Research on Airline Selection Attributes by IPA among Foreign Tourists Visiting Korea (방한외국인의 항공사 선택속성 중요도-성취도 분석)

  • This research aims to analyze the importance-performance among airline selection attributes using foreign tourists. For this purpose, data were collected from Japanese and Chinese tourists to Korea. Of the various airline selection attributes, four factors were deduced that includes: transport service, accompany service, cabin service and basic service using exploratory factor analysis. This study estimated how important airline selection attributes are and how much are they performed. Also, this study analyzed the ranking among each selection attributes using T-test. The importance-performance analysis showed 'Concentrate Here' in quadrant I, 'Keep up the Good Work' in quadrant II, 'Low Priority' in quadrant III and 'Possible Overkill' in quadrant IV. Quadrant I specifically showed low performance in terms of the following specific attributes: communicative convenience, flight attendant's friendliness, seating preference. As these attributes are deemed significant, airline managers should focus along these areas.

A Study on the Evaluation of Selection Attributes of Spa Destination by IPA (IP분석에 의한 온천관광지 선택속성 평가 연구)

  • The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the importance-performance levels for the selection attributes of spa destination and to analyze the gap between importance levels of the selection attributes. The data were collected from the spa visitors to Yuseong spa complex. The findings of the current study were as belows: 1. as the results of factor analysis of 32 selection attributes, five factors were generated, such as "spa and supporting facilities", "surrounding conditions around spa resort", "friendship and the intention of recommendation", "spa water" and "fees of spa entry". 2. the mean analysis showed the statistically significant difference among the selection attributes for importance-performance levels and the mean levels of five factors were rank-ordered as in "spa and supporting facilities", "friendship and the intention of recommendation", "fees of spa entry", and "surrounding conditions around spa resort", "spa water". 3. as the results of IPA, the selection attributes were distributed as belows: 9 attributes were located in I (Keep up the Good Work), 4 attributes were located in II (Possible Overkill), 7 attributes were located in III (Concentrate Here). and 12 attributes were located in IV (Low Priority).

  • This study conducted an exploratory study to derive the success factors of entrepreneurial marketing for startups. Through Delphi analysis, we derived the items of proactive orientation, risk management, innovation, opportunity driven, resource leveraging, customer intensity, value creation, price setting, marketing communication, channel management, product development, sales and marketing information management. The importance and execution of success factors were measured through IPA analysis. The first quadrant(keep up the good work) has proactive orientation, risk management, resource leveraging, customer intensity. The second quadrant(concentrate here) has innovation. The third quadrant(low priority) has channel management, sales, marketing information management. The fourth quadrant(possible overkill) has prices setting, product development. These results showed that the success factors of startup's entrepreneurial marketing were proactive orientation, risk management, innovation, opportunity driven, resource leveraging, customer intensity and value creation.

  • Without a sample standard deviation for an estimator of the population standard deviation u in a sample size computations, we often use some functions of a sample range (R) or interquartile range (IQR) by an estimator of $\sigma$. In order to avoid under-powered studies, these estimates must have a high probability of being greater than or equal to $\sigma$. In this paper, these probabilities of being greater than or equal to $\sigma$ are estimated for IQR for various parents distributions, and are compared with the probabilities for R/4 (Browne 2001). Alternative divisors (K) are explored and discussed for which the probabilities of R/K and IQR/K being greater than or equal to $\sigma$ is at least 95%.

Forecasting the Korea's Port Container Volumes With SARIMA Model (SARIMA 모형을 이용한 우리나라 항만 컨테이너 물동량 예측)

  • This paper develops a model to forecast container volumes of all Korean seaports using a Seasonal ARIMA (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) technique with the quarterly data from the year of 1994 to 2010. In order to verify forecasting accuracy of the SARIMA model, this paper compares the predicted volumes resulted from the SARIMA model with the actual volumes. Also, the forecasted volumes of the SARIMA model is compared to those of an ARIMA model to demonstrate the superiority as a forecasting model. The results showed the SARIMA Model has a high level of forecasting accuracy and is superior to the ARIMA model in terms of estimation accuracy. Most of the previous research regarding the container-volume forecasting of seaports have been focussed on long-term forecasting with mainly monthly and yearly volume data. Therefore, this paper suggests a new methodology that forecasts shot-term demand with quarterly container volumes and demonstrates the superiority of the SARIMA model as a forecasting methodology.

Importance-Performance Analysis of Multiplex Cinema Attributes (멀티플랙스 영화관 선택속성의 중요도-성취도 분석)

  • This research aims to analyze the importance-performance among multiplex cinema selection attributes. Therefore, we collected data for visitors who visited the multiplex cinema and want to watch movies. Of the various multiplex cinema selection attributes, four factors were deduced that includes: major services, human services, physical environment, auxiliary services using exploratory factor analysis. In the quadrant I, the area of 'Concentrate Here' was 'diversity of screening time', 'diversity of movie genre', 'convenience of mobile app use', 'size and convenience of parking facility'. In the quadrant II, 'Keep up the Good Work' area was 'convenience of website booking', 'discounts through card partnerships', 'employee friendliness', 'accurate employee information delivery', 'comfortable seating', 'screen size', 'cinematic sound quality', and 'convenience of traffic' etc. The quadrant III, 'Low Priority' appeared to be 'membership system', 'tidiness of staff attire', 'resting space for waiting time', 'accessibility to the neighboring area', 'diversity of the snack corner', and 'overall cleanliness' etc. The quadrant IV, 'Possible Overkill' was 'appropriateness of the auditorium temperature' and 'service proficiency'.

An Exploratory Study on the Study Trend of Domestic Entrepreneurship Using Co-word Analysis Method (국내 기업가정신의 연구동향에 관한 탐색적 연구: 동시단어분석 방법을 중심으로)

  • This study conducted time-series analysis on domestic studies related to entrepreneurship for more than last 50 years by integrating the co-word analysis method of intellectual structure analysis into the study of entrepreneurship. The co-word analysis method is a quantitative analysis method to analyze the overall trend of the study and further study topics by visualizing the information between study topics and arranging the topics on two-dimensional plane and the study result showed largely four phases and the direction of the study path. According to the analysis, the study is started at embryonic study phase(third quadrant), the study topic of independent study phase(second quadrant) is a phase to be a settled independent area as a study and the topics of the study include topics of the study reflecting the situation of the times. At growing study phase(first quadrant) study topics which are closely related to the study topic are arranged, and the topics, the center of the study, are positioned at the study topics of maturity phase(4th quadrant).

  • This paper proposes a simple control chart method which can be practically used for asymmetric process data where the distribution is unknown. If we use the Shewhart type control charts which are based on normality assumption for the asymmetric process data, the type I error could increase as the asymmetry increases and the effectiveness of control chart to control variation decreases. To solve such problems, this paper suggests to calculate the control limits based on the quartiles. If we obtain the control limits by such quartile method, the type I error could decrease and it looks much more practical for asymmetric distributed process data.
