Weaving is defined as the crossing of two or more traffic streams traveling in the same general direction along a significant length of highway without the aid of traffic control devices. Compared with other freeway sections, perturbation is easy to happen at weaving section. Because there are a lot of lane-changing maneuvers at the weaving section, traffic is subject to turbulence in excess of that normally presents on freeway basic section. This turbulence causes operational problems and its impact must be considered. The purpose of this paper is to perform a basic study on flow characteristics by lane, which can be achieved through analyzing breakdown phenomenon in the microscopic approach. The study made use of data derived from the aerial photography for the microscopic analysis. This research produced the 30-second interval data such as flows, speeds, and densities for the macroscopic analysis and derived the vehicular data to draw time-space diagram for the microscopic analysis. The paper analyzed the traffic characteristics using flows, speeds and densities variation and investigated the conditions of breakdown occurrence with the time-space diagrams. The breakdown phenomenon was identified at weaving section and the propagation from free flow to synchronized flow was observed in this study. In the future, the findings help develop the traffic operational algorithm to manage the traffic congestion under ubiquitous circumstance since the conditions of breakdown Phenomenon can be understood more.

This study was conducted to establish size specification of food material for elementary school meals, researched at school meal scene and surveyed with questionnaires about the management of food materials by workers devoted to preparing school meals. Most subjects (80.7%) answered that students were served smaller size than adults, whereas 11.0% answered that they served different sizes according to school age and 8.3%, that they served same size as adult. About the food material size specification for elementary school student, a majority of respondents reported that 3/4 or 2/4 of adult served size was suitable. The serving size was decided and executed to investigate the actual intake and the preference of students for food size by 2 methods, intake ratio and questionnaire in 6 elementary schools. It showed that intake ratio and preference of students may be changed by serving size. According to the result, food serving size was divided in 3 types per menu and food size was measured precisely using the white board inscripted calibration. Actual food serving size for adult and recommended food serving size for elementary school student was compared. The data collected were coded and used to decide food material specifications for 12 cooked vegetable items, 15 raw vegetable items, 9 kimchi items, 2 fermented fish and fish sauce items, 8 deep-fried items, 5 meat and meat product items, 19 fish items and 5 dried food items.
The purposee of this study is to investigate the correlation between the horizontal and vertical discrepancy of facial bones and the horizontal and vertical position of glenoid fossa. For this study, the cephalograms were taken to the adults over 18 of age(96 men and 108women). The cephalograms were divided into three groups according to the ANB angle(below 0.5 degree, 0.5 to 4.0 degree and above 38 degree), and they were divided into three groups according to the SN-MP angle(below 30 degree, 30 to 38 degree and above 38 degree). The following conclusions were obtained : 1. In the horizontal discrepancy of facial bone(ANB), the horiontal position of glenoid fossa(X) was anterior position as the order of Class II, Class I, Cias III. 2. The horizontal position of glenoid fossa(X) showed the significant correlation with ANB and SNB, but not with SNA. 3. In the vertical discrepancy of facial bone(SN-MP), thee less anglee was the greater vertical position of glenoid fossa (X) and was followed by the medium and high angle in order. 4. The vertical position of glenoid fossa(Y) showed thhat the SN-FH was the most significant correlation, and it was followed as the order of SN-FH, SN-MP and SN-OP angle. 5. There was the samllest length of anterior cranial base in the Class III malocclusion.
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the status of a unilateral palatally impacted maxillary canine (as seen on the panoramic radiograph) and the orthodontic treatment duration. Methods: A total of 36 subjects were chosen (8 males and 28 females, $13.7{\pm}2.5$ years). All patients had undergone orthodontic traction of the impacted canine after a closed flap surgery. The position of impacted canine on the panoramic radiograph was traced and calculated with regard to the treatment duration. Results: The canine overlap over the lateral incisor (COGr) had significant statistical difference between the short-term and the long-term treatment duration groups (divided by average treatment time of 21 months) (p<0.05). Multiple regression indicated that the variables of significance (with treatment duration as the dependent variable) were the canine vertical height from the occlusal plane $(HCV,\;r^2=0.115;\;p<0.05)$ and the mandibular anterior width $(MnDW,\;r^2=0.142;\;p<0.05)$. The treatment duration, the canine angle to the incisor midline (CA), and HCV decreased from primary dentition (under 12 yrs) to permanent dentition (15 yrs). Howerer, these increased again at the adolescent ages (over 16 yrs). Conclusion: These findings suggested that orthodontic treatment of a palatally impacted canine would show good prognosis at an age of early permanent dentition with the canine showing smaller CA and HCV.
