A Study of the Beauty Commerce Customer Segment Classification and Application based on Machine Learning: Focusing on Untact Service (머신러닝 기반의 뷰티 커머스 고객 세그먼트 분류 및 활용 방안: 언택트 서비스 중심으로)

  • As population and generation structures change, more and more customers tend to avoid facing relation due to the development of information technology and spread of smart phones. This phenomenon consists with efficiency and immediacy, which are the consumption patterns of modern customers who are used to information technology, so offline network-oriented distribution companies actively try to switch their sales and services to untact patterns. Recently, untact services are boosted in various fields, but beauty products are not easy to be recommended through untact services due to many options depending on skin types and conditions. There have been many studies on recommendations and development of recommendation systems in the online beauty field, but most of them are the ones that develop recommendation algorithm using survey or social data. In other words, there were not enough studies that classify segments based on user information such as skin types and product preference. Therefore, this study classifies customer segments using machine learning technique K-prototypesalgorithm based on customer information and search log data of mobile application, which is one of untact services in the beauty field, based on which, untact marketing strategy is suggested. This study expands the scope of the previous literature by classifying customer segments using the machine learning technique. This study is practically meaningful in that it classifies customer segments by reflecting new consumption trend of untact service, and based on this, it suggests a specific plan that can be used in untact services of the beauty field.

Effect of Supporters of Cosmetics Company's Beauty Product Evaluation Contents on Purchase Intentions (화장품회사 서포터즈의 뷰티제품평가 콘텐츠가 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study studied the influence of beauty influencers, who act as supporters of cosmetics companies, on the purchase intention of cosmetics by consumers using Instagram content. To this end, we focused on the influence of demographic characteristics of consumers exposed to product evaluation contents of beauty influencers acting as cosmetics company supporters on purchase intention. The research data questionnaire surveyed a total of 15 items in 237 parts. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, independent t test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis were used for data analysis, and SPSS 23.0 was used for analysis. As a result of researching purchase intention according to product introduction through Instagram contents of a specific account HAJIN_21 Beauty Influencer, gender did not have a statistically significant positive effect, and final education was statistically influenced on purchase intention. It was found to have a significant positive (+) effect. As a result, it was found that final education was an important factor in purchase intention. Furthermore, it is expected that this study can be used as a basic data in the direction of promotion using cosmetics companies supporters.

  • 최근 화장품이나 뷰티산업의 성장이 가속화되고 있다. 이에 따라 시장에 다양한 뷰티제품들이 출시되고 있지만 그로 인해 오히려 본인에게 적합한 제품이 무엇인지 알지 못하는 경우가 많다. 온라인을 통해 구매하는 경우 구매후기 및 광고에 의지해야 하며 전문가의 조언을 구하기 위해서는 오프라인 상점을 방문할 수밖에 없다. 그러나 오프라인 상점을 방문한 경우에도 자신에게 적합한 화장품을 추천받는 것 또한 다분하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하고자 온라인 환경에서 소비자에게 맞는 상품의 광고 및 정보를 받을 수 있는 화장품 추천 서비스를 제안한다. 또한 제안서비스는 AI기능을 적용하여 기존의 방식보다 소비자 친화적인 서바스를 제공하는 것을 목표로 한다.

A study on the relationship between vagan beauty and the beauty industry (비건 뷰티와 뷰티산업의 연관성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, as more attention has been paid to the issues of environmental pollution and animal tests, vegan beauty has become a new trend as an large axis of consumption. Therefore, this study aimed to speculate on the vegan beauty and investigate its corelation with beauty industry through a survey, giving a focus on perception, characteristics, the current status and supplementation of vegan beauty. The results of the survey were: Only 31.3% of the subjects were aware of vegan beauty; In respect to characteristics, the mean value of advantage was 3.08, which was higher than that of disadvantages, 3.04. As for the current status, the rate of purchase intention was high, 81.7% and the rate of outlook was very high, 87.3%. Although vegan beauty has not been popular yet, if price is adjusted, products are diversified and generalized, and performance is improved, it is suggested that it will present positive outlook to future development of beauty industry.

