The Effect of Adolescent's Problem-Solving Ability on Sociality in the Covid-19 Era: The Mediating Effect of Self-esteem (코로나-19시대 청소년의 문제해결능력이 사회성에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of the study was to explain the effect of adolescents' problem-solving ability on sociality and to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem in the COVID-19 era. The study utilized the survey data using the web and mobile conducted by the Korea Youth Policy Institute, and selected 1,471 school-age adolescents as the subjects of the survey. For the analysis, the study performed various analysis methods including frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and mediating effect analysis of self-esteem using SPSS WIN 25.0 and PROCESS MACRO program. The results are as follows. First, it was shown that adolescents' problem-solving ability had a positive (+) effect on sociality. Second, there was a mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between adolescents' problem-solving ability and sociality. Based on these results, the practical engagement and various programs to improve adolescents' self-esteem and sociality were suggested.

Does Organizational Capacity Explain Fundraising Effectiveness in Nonprofit Social Service Organizations? (비영리 사회복지조직의 재정자원동원 효과성과 조직의 관리능력)

  • This study intended to analyze what factors affect fundraising effectiveness in nonprofit social service organizations. Focusing on organizational characteristics only, current studies did not address the importance of organizational capacity leading to organizational effectiveness. Based on the assumption of the relation between organizational capacity and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations, this study added factors indicating organizational capacity to the current model. After collecting data from 147 staffs involving in fundraising activities of nonprofit social service organizations, this study used a hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that organizational capacity had a significant impact on the variance of fundraising effectiveness. Despite the limitations of the purposive sampling method, this study has implications to provide practical guideline for nonprofit managers and to develop a theoretical framework with a new perspective on organizational capacity.

A Predictive Model of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living in Community-dwelling Elderly Based on ICF Model (ICF 모델에 근거한 재가노인의 도구적 일상생활수행능력 구조 모형)

  • This study was conducted to construct and test a structural equation model of instrumental activities of daily living(IADL) in community-dwelling elderly. The model was based on ICF(International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) model. The participants were 260 elderly who were more than 65 years old. Physical and psychological function, visual-motor integration and social activities had direct effects on IADL. That is, the better the subjective health status, the lower the depression and the less chronic illness, the better IADL. Personal factor, social support and social activities had indirect effect on IADL. This model explained 32% of the variance in IADL.

  • This study has a purpose that comes up with a practical direction of training program about a cultivating vocational competence to older adults for living an independent life including a social, economic, and emotional base. The aged people suffered from a employment uncertainty because the aged people's job opportunity is just opened to unskilled works and not related with a regular lifelong educational program. In this study, the direction of program for cultivating vocational competence should be expanded and standardized. Also, there are less social agreement about older adult's cultivating vocational competence has a meaning above the purpose with economic activity. And the program should related with the employment. The direction of program for cultivating vocational competence to older adult should be the expansion and standardization of program. and should have the opportunity of sympathy about older adult's physical and social problem.

  • This study intends to investigate the path that their language competence impacts on the quality of life through family relationships and social relationships. We conducted a questionnaire survey of marriage immigrants, living in metropolitan areas of Korea. The results are summarized as follows: First, including linguistic competence paths directly and indirectly through family relationships and social relationships, all paths that affect the quality of life has been noted. Secondly, in highly educated, high-income and spontaneous-marriage-immigrants population groups, relationships among linguistic competence, family relationships, social relationships and the quality of life were turned out to be relatively high than comparative groups. third, every groups investigated in this study have different paths that the linguistic competence influence the quality of life, but family relationship has a stronger effect on the quality of life than any other variables including linguistic competence.

Stress Coping Behavior and Mediation Effect of Social Competence within the Influence Relation where the Effect of Stress of the Children from Multicultural Families on their School Adjustment (다문화가정 아동의 스트레스가 학교적응에 미치는 영향: 스트레스 대처행동과 사회적 능력의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the mediating effects of the stress coping behavior and social competence of children from multicultural families to determine the influential relationships between their stress and school adjustment. The analysis results show that stress had overall negative effects on the school adjustment of children from multicultural families and also on their stress coping behavior and social competence. For the indirect effects, both their stress coping behavior and social competence had positive indirect effects on their school adjustment. Stress did not have significant direct effects on their school adjustment. These findings suggest that stress coping behavior and social competence have full mediating effects between their stress and school adjustment. These findings highlight the need for directions of school education and various program interventions to improve the stress coping and social adjustment competence of children from multicultural families, offering practical implications to enhance their school adjustment.

The Study of Function about Real Life in Children with Cerebral Palsy (뇌성마비아동의 실제생활에서의 기능에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation amongst the social function, communication function, activities of daily living and gross motor function beyond existing research on physical function and functional capacity in cerebral palsy. 43 children with cerebral palsy participated in this study and significant correlations were found among social function, communication function, activities of daily living and gross motor function. The greatest significant correlations were found between social function and activities of daily living. Significant higher correlations were found between items of social function and communication, but were lower between social function and gross motor function. The results showed that we consider the social aspects of function of children with cerebral palsy in the area of rehabilitation in order to focus on the problem in real life.

The Influence of Job Stress, Stress Coping Strategies, Empathy ability on Burnout of Social Workers in Long-term Care Facilities (노인요양시설 사회복지사의 직무스트레스, 스트레스 대처전략, 공감능력이 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationships between job stress, stress coping strategies, empathy ability, and burnout in social workers at long-term care facilities. Data was collected from 201 social workers in three cities from March to May 2020 using structured questionnaires. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlations, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results showed that burnout significantly differed according to age, marital status, and career among the general characteristics. In the relationships between major variables, burnout showed a significant positive correlation with job stress and showed significant negative correlations with stress coping strategies and empathy ability. The major factors affecting burnout were job stress and empathy ability, which explained 72.3% of the variance. The results of this study suggest that job stress and empathy ability are important factors for burnout. Findings indicate a need to decrease job stress and increase empathy ability to prevent the burnout of social workers. Further studies are needed to examine burnout prevention strategies for social workers.

  • The purpose of the present study is to examine the causal relationship among self-regulated learning, social presence, learning flow and satisfaction in cyber education utilizing electronic media. For this study, 304 students at W cyber university in Korea completed surveys in the fall semester of 2010. The result of this study indicated that there was a meaningful effect of self-regulated learning on learning flow and satisfaction. In addition, we founded learning flow has an intermediating effect between self-regulated learning and satisfaction. Based on these results, this study propose strategies to raise satisfaction by improving students' leading role in their learning.

  • The aim of this paper is to suggest some ways of moral education for the building of children's social awareness and relationship skills as social and emotional competencies. Based on the social and emotional learning(SEL), this paper is tried to provide the effective ways to develop children's social awareness and relationship skill. According to SEL, social and emotional competence is the ability to understand, manage, and express the social and emotional aspects of one's life in ways that enable the successful management of life tasks such as learning, forming relationships, solving everyday problems, and adapting to the complex demands of growth and development. And it is also the process of acquiring and effectively applying the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to recognize and manage emotions. Five key competencies such as self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, self-management, relationship skills are taught, practiced, and reinforced through SEL programming. Moral education and social and emotional learning have emerged as two prominent formal approaches used schools to provide guidance for students' behavior. social awareness and relationship skills are necessary for succeeding in school, in the family, in the community, in life in general. Equipped with such skills, attitudes and beliefs, young children are more likely to make healty, caring, ethical, and responsible decisions and to avoid engaging in behaviors with negative consequences such as interpersonal violence and bullying.