Objective: This study examined the craniofacial morphology of young patients in their prepubertal stage showing class I, II malocclusion, by analyzing lateral cephalograms, and analyzed its relationship with tongue position, tongue space, and airway space in order to ascertain the effects of nasopharyngeal airway and tongue morphology on the form of the malocclusion. Methods: Seventy-six patients aging from 9 to 11 were divided into two groups depending on the ANB difference on the lateral cephalogram: Experimental group (CI II malocclusion group) showing $0{\le}ANB$ difference < 4.0; Control group (CI I malocclusion group) showing $0{\le}ANB$ difference < 4.0. The tongue space, space between palate and tongue, nasopharyngeal airway space and craniofacial morphology were compared between the two groups. Results: Tongue space, palate-tongue space, nasopharyngeal airway space showed no significant differences between class I and class II malocclusion groups. Hyperdivergent faces were associated with smaller nasopharyngeal airway space. Longer anterior facial height and posterior facial height were associated with larger tongue space, and greater anterior facial height were associated with lower tongue position. Smaller nasopharyngeal airway space showed smaller tongue space. Conclusions: Tongue space and nasopharyngeal airway space showed no significant differences between class I malocclusion group and class II malocclusion group. Only anterior facial height and posterior facial height had an influence on tongue space and nasopharyngeal airway space.
This study intends to evaluate visual preference and image for 10 types of forest sceneries which have own distinct characteristics without overlapping each other among 22 types of beautiful forest sceneries based on Korea National Parks. Z scale and paired comparison methods were used to analyze visual preference for forest scenery, and SD scale method was also adopted to assess visual image for forest scenery. Experiments were conducted with 3 different university students groups. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the evaluation results of Z scale (N=70) and paired comparison (N=64) methods show similar visual preference for different types of forest scenery. 'Scenery inside forests' and 'valley and rock' sceneries have the highest level of preference, and 'panorama of ridges', 'ridge of curious rock peaks', and 'waterfall and cliff' also have relatively higher preference level than others. However, 'community of dead trees' has the lowest preference in forest sceneries. Second, the factor analysis outputs of the image scores for beautiful forest scenery types by SD scale (N=66) show 3 factors of 'mysterious charm', 'colorful sense', and 'vividness/variety'. Examined the variables of forest scenery types for each factor, the image of 'mysterious charm' is based on the sceneries of mountain ridges, the image of 'colorful sense' is focused on the sceneries of color-expressed sense of the season, and the image of 'vividness/variety' is based on the sceneries of waterscape and curious rock peaks.

Recently, as the number of high-rise building and earthquake occurrence are increasing, it is more important to consider horizontal load such as wind and seismic loads, earth pressure, for the pile foundation. Also, development of underground space in urban areas is more demanded to meet various problem induced by growing population. Many studies on pile subjected to horizontal load have been conducted by many researchers. However, research regarding interactive behavior on pile subjected to horizontal load with tunnel are rare, so far. In this study, therefore, study on the behaviors of ground and horizontal and vertical loads applied to single pile was carried out using laboratory model test and numerical analysis. The pile axial force and ground deformation were investigated according to offset between pile and tunnel (0.0D, 1.0D, 2.0D: D = tunnel diameter). At the same time, close range photogrammetry was used to measure displacement of underground due to tunnelling during laboratory model test. The results from numerical analysis were compared to that from laboratory model test.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to know whether there is significant difference of peri-implant bone density according to the state of antagonist region. Materials and methods: 51 patients who had implant operation in Daejeon Dental Hospital of Wonkwang University participated in this study and total of 51 implants were analyzed. Implants were classified depending on opposing antagonist region, gender, age and location of jaw. The opposing antagonist region was divided into four groups; natural tooth, implant, pontic and edentulous region. Fractal analysis was performed using two periapical radiographs; one after implant placement and the other after 10 weeks following prosthetic restoration. The analysis was done by Image J. The data was statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison test. Results: The mean value of fractal difference was $0.009{\pm}0.048$ with opposing natural tooth, $0.026{\pm}0.080$ with opposing implant, $0.025{\pm}0.068$ with opposing pontic and $0.093{\pm}0.171$ with opposing edentulous area. There was a statistically significant difference in fractal value between opposing implant and opposing edentulous state. And there was no statistically significant difference according to age, gender and location of jaw. Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference between 3 groups except opposing edentulous region and there was a statistically significant difference between opposing implant and edentulous region. And there was no statistically significant difference according to age, gender and location of jaw.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the proximal caries detecting ability and identify the optimal cut-off values of two types of laser fluorescence (LF) devices; classic type (DD) and pen type (DDpen). The number of proximal surfaces participated in this study were 164 surfaces in primary dentition and 438 surfaces in permanent dentition. Each tooth surface was sequentially assessed by two types of LF devices, and bitewing radiograph. The radiographs were classified into 3 groups in primary dentition ($pR_0$, $pR_1$, $pR_2$), and 4 groups in permanent dentition ($PR_0$, $PR_1$, $PR_2$, $PR_3$) according to the depth of caries, and used as gold standard. In primary dentition, the area under the curve (AUC) values of DD were 0.851 and 0.890, and those of DDpen were 0.883 and 0.917, respectively in enamel caries and dentin caries. In permanent dentition, the AUC values of DD were 0.762 and 0.886, and those of DDpen were 0.828 and 0.958, respectively in enamel caries and dentin caries. When detecting proximal caries in posterior teeth with LF devices, DDpen is more useful than DD in both primary and permanent dentition. However, in primary dentition, DD can also be useful to detect proximal caries.
