  • Prepackaged system consists out of a dry mix which contains cement, sand, redispersible polymer powder and admixtures in the right proportions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of prepackaged-type polymer-modified mortar products using redispersible poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate)(EVA) powder. Polymer-modified mortars using the redispersible polymer powder with powdered with powdered shrinkage-reducing agent were prepared with cellulose fiber contents of 0, 0.5, 1.0% and shrinkage-reducing agent contents of 0, 4%, and tested for drying shrinkage, strength, adhesion in tension, water absorption. From the test results, the prepackaged-type polymer-modified mortar products with 4% of shrinkage-reducing agent content give good properties. and that their properties largely depends on the shrinkage-reducing agent content rather than the cellulose fiber contents.

  • In this paper, a new replication technique for a real 3D microstructure was introduced, in which a master Pattern WES made of photo-curable epoxy using a microstereolithography technology, and then it was transferred onto an epoxy-copper particle composite. A helical gear was selected as one of the real 3D microstructure for this study, and it was replicated from a pure epoxy to an epoxy composite. In addition, the transferability of the microreplication process was evaluated, and the properties of :he epoxy composite were compared to that of the pure epoxy, including hardness, wear-resistance and thermal conductivity.

  • The effects of polymer-cement ratio, antifoamer content and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the air content, setting time and drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder are examined. As a result the air content of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and antifoamer agent content. Regardless of the antifoamer content, the setting time of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to delayed with increasing polymer-cement ratio. Irrespective of the antifoamer content, the drying shrinkage of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content.

  • The effects of polymer-cement ratio, antifoamer agent content and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder are examined. As a result, irrespective of the antifoamer content, the drying shrinkage of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content. Such a drying shrinkage development is due to the effect of reducing water from incorporation of EVA redispersible polymer powder and antifoamer agent.

  • This paper discusses the strength properties of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powders, which is widely used for the manufacture of prepackaged-type polymer-modified mortar products at present. The polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powders are prepared with various polymer-cement ratios, and tested for air content, flexural and compressive strengths, and tensile strength. The strength properties are almost the same as those of polymer dispersion-modified mortars, depending on the polymer-cement ratios, and are improved over unmodified mortar. In particular, between tensile strength and glass transition point of polymer powder have a high correlation. It is concluded from the test results that polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powders can be used in the same manner as ordinary polymer dispersion-modified mortars.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the chemical resistance of polymer powder-modified mortars with special accelerator component. Polymer powder-modified mortars with the accelerator are prepared with various polymer-binder ratios, and tested for flexural and compressive strengths and mass change. Chemicals resistance was tested by dealing with $10\%$ HCl and $5\%\;H_2SO_4$ aqueous solution. As a result, the weight reduction ratio of the mortars decreased with increasing polymer-binder ratio. However, in the viewpoint of strength reduction by chemical attacks, the maximum chemical resistance of the mortars was shown at a polymer-binder ratio of $5\%$.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the durability and bond strength of polymer powder-modified mortars with special accelerator components. The mortars were prepared with various polymer-binder ratios and applied to the concrete substrate as a repair material. Bond strength, flexural and compressive strengths, freeze-thaw resistance and carbonation resistance were measured for the test. As a result, bond strength of the mortars was increased with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio, and freeze-thaw resistance and carbonation resistance were significantly improved with increasing polymer-cement ratio also.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate chloride ion adsoption property of cement mortar using nitrite type hydrocalumite(calumite) with self-corrosion inhibition function. Superior corrosion inhibition function of the VA/E/MMA-modified mortars with calumite was ascertained from accelerated corrosion test in the previous study. In this study, VA/E/MMA-modified mortars with calumite were prepared with calumite contents of 0, 5, 10% and polymer-binder ratio of 0, 10%, and tested for chloride ion adsorption to make it clear how calumite gives self-corrosion inhibition function to cement mortar. As a result, chloride ion adsorption property of VA/E/MMA-modified mortars with calumite was improved by increasing calumite contents compared to unmodified mortar regardless of using VA/E/MMA terpolymer powder or not.
