject. Also, the interactivity of the Web 2.0, a space where webtoons are circulated, can also be utilized in educational environments. This study attempts to explore grounds for detailed approaches for the educational applicability of webtoons using theoretical and practical methods. It is hoped that through this study, assessments can be made of positive prospects regarding the educational applicability of webtoons.

  • Although importance of music education for the mentally retarded children is realized, it is hard to improve study effects for those children with the existing music education methods due to cognitive disorders of the children. In the paper, we propose a system to improve music cognition ability of the mentally retarded children. The system is designed based on the existing MMCP theory. Our system has the following characteristics. First, the system can improve cognitive, physical, social and emotional development as well as development of music cognition ability. Second, the individualized music education is possible for the children. Third, more active and interactive education is possible.

  • This paper begins with investigation of the race to unlock human DNA, and investigates the emergent areas of bio-technological innovations. This paper draws upon basic ideas from the research traditions of the diffusion of innovations in the competitive situations. To achieve the succesful diffusion of bio-technological innovations, following issues are suggested; clusters, alliances competence, core competence, consumer resistance, chasm phenomena, qualitative research, social network, and cross-culture. The better understanding of the diffusion of bio-tech innovations with empirical studies can complement research on the diffusion of bio-technological innovations and help in the development of a universal model for diffusion of high technological innovations.

A Feminist Psychological Analysis on the Playful Embracement of Boys' Love Manga (여성심리학 관점에서 분석한 남성동성애만화(Boys' Love manga)의 유희적 수용)

  • This study explored the phenomenon of heterosexual women embracing Boys' Love manga within the heteronormativity context from a feminist psychological perspective. Specifically, the issue of genre characteristics of Boys' Love manga, women's psychological mechanism of reading Boys' Love manga, and the functions and effects of embracing Boys' Love manga were discussed. As a theoretical framework of analysis, I started from the classical psychoanalysis and critically adopted the concepts of the various camps of feminism, queer theory, and Huizinga's Homo Rudens. The results show that Boys' Love manga can be classified as a sub-category of the romance genre, which fulfills heterosexual women's desires of eternal love and equal partnership. From these wish-fulfilling fantasies, heterosexual women attempt to be decontextualized from the heteropatriarchism, to enjoy distancing and voyeuristic separation from the characters in the texts, and to disturb the dichotomous gender system through gender reversal identification. These processes, which can be regarded as a women's play challenging sexual rigorism, ultimately bring about an awareness of the female sexual subjectivity.

Source Competition and Dependency on Issue Attributes: Issue Competition between the Government and the Activists on the Issue of Screen Quota (소스 경쟁과 의제속성 의존: 스크린쿼터를 둘러싼 정부와 시민단체의 영향력 분석)

  • The purposes of this study are to analyze how the media reflects the source competition between the activist group and the governmental source in the news contents. Media ideology and the conflict phase also were chosen as situational variables for evaluating how those variables could influence the source competition process. To answer the proposed research questions, the study chose the 'screen quota' issue as a research unit and analyzed documents from three sources, media news, the activist group for maintaining screen quota, and the governmental source during six years and three months. The results showed that the government source played a primary definer role in media reporting related to the screen quota issue, compared to the activist group. The governmental source's primary definer role was maintained against the highly contested social issue while the media ideology, to some degree, leveraged the activist group's comparatively unstable primary definer power. The governmental source's primary definer role was escalated as the conflict phase evolved.

