  • With regards to CSR, Proactive CSR has been less researched in small & medium enterprises(SMEs). This research examines empirically the relation between SME's organizational capabilities, proactive CSR and corporate performance as well as a mediating role of proactive CSR between capabilities and corporate performance. Using quantitative data collected from 485 SMEs in Korea, we find that all specified capabilities are positively related with adoption of proactive CSR by SMEs and that proactive CSR is, in turn, associated with an improvement in corporate performance. In addition, we also find a mediating role of proactive CSR on the relationship between organizational capabilities and performance. The study is likely to contribute to both SMEs CSR strategy and RBV research.

  • Recently many companies are utilizing CSR as an important strategic means because of increasing concern about CSR from society and securing a sustainable competitive advantage. With this background, this study conducted an empirical investigation using a statistical tool based on survey data about a casual relationship between organizational capabilities, proactive CSR, reactive CSR and Business Performance from a RBV perspective. The result of this empirical study is as follows, First, SME's specified organizational capabilities have positive and significant effect on a proactive CSR. Second, the proactive CSR is positively related with business performance but reactive CSR is not like that. Third, SME's organizational capabilities do not have a positive and significant effect on business performance directly but have a indirect effect on business performance through proactive CSR which is a value creating activity. This research is likely to give some contribution to both SME's CSR study and resource based view (RBV) research.

  • This is an exploratory study examining factors associated with awareness of the National Long Term Care Insurance in Korea. The researchers also examined the differences in factors based on their age, between the middle-aged group(45-64 years of age) and the elderly group(65 years and older). The 6th wave of Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) was used for secondary data analysis. Results indicated that for the middle-aged, gender, volunteer participation, ADL, IADL, and depression were related to their awareness of the long term care insurance. However, for the elderly, social capital factors were significantly related to their awareness of the insurance. Age and depression were also significant factors associated with the awareness level of the long term care insurance among the elderly. • The current study investigated how interpersonal trust is developed in online communities, where most of individual identities are unknown or doubtful. To better understand and theorize the underlying mechanism, a survey was conducted integrating the literature on computer-mediated communication (CMC) and extending previous research on social identify model. The findings confirmed that integrity, benevolence, and openness are essential components in the concept of trustworthiness, which is predicted by social identification and persistency of communication activities in the virtual community.

  • The present study investigated the mediating effects of parents' social networks on the relationship between parents' socioeconomic status and parent involvement. Parent involvement in the current study was composed of home-based and school-based involvement. Home-based involvement includes providing learning environment at home, guiding child's study habits, and providing educational and financial support. School-based involvement includes supporting child's school-related activities, participating at parent meetings and volunteering, and home-school communication. The subjects were 132 single mothers and 164 mothers from two-parent families, whose children are fifth and sixth graders in Seoul and Incheon. Structural Equational Modeling was used for the analysis by adopting SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The results showed that single mothers and mothers from two-parent families differ in their structural models. For mothers from two-parent families, socioeconomic status was directly related to home-based and school-based involvement. In contrast, single mother's socioeconomic status only influenced home-based and school-based involvement indirectly through the functional aspects of mother's social networks. The results suggest that parent counseling and parent education programs might be more effective if they encouraged single mothers to exchange resources through their social networks in order to promote parent involvement in elementary schools.

  • In 2014, India legalized corporate social responsibility(CSR) for foreign companies and enforced it. Meanwhile, one of the Korean companies' concerns is that the turnover rate of employees is very high. Therefore, this study was conducted in four dimensions. First, Korean IT companies in India ought to work on CSR activities so this study investigates to see if CSR can reduce employee turnover rate. Second, the study is to verify whether job embeddedness plays mediating role in the relationship between CSR and 'intention to leave'. Third, the study is also to verify whether organizational identification plays mediating role in the relationship between CSR and 'intention to leave'. Lastly, the study is also to verify whether job embeddedness and organizational identification show dual mediation effect in the relationship between CSR and 'intention to leave'. The results of the study are as follows ; First, CSR does not make any significant effect on 'intention to leave'. Second, job embeddedness and organizational identification show dual mediation effect in the relationship between CSR and 'intention to leave'. So if Korean IT firms in India conduct CSR activities strategically, the activities can eventually reduce the propensity of 'intention to leave'. Based on the results, several implications on Korean IT firms are suggested for reducing the propensity of 'intention to leave' in India, effectively.

After excluding 59 questionnaires that seemed to contain insincere answers from total 300 questionnaires, 241 were used in analysis as final valid samples. They were analyzed in frequency, reliability, and correlation analysis with the PASW Ver. 18.0 program and then confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling analysis with the AMOS 18.0 program. The findings were as follows: First, support from family and support from others among the subfactors of social support had positive effects on positive ego, one of the subfactors of self-esteem, and negative ones on negative ego. Secondly, positive ego, one of the subfactors of self-esteem, turned out to have positive impacts on academic adjustment and school life adjustment, two of the subfactors of college life adjustment, whereas negative ego had negative impacts on academic adjustment and school life adjustment.
