This paper describes vegetation based soil-media hydroseeding measures that have been previously applied as slope revegetation methods show problems such as insufficient binding force, drying, and insufficient organic matter. In particular, in the case of slope faces in regions where scattering is severe, a vicious circle exists in which remarkably low vegetation cover rates and increases in withering rates over time lead to further decreases in vegetation cover rates, which lead to further increases in erosion and scattering. Therefore, in the present study, environment friendly soil stabilizers were applied for resistance against erosion or scattering and engineering evaluations such as long-term immersion tests and flow resistance tests were conducted to determine appropriate mixing ratios. According to the results of long-term immersion tests utilizing environment friendly soil stabilizers and existing greening soil based materials, 100% collapse occurred at 30 hours and 40 days in the case of soil stabilizer mixing ratios of 0% and 2%, respectively. While the original form of the samples remained intact until the experiment was completed in the case of mixing ratios exceeding 4% indicating that 2% or higher soil stabilizer mixing ratios could affect the maintenance of forms even under extreme conditions. In addition, artificial rainfall tests were conducted on 40, 45, and 55 degree slope faces to evaluate the structural stability of vegetation based materials. Flow resistance tests were conducted on soil stabilizer mixing ratios of 0, 4, 8% to evaluate erosion resistance capability. Based on the results of the tests, environment friendly soil stabilizers applied for prevention of scattering or resistance against erosion by rainwater are considered to provide large effects to reduce losses and loss rates showed a tendency of decreasing rapidly when soil stabilizers were mixed.
The utilization of fly-ash containing high levels of the unburned carbon was investigated. In this study adsorbents were manufactured from fly-ash ad a raw material and the manufactured adsorbents were applied to the waste-water treatment including heavy metals. Varying the anthracite(Jangsung coal) content, three types of pellet were made. The carbon content of pellet increased appreciably upon the addition of anthracite. After carbonization and activation using the pellets, adsorbents showed following characteristics; the range of hardness was between 85% and 96%, iodine number was from 100 mg/g to 300 mg/g. In proportion to the anthracite addition, hardness and iodine number increased. Through the adsorption experiments of heavy metals, removal efficiencies of Pb and Cr by manufactured adsorbents were over 90%. In case of fly-ash, removal efficiencies of Pb and Cr were 31.5% and 5.6% respectively. The reason why removal capacities of manufactured adsorbents were higher than fly-ash was postulated that adsorption capability was improved by unburned carbon and $SiO_2$ which included in fly-ash during steam activation.
Polyurethane waterproof (PW) coatings are increasingly demanded in Korea for repairing cracks on old building roofs and construction of many sporting facilities. Calcium carbonate, a common filler, is incorporated in PW compositions. In this study, PW coatings were prepared by substituting a part of calcium carbonate with fly ash. The maximum amounts of calcium carbonate which can be substituted by fly ash obtained in the cyclone and bag filter dust collectors were 20 and 10%, respectively. It was found that the curing rate of PWs ran be controlled by varying the amount of Pb-octoate catalyst. The elongations at break as well as tensile strength and tear strength of PW coatings containing fly ash could also be adjusted such that their values were comparable to those of a standard PW coating by varying relative amounts of some components. However, the amount of cadmium, mercury, and lead leached from PW coatings containing fly ash obtained from the bag filter collector exceeded the respective allowed upper limits, mainly due to the initial high contents of them in the fly ash. On the other hand, PW coatings containing fly ash obtained from the cyclone collector exhibited better mechanical properties and did not release any significant amounts of the heavy metals. Thus, it was concluded that PW coatings containing fly ash can be utilized for practical applications as long as an appropriate fly ash is used.
The Saemangeum has a dry surface characteristic with a low moisture content ratio due to the saline and silt soil, so the vegetation cover is low compared to other areas. In areas with low vegetation cover, wind erosion has a high probability of scattering dust. If the vegetation cover is increased by cultivating crops that can withstand the Saemangeum reclaimed environment, scattering dust can be reduced by reducing the flow rate at the bottom. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of suppressing the generation of fine dust and scattering dust by cultivating winter forage crops on the Saemangeum reclaimed land. While growing 0.5 ha of barley and 0.5 ha of triticale in Saemangeum reclaimed land, the concentration of fine dust was monitored according to agricultural work and growth stage. Changes in the concentrations of PM-10, PM-2.5, and PM-1.0 were monitored on the leeward, the windward and centering on the crop field. As a result of monitoring, PM-1.0 had little effect on crop cultivation. the concentration of PM-10 and PM-2.5 increased according to tillage and harvesting, and tillage had a higher increasing the concentration of PM-10 and PM-2.5 than that of harvesting. According to the growth stage of crops, the effect of suppressing scattering dust was shown, and the effect of suppressing scattering dust was higher in the heading stage than in the seedling stage. So, it was found that there was an effect of suppressing scattering dust other than the effect of land covering. Through this study, it was possible to know about the generation and suppression effect of scattering dust according to crop cultivation.