  • 21세기 정보화 세계화 사회에서 창의적이고 자율적인 인간양성을 위한 교육개혁으로 창의적 인재양성, 자기주도적 학습능력 배양이 강조되어지고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 제주지역 농어촌의 경우 인구 집중이 도시로 이루어지면서 농어촌의 인구가 감소되어지고 그러한 결과로 소규모 학교는 통폐합이되면서 교육여건은 악화되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 제주지역 농어촌 교육문제를 해소하여 학생들의 이농현상을 줄일 수 있으며, 창의적이고 자기주도적인 학습 능력을 배양할 수 있는 프로그램 개발의 필요성을 느끼게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 도시와 농어촌의 서로 다른 교육여건에 기반하여 교육내용을 특성화함으로써 제주지역 농어촌 학생의 창의적 문제해결력 향상을 위한 통섭적 활동 모형과 프로그램을 개발하기 위한 이론적 고찰을 하였다. 도시와 농어촌의 학력격차를 해소하기 위해서는 농어촌 학생에게 적절한 교육내용과 활동으로 재편성하여 가르칠 필요가 있다. 특히 제주도는 농촌과 어촌, 도시형이 특별히 구분되어지는 것이 아니라 하나의 통합된 생활문화의 특징을 가지고 있다. 앞으로 본 연구의 이론적 고찰을 바탕으로 제주지역 농어촌 학생들의 일상적인 생활환경에서 접하게 되는 다양한 활동 속에서 창의적으로 문제해결을 할 수 있도록 통섭적 활동 모형과 프로그램을 개발하여 적용하게 되면 학생의 역량을 강화시키고 잠재해 있는 창의적 문제해결력을 개발하여 학력향상에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

Style for a Study on Visual Tactility of Game Animation (게임에니메이션의 시각적 촉각성 연구)

  • With the New media of present age we are living at, strongly entice consumers through various sensible technology and give influences on our life. They are visually formed but make us feel them as if formed tactile. The masses of today are meeting media through all the senses in daily life according to the spread of on-line media and in such course they want momentary and tactile share. Since appearance of mass society and cinema following such current, art has appealed to dispersive and tactile perception, and such public way of perception makes it possible to experience 'visual tactility' in daily life in accordance with the development of on-line game culture among others. The shock effects, given by editing of game animations which are produced for epic experience of on-line game, arouse tactility in addition to visibility. Under this assumption and on the basis of visual tactility theory as well as montage theory of image by Walter Benjamin, the research intends to explain that public tactile shock does not result from simple graphic effect but from montage effect and dispersive acceptance.

A Study on Korean Inbound Tourism Market Efficiency Strategy Using Portfolio Theory (포트폴리오 이론을 적용한 한국 인바운드 관광 효율화 전략 연구)

  • The inbound tourism market is recognized as a vital sector of the tourism industry today, but it is highly volatile due to each country's economic, social, and cultural variables. The causes of volatility vary according to the inbound country, and we intend to revitalize the stabilized tourism industry by minimizing risks. In this study, the portfolio theory was applied to derive the optimal combination for each country to achieve the minimum risk level's maximum growth rate. The number of inbound travelers and the average expenditure per person was simultaneously applied. As a result of the analysis, the best mix by country based on the number of inbound travelers was the UK, the United States, Germany, China, and Japan. Based on average spending, each country's best combinations were Thailand, Middle East, Singapore, Japan, Russia, Hong Kong, and Germany. It is expected to be able to establish a plan to operate the Korean inbound tourism market strategically.

Presentation of Self and SNS Posting Styles: Focusing on Goffman's Impression Management Framework (자아 표현과 SNS 게시 형식: 고프만의 인상관리 이론을 중심으로)

  • People use various tools to present themselves including Social Network Services(SNS hereafter). This study categorized three types of presentation of self, which are genuine, ideal, and social self, and based on Goffman's Impression Management Framework, investigated if these types of presentations have any patterns related to SNS posting styles. Especially, we focused on the styles of hashtags including if hashtags are used in the main tests, if hashtags are hidden, and what kinds of words are used for hashtags. Using 450 posting data uploaded to the Instagram, we found that the posting presenting ideal self show very high rate of using hidden hashtags(98%) and using common expressions(97%), which are not the case for genuine and social self types. This results imply that people concern more about their impressions especially when they present their ideal self on SNS, partially confirming Goffman's Impression Management Framework.