  • This study attempted to analyze the influence of mobile shopping motivation on the attributes and selection of beauty applications among consumers in their 20s, and the results found the following: First, mobile shopping motivation was classified into the categories of playfulness, convenience, and impulsiveness while beauty application attributes were divided into contents, community, and continuous management. Second, mobile shopping motivation was found to have a significant influence on selection of mobile beauty applications. Specifically, playfulness affected professional brands and beauty shopping mall apps, while impulsiveness revealed an effect on online shopping malls and beauty community apps. In addition, convenience showed an influence on TV home shopping apps. Third, mobile shopping motivation had a statistically significant effect on beauty application attributes. Specifically, playfulness, convenience, and impulsiveness revealed a statistically significant influence on contents, while playfulness also affected beauty communities. In addition, impulsiveness affected continuous management.

  • This study is to investigate the effect of beauty lifestyle on the quality of life of middle-aged women. For this study, 417 middle-aged women aged 35-65 years living in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gwangju, Sejong, and Daejeon were conducted from February 27, 2021 to March 14, 2021. As a result of this study, the correlation of quality of life of middle-aged women according to beauty lifestyle was positively correlated in the order of show-off type, appearance-seeking type, practicality-seeking type, and fashion-seeking type. In addition, it was found that the practical pursuit of beauty lifestyle and the pursuit of show-off affect the quality of life of middle-aged women. Therefore, it is necessary to develop customized communication information and marketing strategies for beauty products based on the ambivalent perspective that pursues economic efficiency and luxury for the practical and flaunting types that can have a positive impact on the quality of life of middle-aged women.

  • YouTube beauty content channels that utilize various topics and formats are undergoing quantitative and qualitative expansion. This study selected the top five channels represeting major domestic and foreign beauty brands, fashion magazines and beauty influencers through Statista and conducted a case study focusing on them. It will connect to a strategy for increasing beauty-related content by comparing content characteristics according to content producers. Also, it will help to reveal what types of content will be appealing more attractive to consumer. The result has shown that the growth of YouTube platforms has transformed passive consumers into new communicators by diversifying sources of product information. In addition, as content of different type was consumed by different producers, producer-oriented content was produced rather than objective journalistic gaze. Therefore, it was found that the delivery of 'brand values' that can strengthen the relationship between consumers and brands along with various entertainment elements that are effective for millennial in the future.

  • Due to the regular usage of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people developed skin issues. As a result, interest in skin care which can be performed independently at home has increased. The purpose of this study is to design a customized home beauty care device to respond to these market trends. In order to do so, the double diamond model was applied in the design thinking process, and the design development process proceeded in the order of discovery, definition, development, and delivery. This study is meaningful in that it focused on the user-centered design development approach by fusing design thinking processes rather than styling-oriented design processes, and suggested new possibilities for design development using information based on the data measured.

  • This study investigated the perception of beauty-agriculture convergence industry for businesses in senary industries in Jeju Special Self-governing Province. Currently this area is in the stage right before the suggestion of a convergence-based win-win industrial development model. The ultimate goal is to provide basic data to beauty-agriculture convergence industries. Agricultural products are used as main ingredients in the cosmetics industry and recently, farmers have been focusing on certain areas of the beauty industry, such as the internal production of beauty products and the attraction of customers. According to a comparative analysis on the beauty-agriculture convergence industry between employees and non-employees, a statistically significant difference was found in the following: Possibility of creating high profits, personal interest in the beauty industry and the possibility of utilizing natural resources. In terms of the reasons for beauty-agriculture convergence industry development potential such as added value, leading industry, product competitiveness, aesthetic lifestyle and market size, as well, a significant difference was found. In the perception of the necessity of government supports such as financing, facilities, technology, education and PR marketing, no significant difference was observed. Since creative and diverse contents are needed for beauty-agriculture convergence, high-quality technical support and continuous education are essential. Therefore, diverse government supports including funds and facilities are needed.