The extraction of aluminum from coal fly nsh wa studied using H,SO, and CaF, as leachants Aluminum was effectively extracted by HF formed &om the reaction of H,SO, and CaF, which decomposed the mullite in fly ash. The cffeas of H,SO' and CaFi concentration, reaction temperature, and reacliou time on aluminum extraction were investigated. 97% of aluminum was extracted by 4 M H:SO, and 0.5 M CaF, at 106$^{\circ}$C for 10 houci.

The purpose of this study is to enhance the mechanical strength of specimens containing fly ash from fluidized bed type boiler, which the recycling rate will be eventually increased. Specimens containing fly ash in a certain portion were made and aged for 3, 14, and 28 days. Specimens were carbonated under the supercritical condition at $40^{\circ}C$. The carbonation process under the supercritical condition was performed to enhance the mechanical property of specimens by filling the voids and cracks existing inside cement specimen with $CaCO_3$ reactants. The additional aging effect after the supercritical carbonation process on mechanical strength of specimens was also investigated by comparing the compressive strength with and without 7 day extra aging. Under the supercritical condition and additional 7 day aging specimens were very effective for enhancement of mechanical strength and compressive strength increased by 44 %.
In order to investigate the drift of pesticides sprayed on Chinese cabbage, 7 pesticides chlorpyrifos, EPN, pirimiphos-methyl, phenthoate, tetradifon, dicofol and bifenthrin were applied in two sets of field tests. The pesticide residues were quantified bar multiple-residue analysis, in which the recovery rate was 78${\sim}$92% and standard deviation was ${\pm}0.683{\sim}52%$. It was found that most of the tested pesticides were spread by drift to neighbouring area and brought about the contamination of the unsprayed crops. The extent of drift varied depending upon the pesticide, distance and wind direction. The mean residue levels on unsprayed crops were 0.66% at 3 meter distance, 0.10% at 6 m distance and 0.05% at 9 m distance from the applied area and the maximum level was 1.83% of the residue on sprayed crops.
This study was conducted to investigate the control effects of the environmental-friendly materials against major diseases of pear and to elucidate factors related to spore disperse of pear scab and pear rust. Spore disperse was deeply related ambient temperature in the early stage of disease occurrence and the maximum spore disperse was affected greatly by the air humidity, Percent of infected leaves of pear scab in plot treated with Trichoderma harzianum-YC459 was 29.3% and 43.3% in plot treated with Sulfur-80%. Two formulations above-mentioned were less effective to control pear scab than the chemical pesticide, hexaconazole. Control effect in plots single- and mixed-treated with Trichoderma harzianum-YC459, Sulfur-80% and hexaconazole against pear scab were compared with that in plot treated with chemicals by conventional application schedule in pear orchard. The incidence of pear scab was lower in plot treated with the environmental-friendly materials than that of untreated plot. However there was no significant difference among the treatments at the 5% level. Application of Sulfur-80% reduced significantly the incidence of pear scab (7.8%) compared to that (10.3%) in plot treated by conventional application schedule in organically cultivated pear orchard. Alternative application of Trichoderma harzianum-YC459 and Sulfur-80% (4.3%) suppressed the incidence of pear rust than that (7.1%) in plot treated by conventional application schedule in organically cultivated pear orchard.
The aim of this study is to investigate the behaviors of synthesis of Calcium Chloroaluminte($11CaO{\cdot}7Al_2O_3{\cdot}CaCl_2$) under the melting temperature of municipal solid waste incineration fly ash(MSWI fly ash); $900^{\circ}C-1300^{\circ}C$ of sintering temperature. A sludge generated from a water purification plant (SW) was also used to fill up $Al_2O_3$ source, which might be deficient in MSWI fly ash. MF and SW were mixed at mixing ratio of 10 to 7, which is the mole ratio of CaO to $Al_2O_3$ of calcium Chloroaluminte. Mixed samples were sintered in the opened sintering reactor and the closed sintering reactor, respectively. The results showed that calcium chloroaluminte was formed at $1,000^{\circ}C$ in both reactors, but the temperature of decomposition of calcium chloroaluminte depended upon sintering reactor type; an opened sintering reactor and a closed sintering reactor, owing to the vaporization velocity of Cl.

Present study was designed to evaluate the practical application of triethyl amine(TEA) injection for improving the collection efficiency of electrostatic precipitator(ESP) connected to a real operating plant. The major fuels used at the domestic power stations were bituminous coals imported from Australia, China, South Africa, and USA. Although the values of the electric resistance would be more or less different according to the type of the coals used, the unique electric resistance values of fly ash from the coals were mostly higher than $1{\times}10^{12}\;{\Omega}-cm$ and therefore, back corona problems were always expected to occur in the electrostatic precipitator. The particulates concentrations, smoke concentrations and their electric resistivity measured at the outlet of ESP, and the inspection of collection indicated that the injection of TEA improved the collection efficiency of particulate at collection plates of ESP. The electric resistance for, fly ash with the injection concentration of TEA 15 ppm(Purity 99.7%) was lowered to $2.1{\times}10^{11}\;{\Omega}-cm$ after injection from $1.9{\times}10^{12}\;{\Omega}-cm$ before injection. Under this condition, the dust emission content at the stack was reduced to approximately 80%, lowering the average outlet concentrations of particulates from $70\;mg/Sm^3$ to $14\;mg/Sm^3$.
