A Study on the Factors Influencing Satisfaction of Business Environment by Merchant Age: Focusing on the Jongno-gu Historical and Cultural Street (상인 연령별 영업환경만족도 영향요인에 관한 연구: 종로구 역사문화거리를 중심으로)

  • recent times, the monthly rent in the Jongno-gu Historical and Cultural Street in Seoul has rapidly increased, because of the presence of large-scale franchises and the entry of private investment into the traditional and local businesses focusing on Bukchon, Seochon, Insa-dong, and Samcheong-dong. As a result, the business environment for these merchants has worsened, due to the increasing economic burden. In order to maintain the business environment of the merchants, it is necessary to evaluate the potential for establishing a regional commercial area, in order to resolve the problems of the existing commercial areas and to improve the locational, economic, cultural and political environment. This study analyzed the factors influencing the merchants' satisfaction with the business environment as a function of their age, by considering three age groups, viz. 30-49, 50-59, and more than 60, considering the locational, economic, cultural and political environment of the merchants. Among the factors influencing the satisfaction with the business environment, the merchants in their 30s and 40s placed more emphasis on the traffic accessibility, floating population, store premium and monthly rent than the other age groups. Among the factors influencing the satisfaction with the business environment, the merchants in their 50s placed more emphasis on the cultural organization, artist activities, expansion of community support facilities, and banning of franchises in certain locations than the other age groups. Among the factors influencing the satisfaction with the business environment, the merchants over 60 years old placed more emphasis on the walking accessibility, monthly sales, merchant community, preservation of historical and cultural landscape, and commercial protection of the government than the other age groups.

Comparative Discussion of Intercultural Discourses in the 20th Century (20세기 '상호문화 담론들'에 대한 비교 고찰)

  • The word culture itself is very difficult to define. Therefore, in order to confine its meaning, many scholars prefer to attach different prefixes such as inter-, bi-, multi-, cross-, pluri-, trans-, in front of the adjective cultural instead of defining the word culture itself. These prefixes have been used along with about thirty various nouns, ranging from adaptability to training. In this paper, we focused on the adjective intercultural. In fact, this adjective has been widely used, not only in education but also in the communication and philosophy sectors among the world academia discourse. Intercultural Education appeared in America in the 1930s and also in the 1970s in Europe, in order to improve relations between immigrants and the people who received them. Intercultural communication arose in America as a cultural education program for American diplomats and professionals, while interculturalism appeared in the 1970s in Canada as a policy in opposition to multiculturalism. Intercultural philosophy started in 1990s Germany as philosophical speculation against Eurocentrism. As such, the adjective intercultural has been used with a combination of diverse nouns. In regards to this, one can ask the following questions: did the scholars have any kind of agreement during their discussions? Did they communicate and make a positive impact on each other? If not, how can we interpret their common use of the word intercultural? To answer these questions, we tried to compare fives types of intercultural waves of the 20th century, paying particular attention to their time periods, places and backgrounds of appearance, their emphases and shortcomings. Following our research, we found that intercultural waves in the 20th Century have developed independently despite their common use of the word intercultural. Therefore, we concluded that the use of same word intercultural was the result of humankind's effort to approach cultural differences in a positive way in the global village created by internationalization and globalization of the 20th century.

Cross-Cultural Study of Successful Aging in Korean and Western Society (한국사회와 서구사회의 성공적 노화의 구성요소에 대한 비교 문화적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the similarities and differences of elements of successful aging in Western and Korean society using a background of time and dominant values of each society. Content analysis of concepts and components of 'successful aging' was performed based on 12 Korean articles and 23 Western articles. The major findings were: (1) The studies of successful aging accomplished since 2001 and the studies that explore the elements of successful aging perceived by the elderly mentioned diverse elements as essential to successful aging. (2) There were both common and distinct components of successful aging in Western and Korean society. Some of the essential components for successful aging were commonly accepted, but others were varied and unique, reflecting the period of experience and cultural values. These results could be used to better understand unique successful aging of the Korean elderly, as well as to establish a basis of intervention that meets the specific demands of this population.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 정기시장을 이용하는 이동 상인과 소비자의 특성을 분석하여, 정기시장의 중심지 기능과 공간 구조를 이해하려는 것이다. 충청북도 영동군 지역을 사례로 해서 8개의 정기시장을 이용하는 상인에 대한 면접 조사와 소비자에 대한 설문 조사를 통해서 자료를 수집하였다. 정기시장의 연구는 경제-입지적 접근 방법이나 사회-문화적 접근 방법으로 행해지지만, 정기시장의 기능을 상인과 소비자의 두 측면에서 모두 고려할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서 고차위 중심지에 위치한 정기시장은 규모가 커진 반면, 저차위 중심지에 위치한 정기시장은 쇠퇴하고 있는 것이 확인되었다. 정기시장을 유지시켜 왔던 사회적 관성과 비교 우위는 농촌의 근대화 과정에서 점차 사라지고 있으며, 이러한 사회경제적 변화가 정기시장을 쇠퇴시키고 있다.

