  • Green environment is most important factor to human being taking a side view of psychological aspect. But, as the civilization progresses rapidly, the green environment decreases. At present, various environmentally friendly methods are developed to prevent the ill effect of the concretes. n this study, Ecostone retaining wall method, which is a kind of environmentally friendly block, are used for verifying the application to the slope stability and protection of rural hosing. In case of rural hosing and structure, the height of the slope is not high and additional loading doesn't act on the slope except the gravity loading of housing and structure. From the result of the stability analysis of Ecostone, 3m to 7m Ecostone retaining wall can have an equivalence capacity comparing with the concrete retaining wall. Therefore, Ecostone method can apply to retaining wall with the structural safety and environmentally friendly aspect using the plants and vegetation.

  • This paper considers a long-run variance estimation using a block bootstrap method under strong dependence also known as long range dependence. We extend currently available methods in two ways. First, it extends bootstrap methods under short range dependence to long range dependence. Second, to accommodate the observation that strong dependence may come from deterministic trend plus noise models, we propose to utilize residuals obtained from the nonparametric kernel estimation with the bimodal kernel. The simulation study shows that our method works well; in addition, a data illustration is presented for practitioners.

  • In this paper, we present an effective circuit placement method called SOAP (self-organization assisted placement) for rectilinear or arbitrarily-shaped region arised form the layout of ASIC (application specific integrated circuit). Self-organization is a learning algorithm for neural networks proposed by [1] which adjusts weights of synapses connected to neurons such that topologically close neurons are sensitive to inputs that are physically similar. In SOAP, we obtain a good circuit placement result in arbitrarily-shaped region by replacing the block of circuit and the position (x, y coordinates) of the block with the neuron and the weight pair of synapses connected to the neuron, respectively. This method can also be extended to the circuit placement over the nonplanar surface.

  • In present study a methodology has been developed and applied for the optimum design and performance evaluation of microchannel heat sinks. The optimum design parameters include channel number and fin thickness. For a trial model of 127mm in length, 52.5mm in width, 16mm in height and 2.5mm in base thickness, the optimum channel number and the fin thinckness have been determined to be of 194 and 0.08359mm, respectively in laminar flow region. Performance of the optimally designed microchannel heat sinks has been compared with those having 50% and 150% of the number of channels. The results showed that the 50% and 150% designs increased the pumping power by 200% and 150%, respectively.

  • In this paper, we proposed two new methods of half-pel accuracy motion estimation using spatial correlation of half-pel accuracy motion vectors and stochastic characteristics between pixel accuracy motion vectors and half-pel accuracy motion vectors. We confirmed two facts : One is that the probability of having same half-pel accuracy motion vectors with neighboring blocks is high when having same pixel accuracy motion vectors. And the other is that there is high correlation between neighboring half-pel positions. These new half-pel motion estimation technique are shown to decrease the bit rates for vector coding and computational complexity with similar PSNR.

  • The GNUnet proposed a file encoding method by lKB block size to support anonymity of files and decentralizes encoded block to peers through unstructured model. but, the encoding and block decentralizing method with 600$\sim$700MB large multimedia file appeared two problems. First problem. it need addition R block and I block, which make about 4% of storage resource. Second problem, unstructured model added network load by broadcasting decentralizing method. This paper suggest variable encoding block size and structured model by block decentralizing solution. Suggested encoding method reduced block request supplementary block generation to 1% and network load by proposal structured model sending answer through dedicated peer to decentralize block.

  • Electrospun polymeric nanofibers have been extensively studied for biomedical materials because of their unique structures and relatively easy fabrication with biocompatible polymers. The amount of surface exposed amine groups increases as the blend ratio of block copolymer increases. Cell attachments on the nanofibers change according to the ratio of the block copolymer ((Poly(e-caprolactone, PCL), Poly(e-caprolactone)-Poly (ethylen glycol-$NH_2$)) in the blend. We assume that the PEG and amine moiety plays a significant role in biocompatibility of nanofiber surfaces. Collagen was used as a grafting material on the composite nanofibers to enhance the cell adhesion because the collagen is a major constituent of connective tissue.

  • A 50 ㎾ phosphoric acid fuel cell(PAFC) system using natural gas was simulated for steady state with the commercial software, ASPEN PLUS. The USER block and the FORTRAN block were prepared to simulate the cell. The changes of hydrogen yield according to the variation of several operating conditions were examined and the operating conditions to maximize hydrogen yield were obtained. The simulation results agree with the real data, which can be used to prepare the basic process data and the optimal conditions for the domestic commercial fuel cell system. H$_2$utilization rate over 50% should be maintained to achieve the efficiency of the conventional electricity generation. Energy consumption can be reduced by utilizing the heat released from the reformer and the cell which are operated at high temperatures.

  • An one-dimensional VLSI array for high speed processing of Fractal image compression was designed. Using again the overlapped input data of adjacent domain blocks in the existing one-dimensional VLSI array, we can save the number of total input for the operations, and so we can save the total computation time. In the design procedure, we considered the data dependences between the input data, reordered the input data to the array, and designed the processing elements. Registers and multiplexors are added for the storing and routing of the input data in some processing elements. Consequently as adding a little hardware, this design shows (N-4B)/4(N-B) times of speed-up compared with the existing array, where N is image size and B is block size.