  • 지역연구는 해외지역연구(foreign area studies)의 준말로, 연구자의 문화와는 다른 문화권 혹은 국가를 대상으로 하는 학제적인 연구이다. 지역은 시대와 정의자에 따라 변화할 수 있는 인지개념으로 세계지역, 문화지역, 국가단위지역 등으로 구분될 수 있다. 지역연구는 1920년대에 미국에서 시작되었으며 제2차 세계대전을 계기로 본격적으로 발전하였다. 전쟁 전에는 유럽지역이 지역연구의 주요 대상지역이었으며 전후 냉전시기에는 제3세계가, 그리고 현재는 전세계의 모든 지역이 연구지역으로서 주요한 가치를 지닌다. 지역연구는 정책지향적이고 학제적인 연구이며 현장연구를 중요시하는 특성을 지닌다. 지역연구자가 되기 위해서는 전공분야의 학위와 현지언어 능력, 광범위한 지역 지식, 현장 경험 등을 갖춰야 한다. 그러나 분과학문과 지역에 대한 관심의 균형 문제가 분과보편주의와 지역특수주의 간의 갈등으로 나타나 지역연구의 목적이 희석되기도 하였다. 지리학은 몇가지 이유로 인해 지난 몇 십년간 지역연구에 대해 비교적 관심을 덜 가졌다. 그러나 지리학자는 공간 상호작용의 분석과 자연환경에의 접근 등을 통하여 지역연구의 발전에 기여할 수 있으며 지역연구의 큰 목적 중의 하나인 지역성 구명의 문제에서 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다.

A Study on Regional Approaches in Seoul city & Bucheon city of the Culture Industry (문화산업의 서울, 부천시 비교 접근방법연구)

  • In this paper, as the culture industry rises as the new scale of the nation's competivity. it is moving from the national standard to regional standard, and the demands of the regions and People for the culture industry, also known as the entertainment industry, are increasing. Also, the study executed an empirical analysis on region리 approaches and efficiency of the approaches for the development of culture industry in Korea. The followings show the summarized results of the study. The culture is changed by the social and economical conditions, and the culture industry is changed by changes in culture consumers and introduction of cultural policies. Under the social conditions, the rise of mass culture in big cities appear as the influencive factors and the rise of mass culture in small ton also work as the influencive factors but the people of the small towns emphasize the culture lifestyles. The shows that the big cities emphasize the masses but on the other hand, the small towns emphasize the lifestyles. Under the economical conditions, the diversification of culture distributions, culture commercialization, and culture cluster show to be the influencive factors in the big cities. Even in the small towns, the diversification of culture distributions and culture commercialization work as the influencive factors but the culture cluster could not have any influences.

The Comparative Study on Contemporary Cultural Facilities in the City Environment (도시 환경과 디자인 계획으로 본 현대 문화시설 비교 연구)

  • This study examines the multi-functionality of the cultural facilities and explores the architectural characteristics of cultural facilities in city environment. For this purpose, 1 examine the major cultural facilities in USA and Singapore. Recently, the inter-cultural communication methods have been diversified and the cultural facilities need to be designed to effectively accommodate the public's interests in these activities. It is also necessary to reexamine cultural facilities' functions in terms of how the multi-functionality facilities reflect the surrounding environment. This study also sheds a new light on the meaning of the relationships between cultural activity, and the cultural facility design. For this, I primarily look at the various design categories of cultural buildings and their main functions. Finally, I demonstrate how both cultural activity and cultural facility design elements are embodied in the city environment.

  • The purpose of this study is to ascertain the design element in traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan. It takes threesteps to proceed this study. Firstly, it needs to be established the analysis framework from the documents. In second step, the design elements - the form, the material, the pattern and the color - should be collected and investigated through the observation of the actual traditional palaces the Changduckung, the Forbidden City, the Nijo castle. The third step is the analysis of the results of the investigation of the design elements from step two. To sum up similarities and dissimilarities among the design element in traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan is as the following It is to be noticed that the mainly common characteristics of the artistic design are 'naturalism', 'harmonious ideas' and 'confucianism'. But the representation style of the design element is differed from the country. : The typical features of China are symmetry, glassy surface by artificial process, the meandered curve, the magnificent pattern and the constrable color. In Japan, the mathematical asymmetry, made-up rough surface by artificial skill, decorativepattern with abbreviation and achromatic color are important feature of the design element. While the major features of Korean design element are asymmetrical balance with nature, rough surface by natural process, moderate pattern and harmonious color.

  • 최근 몇 년간 e스포츠 산업은 전 세계적으로 꾸준히 성장하고 있다. 특히 모바일게임은 PC나 콘솔 게임에 비해 낮은 비용으로 쉽게 접근할 수 있어 모바일 e스포츠 산업 규모 또한 점진적인 성장을 보이고 있다. 하지만 국내 모바일 e스포츠 산업은 해외 모바일 e스포츠 산업과 비교했을 때 시장의 규모에서 큰 차이를 보였고, 국내 PC e스포츠 산업과 비교해 보아도 상대적으로 시장 규모가 작아 국내에서는 모바일 e스포츠 산업이 비주류로서 소비되는 모습을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 논문에서는 다른 국가의 모바일 e스포츠 흥행 요인 등을 분석하여 국내 모바일 e스포츠 산업 발전 방안을 제시하고, 국내 e스포츠 산업의 새로운 수익 모델로 모바일 e스포츠를 제안하고자 한다.

The Impact of Childcare Workforce Cost on Fertility Rates (육아 인력 비용이 출산율에 미치는 영향)

  • This study comparatively analyzed the impact of childcare workforce cost on fertility rates across different countries. In the cases of Nordic countries, comprehensive childcare support policies and subsidies for childcare workforce costs were found to have a positive impact on fertility rates. In contrast, high childcare burden and economic pressures were identified as major factors contributing to declining fertility rates in East Asian countries. In developing countries, the effectiveness of childcare support policies varied depending on the socioeconomic context. This study suggests that the impact of childcare workforce cost on fertility rates manifests in diverse patterns across countries, and effective childcare support policies require tailored approaches that consider each country's specific circumstances. In the future, increased social investment in childcare and the spread of a culture that respects the value of care are necessary.
